Looks like necrons as ive heard the author of dead men walking (the necron book from blakc libby) let slip its based of the new necrons not the old ones so they already have a codex in the works also tomb kings being *incoming* today looks like its the time of the skeleton pretty soon

also on a side note sisters aren't due till 2012 2013 i believe as they are going to have a massive rework on the models and design down the femininty issues and discussions

Well i'm just going to take a shot in the dark and say csm, eldar or tau. There are no rumors but who could have predicted nids in 2010?

There was a rumor a while back that someone hinted that there was a release for Halloween. Something about an "undead" army. Since TK is confirmed for May, this may mean Necrons is due around that time. That or Vampire Counts is getting updated.

I hope very much that CSMs get updated within the next couple years. I know some codices arguably need it more, but the CSM 'dex is just not as flexible or diverse as a lot of the newer codices (though it's still not shabby by any means). Yeah, I'm obviously baised here, but the CSM have a pretty large fanbase.
-TSons suck now due to cover saves.
-Noise Marines... well, actually I think Noise Marines would be good if you could a buy a plastic kit with more than one sonic blaster in it... Preferably TEN. (Knowing GW, this won't happen )
-Khorne Berzerkers are good.
-But basically most competitve lists are dominated by Plague Marines or, less commonly, Khorne Berzerkers. They need to have all the gods be competitve, not to have one that is amazingly competitve resulting in too many people with it (Nurgle), one you can definitely pull off (Khorne), another that isn't done anymore due to modeling constraints (Slaanesh with Noise Marines), and one that is usually only taken for Daemon Princes (Tzeentch).

Anyway, I would obviously prefer this to happen AFTER GKs and the 'Crons, as they obviously need it more. I'm perfectly happy with the updated CSM 'dex at the end of 2012.

Personally I'd like to see the price of most of the Tau units go down, they are overpriced in general. If I'm lucky they might raise the Fire Warrior's BS to 4 . Though I hope they don't completely redo the Tau for 6th edition, I mean I just started a Tau army, I hope it doesn't all become invalid . BTW when do yall think the new Tau Codex will come out

There's a noise blaster plastic kit on the GW site under bitz. It's 22 dollars and it has 6 guns.

I'm starting to think GW bases its prices on insane troll logic.

That kit is emphatically not plastic. It's metal.

Ah, even worse then. I *hate* their metal figures. Even if you ignore the material problems the things are just too cluttered.

Plastic Noise Marines would make my day. I love Slaanesh Marines! Slaanesh terminators are filthy and amazing. I almost feel guilty using them. This would enable me to make a full Slaanesh CSM army, rather than just wishlisting on paper and proxying *shudder* with my regular marines

Base initiative 5 with dual lightning claws. Bye bye non-furious charge marines. And with marines being the main meta-game...it works well. I go squads of 10, half twinLC, half combi-melta/PW. It is an amazing squad and I took out half of a dark angels army with that one squad led by a khorne lord with a daemon weapon. One Squad, about 600pts total took out about 1000 pts of dark angels in a single turn. My friend was a bit mad...Tzeentch is a decent setup for them too, for the added invul save, but khorne isn't that great (only +1 attack) and Nurgle is good against small arms fire, but anything that can get through a 2+ armor save is going to laugh at T5 as well. Tzeentch and Slaanesh are the only worthwhile termie marks, and Slaanesh far excels at close combat. I believe the saying is "the best defense is a good offense." Hit them before they can hit you.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Hmm, I suppose +1 init counts for a lot when its +1 over a MEQ.

How do you get such a slow unit to the fight though? My experience with Tyranid warriors is that eventually the opponent figures out to never get within 12" of you.

Well Fluff wise at least.

Damn even DA and BT's have nicer codices next to the one we have...,with true and characterfull rules...,not that bland junk that we are forced to be since this abomination came out...

I say screw Necrons they are good enough as it is,CSM or nothing, besides i would like to have a new Dex BEFORE the end of the world!...^^

Nah seriously when you see a Wolf lord with his Sagas, all the options etc and the Deamon Prince with MoK can get...well nothing...

CSM may have taken a serious beating to their fluff, but they are FAR from a terrible codex. I've won by a landslide each time I've used the codex-it all depends on build. Obliterators are amazing, the loadout for terminators is great except for the lack of storm shields, and Lash Princes are pretty good too. Sure, there are changes that should be made: mark of khorne SHOULD grant furious charge and mark of nurgle should add relentless in addition to what they both do already, but the codex plays pretty well, even if it does seem crappy, fluff-wise.

