I might try my hand at making one too, although using a different structure than yours.

Sooooooo... a new codex on the horizon and a new fandex is already in the works? Sometimes, I wonder if the writers of fandexes, claiming to fix the problems with the real one, spent the time to study their own codexes and work with them, they might find a little more success and time.

That's not the point though. The point here is to create a combined Inquisition Fandex, which is something that hasn't existed before now. We're not trying to fix anything, this is just a personal project that allows people (That is, Scott) to play using the forces of the Inquisition, rather than the 'Grey Knights' or the 'Sisters of Battle'.

The new codex is rumored to have largely gotten rid of the Inquisition, pushing them to the sidelines as support. plus the WH are still in need of an update.

If you'd read/heard the rumours then you'd know that the Inquisition ain't got much stagetime.

Sometimes, I wonder if the writers of fandexes, claiming to fix the problems with the real one,

Where did I say I was fixing the old one? Which there wasn't by the way. I said I was bringing it in line with 5th and adding a little to it. Or maybe a lot.

spent the time to study their own codexes and work with them, they might find a little more success and time.

I've played WH since I started playing 40K. About 6 years. That long enough?

Here's an idea that I'll throw into my retinue bundle later on: Infiltration. That's what Inquisitors do - they infiltrate suspected communities. So, the Inquisitor and his/her retinue must have Infiltrate quite clearly. Infiltrate almost seems to becoming near-on army-wide now. Eldar anyone?

Still, this could be very deadly, especially as it would allow a Dedicated Transport to outflank, and if that retinue's packed with meltas or lots of strong close combat weapons..

@Scott (well, everything here is..) - I understand why the retinue affects his statline, I just don't like it. One size fits all is how GW has made it, and we should stick with that at least.

This is a brilliant idea. If its possible; could this be uploaded somewhere? I wonder if I could use it.

I always prefered the Inquisition side.

If I knew where to upload it I would. I have no idea.

I have the armoury done, but would like some more additions to it as it could be a bit bigger.

I think a few more items (like about 4/5) should fill it nicely.

Also any ideas beyond the standard Extra armour, pintle weapon stuff for vehicle upgrades?

Dang it, you guys are forgetting the Adeptus Arbites!
Whenever there is a rebellion on an Imperial World, whenever there is an investigation by Inquisitors, who is always there? The Adeptus Arbites!

It's not exactly hard to obtain Arbite Miniatures either. You could use Necromunda Enforcers, or IG conversions (SM scouts with Cadian arms?).

And what about Household Guards? Hundreds of Inquisitors have private units and armies of soldiery with training similar to or superior to the IG. They could be armed with loads of different weapons. Autoguns, Lasguns and Bolters could all be chosen as basic equipment, with a wide assortment of Flamers, Grenade Launchers and Heavy Stubbers making up for special weapons. You could have heavy weapon teams, IG style, or have individuals carrying Heavy weapons, Space Marine style.

And then we get to vehicles.... Every single vehicle class in the Imperium could be requisitioned by an Inquisitor. Just imagine a Land Speeder Storm carrying Nott Scouts, but Stormtroopers! Or even a Land Raider Crusader disgorging a swarm of Arco-Flagellants. The possibilities are endless.

For special characters, it is a MUST to include Inquisiitor Quixos (read about him near the back of the old Daemonhunters book), the greatest radical in the history of the Ordo Malleus.

Would the Adeptus Mechanicus make an appearance? If so, you could have units of Skitarii in Heavy Support, Tech-apprentices in Elites, maybe a return of the combat-driven Electro-priests (from 2nd edition).

Just some suggestions y'know....

Many and varied forces in progress according to waxing & waning whims.

I may never finish an army in my life.

Arbites will be shown by ISTs exchanging Hellguns for shotguns and possibly stubborn. Might make a Judge a retinue option or squad upgrade or elite maybe.

I've always thought either inducted guard or ISTs covered household guard or personnal armies.

Not quite. They can ask SMs chapters for stuff but they don't have to say yes. Of course if they say no there will likely be repercussions but still they can say no.

For special characters, it is a MUST to include Inquisiitor Quixos (read about him near the back of the old Daemonhunters book), the greatest radical in the history of the Ordo Malleus.

I know about Quixos. Great little story on him in the DH 'dex. First though I want the basic stuff (like most units) finished before moving onto SCs.

As much as I would love for the Admech in this I really think they're too diverse for it. Perhaps Tech-apprentices and maybe Skitarii as another swap of weapons for basic ISTs. But really the two groups (Inquisition and AdMech) are too diverse to cover in one book. Plus there are at least 3/4 Admech 'dexes out there. And if your opponent is letting you use a fandex then he'll probably let you ally with another!

I'm really stumped for fast attack chioces.

I'm thinking about some kind of walker.

If I have stick it in to actually have more than one option in FA then I'll stick a valk (not vendetta) in.

Any ideas welcome. I just need something to work with.

(This is also a discrete bump.)

Arco-flagellants (or Penitent Engines for that matter) have no business being in a Inqusition only codex. They are units created by the Ecclesiarchy. The simple fact is the Inquisition is not really an army. Thats why they employ the Chamber Militants to do large scale dirty work or employ the Guard to act as a Hammer.

To be more constructive though might I suggest approaching it from the angle of carapace armored guardsmen with special equipment and/or deployment rules. I'd give the troopers Stubborn to represent the hypnotherapy they get and make them leadership 8 base with 9 for the sergeant. I've give them all hellguns, hell pistols, and a close combat weapon also.

For heavy support I'd do infiltrating stormtroopers with targetting gear dropping pie plates (from orbit, artillery, etc. however you like). I'd put in naval support like Vendettas or Vultures as well.

The HQ would probably end up resembling an IG command squad along with the Inquisitors

Fast Attack might be tricky but troops in Valkyries with a scout move would be a plus. Perhaps some other sort of fast vehicle might be in order or troopers on bikes (plus they get T4)

Dare I say it? Yes, I do. Grey Knight bikers.

Okay, I know you're not looking for them so nevermind, but it'd still be cool in my opinion.

Hmph. Fast Attack.. how about DSing Storm troopers as one option? And of course an Inquisitorial Flame Tank, a la Hellhound. Perhaps call it a "Purgator", and do something similar to the SoB Flame tank (I forget its name), or a Baal Predator. Perhaps just copy the Hellhound, give it a new name, some new wargear and new weapons?

This is seriously professional, and I say that only having read three pages, one of which is purely artwork. Whoever did this, I congratulate; amazing work they've done. If I didn't know better, I could've mistaken it for official!

Seems like the mega 'dex some people thought Inquisition would turn into.

A nice job I must say. I read as far down as the gk section.

But it doesn't invent any new units (for the inquisition.) and just shoves what was in the previous two codexes into one.
