Angels Porphyr, to be played with the vanilla codex. Dig the scheme and there's next to no established fluff for them, so there's little to conflict with (8 companies committed to 3rd war for Armageddon and one named dreadnought is all I've found). Plus, if I'm ever stymied when it comes to naming characters or vehicles, I can just crack open a history book and gank the names of Imperial Byzantine figures, playing up the porphyry link. Gives plenty of ideas for terrain, as well.

It's not so bad. Everything you could want can be fielded via bike or skimmer and you have a SC in the book.

I dread painting a white army, so props to you sir.

800 brethren and 2,000 other personnel were expected to reach Crows World within no more than 12 hours. They never arrived.

Many people have talked about how bad painting white is but i've started and though it may be my inexpierence talking i think their looking great. I admit though darker colors would be a little more forgiving. I'll have to start my third round of white touch-ups after I'm through painting my red which does make things much harder

I'll be the first poster to admit I play Ultramarines. I liked em back when I thought the Crimson Fists were a founding chapter (they're on the cover of Rogue Trader man!).

I haven't played 40k since 3rd ed and by that time i was long off the Imperial Marines, however my very first army was the Space wolves, picked my first box of blood claws up in 1990.
i think it was the black wolfs head logo and the fiery red hair that got me interested, my own guys had my family crest on which was 3 wolves on a silver background i even have leman russ to lead them
still got him actually he's due a strip and re-paint.
Now i collect the odd blood angel bits thanks to Space hulk but i paint and model now i don't play anymore (except the odd game of necro)

WOW...look at all of the Successor Chapters! Man, that is a surprise.

Also, I have 5 Sternguard and 5 Vangaurd painted up as Deathwatch. The only problem, is how to use them as an army.

You can always use Scouts as troops, but that is not in the Fluff. So, they are a Combat Patrol army only...

Wish GW would release another WD article, or a Deathwatch unit in some Codex, so we could move forward with these.

I can still remember when a box of 30 Space Marines was $30.00. Now THAT'S old school! In fact, I started playing in the Rogue Trader days...yes, I am that old. Played Warhammer Fantasy for years before Rogue Trader even came out...