@requia: I haven't dealt with tyranid warriors with this unit, but I've been charged by 2 units of terminators and 8 bikers, plus Belial, and only lost 2 models in the fight and sent my opponent packing. It's great against the marine meta-game, evens out the initiative difference with nids (simultaneous instead of last) and has no difference on low initiative armies. But for the metagame, yes, this unit hits at the same time, and you may not win every fight, but you'll at least tie more than you lose. Try it some time

I would hardly call Dark Angels "nicer" in any way shape or form. They're a blander codex than Chaos Marines in all regards. The new FAQ mitigates that somewhat, but still. And what's so horrible about the fluff in the Chaos codex? Calling it "the worst pile of crap I've ever seen" is hyperbole.

Check out my Youtube channel!

I don't mean dealing with them, I mean getting foot sloggers to the fight. Can't fit 10 termies on a land raider, and since they have no ranged weapons my inclinations would be to have them play chase the jump infantry or the like until an appropriate unit could deal with them (genestealers, or something with lash whips).

I don't think it evens out the init with nids, mostly because nid inits range from 1 to 6+FC though, no real way at all to even them out.

CSM can be extremely competitive if you decide to ignore fluff altogether. Plague Marines and Berserkers led into battle by Kharn or a Slaanesh Lashprince can be very cost effective, powerful and downright hard to put down. Try and play a god-dedicated army, though, you'll run into a hell of a lotta troubles. The new ret-conned fluff just to justfy some of the weirder things like Nurgle Bikers and Khorne Havocs seemed really, really lazy on GW's part.

The entire spectrum of "standardized" codexes (that is, any codex released between the Eldar and Ork codex, including the Eldar, but not Orks) all suffer from this problem. They sacrifice alot of fluffy builds in lieu of a more overall streamlined list.

I really hope your comment got cut off and you didn't actually spell "are" as "r." A lot of people on here get ticked off about text-based lingo as it makes it annoying for adults to read, plus it's a three letter word-that's just completely lazy. If it did get cut off, my apologies. If not, please try to type in normal text. We have plenty of abbreviations for large 40k based terms on here, but "are" shouldn't be shortened. There are quite a few grammar Nazis on here, so just a heads up.

Awesome, my friend will be quite happy. He likes his crons but since I've fielded 3 dreads & Mephiston, they just eat Monoliths (the pre-BA indistructable movable terrian) for breakfast. The single troop choice is by far the worst thing.

May I go a little off topic & ask all you fine fellows what could be in store for the new cron dex?

I would have to disagree about your comment on IG. They did change a whole bunch of things. They made the army much more competitive but they also removed a large part of the fun behind it because for me personally my favorite thing was to experiment in making different variants using the variant system but now you can't do that anymore, that said as an IG player I must say when you play vanilla IG you can blow up almost anything.

an example: I spam tanks and valkries. Pin down your guys with grav chute storm troopers with behind enemy lines doctrine, chimera some ogryns so charge stuff you have sitting at the back like SM scouts, have marbo OBLITERATE everything for barely any points, spam orders at my mechanized infantry to make them as strong as SM in shooting, use mechanized infantry to capture stuff, anything that you still have alive, well get ready for a lot of tanks and artillery (and did I mention spamming tanks? I did? well I'll mention it again for effect )

That's basically a normal game. Wait that was only 1/4 of my points because IG are so cheap?

Sure, 5th ed isn't perfect but its problems are mostly style and nuisance-bases. 4th ed had SERIOUS problems like SMF and assault units that took 4 turns to cross the board, and then were invincible once they arrived.

I mean, GW has put out some literature recently that has gone over poorly, like the BA codex, Planetfall, and 8th ed WHFB, which gives me hope that they are starting to learn not to release stuff until they're sure it's better than what was there before. I mean, their most successful stuff, like the most recent guard and ork codecies were so because they basically left things alone, while tweaking stuff. 5th ed could definitely use a tweaking (wound wrapping, seriously?), but I don't know if there's enough actually wrong with it to justify an entire new rules edition.

I mean, unless someone has a well-sourced rumor that they're doing just that.
