Squats - use them as guard.
Chaos Dwarves - use them as dwarves or even chaos warriors
Lost and the Damned - use them as guard
Genestealer cult - hmmm you guys actually are pretty fethed but I guess you could use them as just a normal Tyranid list.
Or even better get together with some good friends who will let you just use the old list. It really isn't that hard.
It also amuses me that people with no apparant investment in a discussion feel the need to butt in and be so flip and and state obvious straw-man responses.

The only army to get really invalidated was a Slaanesh biker/demon bomb I built with my ex-fiance. Luckily for me she took it with her when she left...

Lol,in that book, there is a Dwarf giving the finger.
I thought Chaos Dwarves were getting a codex back in 07,when the Previous Warhammer rulebook came out and Chaos Dwarves had rules in the back.

Certainly, those people should do just that, immediately after you send them the money they spend on the army they suddenly found no further support on from the company they bought the expensive miniatures from.
Or you could just hush your inflammatory commenting mouth.
Ummmmm probably not I love being inflammatory........... . But my point still stands! Just keep using them. You don't need GWs support or opinion to keep having fun with your toys.

Well my straw friend I own Lost and the Damned and Squats so I certainly have just as apparent investment as anyone else in this thread..... or do I need to post every army I have ever owned over the last 20 or so years every time I make a post? Yeah I didn't think so. So just like you I RESPOND...... the way I want. Next time I will ask your permission before giving my CONSTRUCTIVE suggestions about what one can do with their no longer supported armies. But thanks for letting me know how you feel Automatically Appended Next Post: Smolo82 wrote:Iron Warriors.

And good riddance to it. :shakes his head:
I play WE. Does that count? Also my 4e Marine Army. "The Brotherhood of Steel" hasn't seen action since it was 27 and 2 in 4e. There were alot of Apothicary Sgts...
Well, you could use those Apothecary sergeants as sanguinary priests if you ran as Blood Angels; you could do a pretty conservative counts-as.
...
I also can't believe people would just scavenge their old armies for parts; I don't understand why folks wouldn't keep using old rulebooks in friendly games. If any of my armies were no longer tourney legal from GW, you bet your ass I'd still play them.
Though it would let me buy and paint a Baal to include in the Brotherhood, (Proudly embazoned with the flying sword and gears) but unfortunately the army is mostly a shooting army with counter assault elements, not an assault army with a single good tank.
And it's hard to imagine Squats or the GSC still being in any fashion balanced against 4-5e armies. God knows why GW doesn't put out an "Enemies of the Imperium" codex with Heretics, Sorcerors, GSC, and LATD in it.

Therion wrote:6th edition lands on June 23rd!
Good news. This is the best time in the hobby. Full of promise. GW lets us down each time and we know it but secretly we're hoping that this is the edition that GW gives us a balanced game that can also be played competitively at tournaments. I'm loving it.

Trust me, if they came out with a "Codex: Weirdos" book with all the above, Adeptus Arbites, and all kinds of the sort of background elements of 40k, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
You can still do counts-as, which is an imperfect solution but it's something. Also, BOLS actually did a fairly decent Genestealer cult fandex if I recall correctly. That was back before the website was all opinions and bad advice.

Brother SRM wrote:what about the Genestealer cults, Squats, Dogs of War, Lost and the Damned, and other armies that have been effectively taken out of the game?
I've had various armies nuked by rules changes or neglect, mainly my Dogs of War. Dogs of War were the army that got me into actually playing Fantasy, via the 6E Border Princes campaign. I loved the models, with their variety and options. Around the time 7E WFB appeared to move away from supporting my Dogs of War, I started consolidating my armies down to things that I figured GW would be guaranteed to supports. When 8E WFB put the nail in the coffin, I decided to switch over to Empire, with a plan to convert whatever I could (e.g. Crossbowmen, Artillery) and simply mothball the rest (e.g. Giants, Ogres). I don't have much interest in Fantasy, and will prefer to play BattleLore in its place.
Having learned my lesson in 7E, everything I get or build is "core" stuff now - no more experimentation, as I don't have the time for it.

My Dogs of War got rolled into my VC. It wasn't that big deal since I was not too attached to them. I do miss my redemptionists. Spent all that time tracking down necromunda models. People freak out when you bust out the old chapter approved from 3rd edition, so i just don't use them anymore. /sad 120 redemtionists just sitting there...... Till I see what codexs they are making for sister's and the church half.

I had a half finished Dogs of war army that I was building up from whatever regiments of renown I could find and afford and a bunch of heavily converted centaurs as cav (and also for a future chaos dwarf army)....so now I have halflings, really tiny marauders, manflayers and a bunch of pikes and centaurs that have no home. I found some of them places, but I can't bring myself to play Empire to give the pikes and halflings a home.

I had 120 metal flaggelants from WHFB and mordheim converted up for 40k SOB zealots.
The witchhunter list stopped me using them.
Then I decided to start stripping them to be used for a WHFB empire army, did 30, and GW anonounced their plastic flagellants.
The rest still sit in a carry case :(
My 125 models slayer cult army sits in a storage case.
(Here is the first part of it)
