That's win win. Plain bases from privateer press, sculpted ones from the internet.

Mmm, provocative. That said, something seems off somehow... the gun carriage seems almost petite compared to the others... not very Khadorian!

And theres also a considerable diference between plastic and resin bases, and for those that dont want decorated bases and like the PP styled bases with the beveled look with a deeper inner circle to accomodate sand or water effects it would be very good if PP released them individually.

I like the PP bases for things I do just for display. They have a more finished look to them than flat edged bases. Gives things a more stature/display look.

It's a render of the model and they have someone else to do the filigree.

You know, because having armored horses pulling it in the steampunk setting makes more sense (ref: Khador War Engine discussion).
(I'm not arguing with you, Aggie - you're absolutely right. But considering the other lengths of ridiculousness that PP is willing to go to, if you're willing to suspend a little disbelief, why not a lot more?)

I'm less concerned about the dude pulling it (I just assume it's made out of balsa wood) and more concerned with the idea that it will fall over on any sort of rough terrain.
Rule of cool and suspension of disbelief are fine and dandy, but I have a line, and Privateer are so far away from it that it's a dot. A sad, lonely dot.

Really? I mean, really, this is the straw?
I just don't know how to process objections like this (and others in this thread), where people are complaining about the realism of one particular item, when the entire genre is saturated with the physics of the impossible.

It's pretty simple: we don't mind if they resort to the "physics of the impossible", if the goal is worth it. A horse-drawn Ur-tank, complete with sponsons, is interesting. A church-themed block on wheels is not.

*looks at the Harbinger*
*looks at the Battle Engine*
seems to me the theme is "Macy's Day Parade"
on a more serious note: a little bit of fridge brilliance on the PoM battle engine as it doesnt seem like itd be very nimble on terrain. Remember that Sul (the PoM's home) is desert and theyd be dragging this thing over hard earth and roads as in a procession. If anyone has read the fluff from Legends, just imagine that palm sunday scene when they walked into that Khadoran outpost and the engine would fit in well.

Looks pretty meh to me. I'm not overly impressed with the battle engines, simply due to the logistics problems involved in lugging them around to my LGS and whatnot. Out of all of them, I probably like the Retribution one the most, it fits pretty well with the faction's look.
We'll see what people think when the rules are released. I have a feeling they won't be the huge game-changer that everyone seems to think they will be. And you have to keep in mind, a base the size of a cd will be difficult to maneuver around the battlefield, even with only a few pieces of terrain.

Might look kind of cool with about 6 of the Vassals of Menoth chained to the front towing it too.
They're supposed to be mages, so maybe try to re-sculpt them as floating...

I'm fairly certain thats been taken into account...and I think you're right in that they won't be a massive op game changer, but at the same time I'm fairly sure they WILL add new depth to the game, and certainly add a new dimension. I wonder if, while it will make killing easier, they won't make killing warcasters any easier...

Given their rules have been released, I think it's safe to say they won't be breaking any games any time soon. For those watching it, you may now reset your Doom cycles.
