Once upon a time I read one of Silas7's skaven reports where he faced a bunch of brets with a paladin with just virtue of heroism, a lance, a shield and a horse. That paladin single-handedly killed a hellpit, a doomwheel and a screaming bell before being crushed under a flood of vermin. Never has warhammer been more epic to me than that.

A lord ala OnceBitten's kitted out with loads of tricks and stuff might get the killing done better and faster, but there's something elegant and thrillingly heroic about the paladin out pushing his luck

4 attacks, at S6 in the first round, and one round of init 9. You re-roll 1 armor save (2+save), and count on heroic killing blow to get you through. By destroying their weapon, even if you don't KB them in the first round, you should be alright to go for a few rounds against most opponents.

I do something similar. A Brettonian character won't ever be able to survive/kill anything that's in his way, so focusing all of his points into one purpose seems like a big ol' gamble to me. I'd rather be capable of a few different things.
