That IS a pretty nice head. I would probably keep it for myself too

But anyway, I do the same thing. I simply refuse to give away anything unless it's completely useless to me (like ork bits. I'll toss them at whoever wants them ).

Playing chaos means that I need all kinds of bits to use for conversions, and I'd hate to have an "oh no" moment when I remember that I gave it away

Ya know Eilif, now that you mention it I did donate a ton of stuff to my club. 2 boxes full of random models, a box of stuff for terrain and a full sheet of pink foam. It was fun to watch everyone go nuts looking through the boxes, and it has come back. I've gotten some great trades from people that benefitted from that box. Good call, thanks for the reminder.

You just won't catch me giving away beakie helmets or meltas

"Orkses never lost a battle. If we win we win, if we die we die fighting so it don't count. If we runs for it we don't die neither, cos we can come back for annuver go, see!"

I dig how in a setting where giant, muscled fungus men ride Mad Max cars and use their own teeth as currency, the concept of little engineering dudes with beards was considered a step too far down the aisle of silliness.

I used to give most of my bits away as I knew exactly what I did and didn't need, but ever since the loss of two of my armies that has changed unfortunately.

Bits are horded because one day you will need that one specific bit to complete a project.

Here is a pic of that day:

Let me apologies. I meant to just share an experience. The kid is nice, if a bit... odd. Anyway, if he is on here, he has my full apology. Should never posted tired/ angry/ late.

I honestly dont see the point of bits hording. Sure, its nice to have lots of stuff, but at the end of the day, I am not doing anything with them. I go looking when I am in the middle of a project and NEED bits (which I will pay generously for), and I will give bits away if someone needs them. The people who hang on to every little piece of plastic confuse me. Maybe its because I dont do tons of projects that are all mashed together. And half my bits are from BA boxes anyway.

I assume it's the peaked cap one which *everybody* wants more of.

Scoring one off a n00b for FREE??? Awesome.

Personally, I don't just give bitz away, tho I may sell or trade them. I've even bought bitz that I thought were interesting, too. Bitz have value, and pretending that they don't, and should be given away, makes no sense to me. Having a well-stocked, well-organized bitz box is worth something.

No, actually it was the leather russian skullcap with the padding. I prefer the field caps to the peaked caps anyway.

I do like hooking my friends up with good deals on items I don't use anymore. I generally give incredible deals on trades or like a 50% discount to my buddies when it comes to buying models off of me.

The benefit, apart from being a good friend, is that you keep these models in the area. That is one more army in the community to face on the tabletop! Possibly even one you painted yourself!

Six or more years ago people in my area used to freely give bits out (myself included) to each other in the spirit of promoting the game to others. Now because of the self centered mentality of many of late of trying to make a buck (because of what they see on what people are doing on Ebay) I've stopped doing it to people I do not know because I've got burned several times. I've got untold thousands of bits in storage and now only will swap with my friends because they believe in good will and "The Spirit of the Game". They are not there to make money. They are there to have fun.

And if you are fortunate enough to have that kind of good will in your area, please keep it going. It keeps the hobby alive.

Adam's Motto: Paint, Create, Play, but above all, have fun. -and for something silly below-

"We are the Ultramodrines, And We Shall Fear No Trolls. bear this USR with pride".

Also, how does one apply to be a member of the Ultramodrines? Are harsh trials involved, ones that would test my faith as a wargamer and resolve as a geek?

You must recite every rule of Dakka Dakka. BACKWARDS.
