Yea I too would like to see the time line advance just a bit. Infact, the current fluff has that the Golden Throne is malfunctioning and there fr the Emperor will die soon. I would like to see the story continue with his death, Im an Ork so I wont be affected at all, but I like the story line of the Imperium

Great idea for a thread.

I remember when we went from 2nd to 3rd there was a ton of stuff.

The timeline would advance, Tyranids would close on Terra, marines would be on the ropes and look more like the colonial marines from aliens (a bit of that came true with the new bolters and the addition of pouches and such) and that the squats would come to the rescue.

Also the Ultras would rebel against the High Lords and the Blood Angels (or maybe a successor chapter called the Bone Angels) would turn to chaos.

Even older from the 2nd edition IG codex...

A Squat codex AND an Imperial Agents codex

Plastic IG are always ripe for rumors, from the current rumor that all the old regiments are coming in plastic, to a joint Death Korps/Valhallan plastic set, to cool-looking plastic Cadians. Heck just last year everyone thought we were getting a Baslisk with guns for the Collosus and Griffon.

Orks will get a modular kit that can build trucks, buggies and battle wagons.

And while we're at it, all units in a codex will get models, remember that one?

Heck, I still want my Electro Priests!

That 8th edition close combat would continue until one side fled or was destroyed. In my idiocy I played my first few 8th ed. games like this and it was tedious to say the least.

There was a rumour floating around in FLGS towards the end of second that we wouldn't have to buy new Codeci come 3rd ed.

Well you technically didn't, since there were the really threadbare ones in the 3rd ed rulebook.

They already tried that with Battlefleet Gothic, and we all know how that turned out (unfortunately). Maybe Europe and Asia is where all the BFG players are hiding?

Too bad there's not more players really, it's a great game.

All the Japanese codexes use metric at the moment. And are freely available from the GW website.

In December, I correctly predicted that Grey Knights were getting an April 2011 release, based on the specific mention of their story in this anthology. That count?

The reminds me, remember there was a bit of art showing the GKs attacking a fortress and everyone got all spun up that this proved the GKs were getting jump packs and jet bikes and all kinds of stuff?

We we'll see the rumors point to no.

They were brilliant, in my opinion. If they were cheap enough second-hand to use them as regular guardsmen and do a whole army of them, I would

Looking for fun articles on painting, tactics and wargaming? Are you after a new regular blog to follow? Are you a bit bored with nothing better to do?

If the answer to any of the above is 'well, I guess' you could probably do worse than read my blog! Regular wargaming posts, painting and discussions

I also remember the piece of art in the Space Wolf codex that's a big 2 page spread. It's got these mini Thunderhawks flying up in the distance that everyone thought were Storm Ravens. People also thought the same from the cover of a White Scars book from Black Library. How wrong we were...

Well, GW can't always prevent coincidences like that, and it is a Space Marine Anthology BTW, not a Grey Knight anthology. And did we get Eldar, Necrons, Death Guard and Salamanders in the last few months? Or Sororitas and Dark Eldar parallel to the DoW:Soul Storm release?
And March/April was predicted for quite some time, "predicting" it due to a weak BL coincidence is not very convincing if you look at previous releases.
Also: Using the momentum is limited to a small box in the WD, possibly without mentioning Grey Knights

That's my point: this is not a Grey Knight anthology, and it's from a series of books that hasn't singled out one story like that in the past. If this had merely been a coincedence, they would have done the same thing they'd done with the previous books and not "coincidentally" singled out an army that "coincidentally" happened to be the same one getting a new codex that month.

The one about Imperial Guard getting a new Leman Russ kit based off of the Baneblade. Pitty it was all a hoax, and the GW kit that would come later was just a rehash of the ancient kit of yesteryear that we have to put up with. *Typed as plasticarding another Macharius styled Russ* ¬¬

I never heard that rumor before! The GW kit that came out more recently is actually pretty nice. Options, different turret design, simpler construction, and so on.

Here's an image shown at a Games Day that led to much speculation, but was only a set of test sculpts:

Search Warseer and you'll eventually find it. Google comes up with some images of it too, though the guy who made it eventually released a blog about it saying it was all an april fools. ...With a few hundred rivets on the parts he made alone, that's some commitment. http://www.40konline.com/community/index.php?topic=180424.0

That's even better than the "leaked" Blood Angels codex that was all a hoax by a guy on Scribd. It had Baal scouts, Sgt. Lorenzo granting Terminator squads Overwatch, and some Frankenstein-esque monster with an apothecary handler. Funny thing is, some of the things in that codex came true, and I liked it better than the BA codex we have now!

Yeah that was true.. there were a few parts of that fake codex that make you think the guy was privy to the design process of it at some point, unless you could argue he just made some reasonably judgements regarding what direction the codex would take. It wasn't like the previous fake Nid codex that appeared (and was obviously a fake) for instance.

If not though, you can safely assume that the guy is a loser of monumental proportions to go through that much trouble to deceive (or 'joke' with people?)
