The sphinx is carved from light foam, as are the obelisks and other rubble pieces on the display. They've been working on the window display for quite a long time, on and off. Probably between other projects.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

that is amazing, one thing I think you should suggest to its makers is a FW tomb crawler or two climbing down the sphinx, maybe one mauling a termie, that would be awesome.

Hum. I think the idea is quite good, and I really like the board (although it looks like the sphinx was askew, but I think that is perspective).

But while the models are arrayed nicely, the poses strike me as odd, and somehow reducing the drama inherent. Most of the Marines have a kind of 'at ease, stand by for orders, nothing's happening atm' kind of stance. Bolters held sideways, not pointing anywhere specific, heads scanning the area. BUT.. boys, the enemy is right there! They should all be in firing positions, pointing their bolters at the necrons, there should be muzzle flashes, and all that.

And that is not there at all, which somehow diminishes the epicness, which is sad, because otherwise it is a great thing. I'm far from being a hobby hero, sure, but if the people at this store put in so much effort, I think it would be worth putting in that extra bit of effort and not ignoring the poses, but making them all dramatic. I would really like to see that.

"We train young men to drop fire on people, but their commanders won't allow them to write "feth" on their airplanes because it's obscene!" (Colonel Kurtz in Apocalypse Now)

And you know what's funny? "feth" is actually censored on a forum about a dystopia where the nice guys are the ones who kill only millions of innocents, not billions.

The Destroyer Turrets are awesome, and totally Necronesque. The warriors are also positioned just right, they look like an implacable tide of undead machines.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

That looks great, I agree w/ the previous poster regarding the minis poses, but its a minor annoyance. Do you have any more WIP pics of this? I'm curious to see how you actually built the sphinx.

Wow...just wow!!

The crons got this one in the bag! But you know what? Thats why I like space Marines. They're going to lose. They KNOW they're going to lose. But they're going to melt as many of those space skeletons down into recycleable tin cans as possible before they do!

Really catches the flavor of both armies. The Marines, fighting against all odds, the Crons an unstoppable iron tide, bent on annihilation!

One of them filthy casuals...
