If the emperor was reborn he would probably end up being a saint eventually so the Inquisition should (they might not) leave him alone and eventually he would be more and more venerated etc etc

Come to think of it he'd be immune to a meltagun to a face, or at least that's what Karamazov thinks anways. Whether or not he actually is though is up for debate.

A side question; Horus was super strong from Chaos but how exactly did he put the Emperor in his current state? If the Emperor has all of his awesome powers and what-not, and the immunity to meltaguns to the face.

The Emperor wasn't fighting him with his full strength because he believed Horus could be redeemed... it just took the sacrifice of Sanguinious and a guardsman/custodes/terminator to prove Horus was to far gone... i mean he did slaughter thousands of his comrades but it was definitely the guardsmen/terminator/custodes that pushed him too far.

So many people in the Imperium already believe The Emperor has come back. Sebastion Thor. And there's a faction of The Inquisition the believes his coming back or acting through people all the time. Usually leads to civil wars and stuff.

I thought the Emperor was so majestically awesome that his power could not be denied? Or am I confusing something else here. I mean he brought an entire Legion (not chapter!) to their knees with a word. I imagine looking at the Emperor would be looking at God himself, no matter what you may have believed all your life, at that moment you're just thinking FUUUUUUUUUUUU~!!
So i can't imagine the High Lords not giving up power. And if any of them harbored treasonous thoughts I'm sure the mightiest psychic in human history would be capable of detecting it and having the man immediately executed, surely he's learned a thing or too about betrayal since you know, the LAST TIME.
But yeah the hivers working straight shifts in some polluted planet on the other side of the galaxy, that's a different story.

If the Emperor did come back he would be doing the whole "lets kick chaos's arse" so wouln't there be massive conscription and such? If so i think the average guardsmen/ex-hiver would believe it was the Emperor.

I kinda think of the Emperor as a less dense Captain Carrot from Terry Pratchetts City Watch series, When your infront of him you want to do what he wants and please him and be a better person due to his perfection and his belief and psychic might, However when his back is turned you forget all that and go back to being the smalkl minded petty selfish creatures you were before.
The High lords would never openly Rebel to the Emperors face but if some got forewarning of his return they may well seek to prevent it. they would justify it to themselves as being the right thing for the imperium for the emperor to remain interred on the golden throne.

Perhaps the Ecclesiarch would pull away from the Imperium, believing that the Emperor is 'false' and wanting to retain thier power, then the SoB would go with them. Apart from that, probably just a couple (hundreds) of power hungry governers would rebel. Apart from that I do not see either the Guard, Navy or Astartes rebel. How would it be possible for somebody who says ''For The Emperor'' before doing everything and anything rebel unless that person has been touched by Chaos. Peace.

I think all the Primarchs coming back would be setting the stage for an epic combat, Perhaps an BA could become a true avatar of Sanguinus or the Salamanders could find all of Vulkans lost relics. I think the Emporer may run around the galaxy for a bit before the galaxy focuses on the eye. He could take control of the hive mind and ally (My enemies enemy sort of deal) with the eldar and possibly Tau.
In codex CSm there is a story that abaddon raged at a load of horus clones killing them all as they weren't horus, whta if one of the survived???

What Chaos god would greed be under anyways? Im guessing Slaanesh or Tzeentch.... but think about it. It's been ten thousand years. Those in charge now could be stopping the Emperors resurrection as we speak. Maybe the number of psychers sacrificed would have to be greater? Maybe those in charge of the sacrificed are only doing what is necessary to keep the Emperor alive......

Yes. The Astronomicon psykers are volunteers they see it as an honour. The ones feed to the Golden Throne not so much I think. That would stop though.

But does the astronomican need "sacrifices" to function properly? I thought the psykers' sacrifices were only meant to keep the Golden Toilet running.

The psykers making up the astronomicon soon burn out and die, they need to be replaced after that.

So in this scenario, if the Emperor where to return by his own means. The high lord's would definitely be executed, the death of thousand and thousands of psykers when it was unnecessary the whole time. Keeping the Emperor of Mankind strapped down for 10k years. They would then probably flee (if they could) and return to their loyal and tell lies about the Imperium.

40k is built upon a huge collection of idiotic karma houdinis. If the Emperor ever did reincarnate, there would be so much "karma" handed out that half the imperial aristocracy would be dead. In some ways, perhaps, they know this and are purposely keeping him in that shrivelled corpse.

Becuase Horus died. The Emperor, according to most sources, still held on to a vestige of life.

Well thats good, because im sure his black crusades would be much more fruitful than Abbadon's. This confrontation is my point however. Horus and countless others betrayed the Emperor while he was still alive (still is but you know what I mean.). Why would it be so hard for it to happen again. It could even be easier given the fact that he relies on his throne to live, and to his enemies may show weakness. People on the thread have said that people would never betray him because he is the savior and all, but it has already happened......

The Emperor has such a force of presence and power that it is indesputable that he is who he is. Astartes Chapter Masters struggle to think, to move, to speak in his very presence, mortals are so awed by his aura that they cannot percieve him unless he wills it.
Psykers can detect and feel his presence, a blinding light lancing out into space, from the solar system he inhabits.
Should the Emperor return, there would be no doubt from any human, Astartes or any other faction of his Imperium.

Not really, alot of people under Horus followed his rank not his ideals. Horus was power-hungry which led him to Chaos. This is the case here as well, power and greed could lead the high lords to do the same thing Horus did, and there is no doubt the Chaos gods would be pissed the Emperor was back in full power. They would definitely welcome the lords with open arms.
