That is a great looking set.

Might need a couple of those.

Well Space Hulks have multiple mile-long starships mashed together so i would say... a bajillion?

Now to play some of the bigger Space Hulk missions... the $230 deal should do you.

A couple questions.

How well does the interlocking work?

Is it a true interlocking where they lock snugly together?

Or is it more of a peg in a hole to keep them from shifting but can still easily slide out?

They fit together well and are pretty snug -- casual bumping I don't think would pop it apart but could not lift entire set up and expect it to say together. I put 2 hallways and a room together and picked it up and stayed together

each end has a tab that fits a slot and could always take the time to rare earth magnet them -- a few of the photos show an end

I asked the same question and I believe I was told 4 sets would get you the same amount of tile that come in game.

These could also be useful imbedded in the 'ground' as hi-tech permanent trenches, especially for DKoK fans. Certainly cheaper than the Forgeworld trenches.

This isn't possible with 4 sets no matter what edition of space hulk that you play.

Just going by the room count, to do 3rd edition, you will need at least 9 possibly 10 depending on how you use the tiles to best effect to create all pieces present.

Here is a precise list in picture format of all 3rd ed space hulk tiles and quantities needed.

If you want to do more than that, you are looking at 18+ sets for the guy who needs every space hulk tile ever made.

Here is a break down list of the tiles and how many are needed for each mission in the mission book and white dwarf (does not include citadel journal missions ):

http://spacehulk.beckerf.de/FloorTiles.pdf

And here is a break down that I made of one of each tile ever printed:

The more exotic tiles are pretty unique and only need one may be two of but there are quite a few tiles that are needed if you are a completionist.

Nice stuff. I'd love to see this company do something similar for Necromunda!

I like the idea, the material and the price, but the design is a bit too bland and uninspired for my taste.

This is a really good breakdown, thank you. Unfortunately I am a tile completionist and so I will need to get a craaapload of sets in order to make every tile needed for every mission in Hellfury's Hulk Archive (including the 5x5 tiles!)

That's a good point actually, and the 3rd edition tiles are really beautiful, but they could be a good jumping off point for some nifty conversions? A computer console here, a `stealer corpse there, wires snaking out of walls, piles of skulls...

I'm going to have to sit down with all of my tiles tonight and count them out so see which package suits best. What am I going to do with 12 4-square rooms?

/Disclaimer----I know 'of' the guy that started this terrain set. 'Know of', as in he runs a LGS and I've purchased a few things from him (My friend bought many sets and has given it to me to paint/construct).

That out of the way, I can't say enough good things about it (Even though most of it is sitting in plastic still!).

What I like:

The plastic is a much higher quality than GW plastic IMO. I think you could drive over this stuff and puncture your frigging tire, just absolute rock solid plastic.

Custom space hulks = easy. Probably the best design I've seen for a modular space hulk board and I've searched a lot for a 3d board. The only one that would compete would be a Hirst Arts Hulk that would require many molds and a friggin lot of casting.

The 1/2 wall is a great compromise for 3d terrain. I looked at making my own hulk and even constructed a few prototypes to test it...and while full walls were nice looking you couldn't see the models inside half the time unless you looked 'straight' down into it. On the other hand, a flat space hulk just looks boring to me. This 1/2 wall aspect gives you that great sense of hulk claustrophobia while retaining playability. Perfect compromise.

My ONLY dislike:

I wish there were larger rooms available. As it is, I'm going to construct my own large rooms and attach it to the hulk...but I wish they had 'very' large floor sections available. Pretty small gripe!

Well, there is one minor other thing to dislike...

The doors are between space and not IN the spaces.

Not a huge deal as this can be worked around in the rules, but not exactly perfect for space hulk...just close.

Don't look at it as "What am I going to do with 12 4-square rooms?" the set is very modular, with 12 4-square rooms you could interconnect them build a large 8x6 square landing bay. The same solution applies the comment "I wish there were larger rooms available." You can combine the 9-square rooms as well to make very large rooms with no conversion required at all.

My gaming group owns eight of these tiles. The quilty of the tiles are top notch. They are super solid and fit wonderfull together. With very little work you can make wide corridors almost any shape ship or even sewers. There is a little detal in it that I don't know that they thought of is that the floor tiles can hide LED wiring and small batteries. Top notch and worth every penny. Our group will have some WIP of our tiles soon.

Also keep in mind that it says more room variations are coming. Perhaps you can email the website, ask what they plan on producing next.

In fact, I think it says that it has 3 expansions coming soon. Just have to find out what soon is now. Haha.

Looks like a good accessory for walkways etc, but seems a bit tight for 40k - the 15mm miniatures in the pictures did seem to fit pretty well.

Great stuff, thanks very much for the photos Micropanzer!

Also, thanks for those rules Kid_Kyoto there are some great ideas in there!

Think these tiles could be perfect for the new IA Badab books, and of course sprucing up Space Hulk.

Love the floor panels and how they lock together.

I can see uses for them in normal terrain such as builidng walkways, platforms, bridges, etc.

I love how the tiles make the it feel tight for 40mm based models because Space Hulks were cramped and close in fighting. I was able to put the large spce hulk map together with little to no conversion needed with 8 packs.

Can I see some pics with 25mm bases? Can you put 2 normal models side by side?

The squares are 45mm wide, so no. You should be able to fit two 25mm bases in a single square, but not side by side.

Thanks for the credit, I finally decided to de-lurk after many years.

I've had a look through the 3rd edition missions and it looks like 6 sets should be enough, with a bit of creativity, to do the 3rd edition games. 8 sets needed if you don't want to have to muck around with the tiles and/or layout too much.

I'll be getting these, but shipping to the UK is pretty high.. not to mention the customs taxes on top of that when it arrives.. so I'm gonna wait and see what expansions come out before making a big purchase.

Mostly interested in the vertical build expansion sprue at the moment, that could turn this set into a great double-duty piece for necromunda and pretty much any other sci-fi skirmish game.

wow these are amazing. I skipped over them when I saw them on TGN, because I thought they were paper from the picture.

Plastic now... plastic is super useful. And the area under the "floor" is very useful, for LEDs, cutting out segments etc.

Might have to get a few sets... when I spend money next.
