They really pulled away from the RPG aspect and geared it towards action. The graphics for the PC version took a big hit too = /. Everything lost a ton of detail, even with everything on high. Maybe it will be better with the full game, but I doubt it.

It got consolized, unfortunately for you PC gamers. The Detail was amazing for me, and the Actiony gameplay was outstanding, with the exception of my healer mage. Heal didn't recharge quick enough, so SPAM SPAM SPAM the standard attack....

All I hope for is Blood Magic to make a return. Even if its not as overpowered, I will still use it. Blood Magic for the effin win!

I found it a little awkward try to spam attack targets due to the fact the left mouse button is bothn the action key and the click movement key

I dont think they could have that level of fast paced action AND the detailed graphics of the first dragon age in the same game. People's computers would likely explode.

I just hope they bring the arcane warrior back, it was my favorite class.

Just played through the demo, and thought it was rather good. Has been very much so streamlined since Origins, helped most likely by the fact the PC AI actually seems to be semi-intelligent in ability usage now (Mainly when it comes to AoE).

Played through as a healer mage, and I will agree that the cooldown on Heal is rather large. However it does heal the target a -very- substantial amount, and with proper tanking, your tank doesn't take a hell of a lot of damage. I also did like that you can actually do a semi-decent amount of damage simply with your staff now, and the animation is -alot- less boring.

I must say that I don't think I like the fact that it seems to be less punishing to drop an AoE on a party member, even if I do see the tactics that it opens up.

About to start through as a rogue.

I got the vib that the Demo is Normal: No FF at all.

Hopefully Nightmare retains that part.

Edit: Just played through as a bow rogue....

HOLY CARP!

Were bows always that powerful?

It's quite possibly, but from memory didn't normal difficulty in DnD usually include friendly fire? I'm fairly confident it did in DA:O, although saying that now I'm probably wrong .

Bows were always nasty, Leliana used to be a DPS machine if you played her right....but they do seem to have taken another step up.

I got the Steam Demo and have yet to complete it since it loves to crash all the time. Also the demo made me realize how silly it is when everyone in a fantasy setting has a British accent, that trope needs to die. My god the lady Hawke VA was the worst, I wanted to slap her through my monitor.

The art design is better but the execution is a little off, less detail and the animations seemed a bit wonky, especially the running. Combat was fun though again the animations were a bit too much, I mean for godsake just him with the sword don't do a backflip.

Btw am I the only one who named their character Mike?

Edit: What's with people praising the first DA's graphics? Aside from character models that game looked horrendous from a design and technical standpoint.

Only humans really have the English accent. otherwise its American accents for dwarves and elves.

Although I'm not to sure on qunari as I have only ever heard 2 talk in DA:O

I think the horribleness of lady Hawke makes up for the dwarves and elves : P

I played the demo and I must say I am disappointed.

The camera is totally ridiculous. It's the same camera as was in origins but you can't zoom as far as you could in origins. It seems the bioware intentionally made it suck.

Also I have heard about this more intense combat but all I see is origins on fast forward mode. I actually could out run enemies with my mage and sometimes shoot them and still dodge them when they were swinging at my mage. Clunky animations won't help at all.

Another thing is that the graphics are suppose to be better but to me they look just as good as oringins.

It just seems that bioware can say anything they want to people and they believe it. The stupidity of human species (aka console gamers) never seizes to amaze me.

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.

If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in.

Nah man, Easy and Normal didn't have FF, Hard had half, and Nightmare was full on Friendly Fire.

I'll say they took it a step up. Going to have to make a Rogue in Origins with a bow to get broken into one. Besides, I need another origin other than my Bloodmage anyway.

Nothing wrong with the Camera on Console.

Animations were not clunky and the Intense combat was totally better on Console.

Graphics are fine.

Game is fine, buy a console.

I didn't notice anything bothersome with the camera. And while the intense combat is essentially a fast forward mode, that's what makes it intense/visceral. Timing, judicious use of slow-down, and the like enhance the combat experience.

The graphics were fine but not any better than Origins. The comic book style is kinda neat, not sure how I feel about it just yet. At least the art design is better this time around.

"You do you want me to find some Coconuts for you, Dinosaur PC gamer? "

I'm not exactly sure what this means but PC gaming is da best, you're just in denial

There's actually no way to discern that except for the little flag in the corner. But if you want to white-knight random people on the web that's cool. Besides English is the only real language anyway.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

"Never seizes to amaze me" is a phrase which uses proper English grammar...

It should be "never ceases to amaze me" however in many accents cease and seize are homonyms.

As I understand, Dragon Age 2 is a separate story, happening at the same time as Origins in the start, and then after.

Seeing that they say Origins took place (including Awakenings) like 2-3 years, Dragon Age 2 will take place over 10(20?) years.

This is true.

It's going to suffer the same problem that ME1 and ME2 did.

ie, the second game is different enough from the first that some of those who liked the first will not like the second.

and there will but much bitterness between the two sides...

For my part, I got bored quite quickly with it. For the amount of button mashing it required the spectacle payoff was lacking IMO.

Don't judge so quick on the Demo ^.^

On the separation of the two games, I don't know if it will be as drastic as you say.

As far as I can tell, it looks like you'll play the beginning going through a completely different story in the Free Marches, getting information or something from what is happening back in Ferelden.

And then you go from there. Things will start to become completely new. It is speculation, though. What you say will probably be true if Hawke and Company don't go back to Ferelden or something.

[sarcasm]You're right; I should buy the game and play it through to the end just to make sure the demo wasn't giving me a false negative.[/sarcasm]

We'll see, for my part I will not be buying it.

You ever play Brutal Legend?

The Demo was NOTHING like the actual game. Made a fair few people angry, that.

To be honest, I don't care if you buy it or not.

I love the Dragon Age series, and all I saw in Dragon Age 2 were improvements on the PC.

Combat was engaging and much more graphically pleasing.

I really, really find it hard to believe people say its the same graphically when you see Isabella. Her model is gorgeous, and I'm not talking her huge "assets". Everything was very smooth, and I felt very engaged when the game looks great, and my character talks.

I played it and liked it immensely, other than the fact that you cant jump. It's a little un-heroic having to run down the path another 50 feet while getting shot at, then circle around, rather than leap up the knee high ledge to get to grips with the enemy.

Also, I'll be a sad panda if I can't play an Arcane Warrior again.

I'll concede that the character models are great but everything else isn't that impressive graphics-wise.

Eh, I played it and it's not enough to really say. I'm not terribly impressed by it. Too much button smashing for auto attacks. Feels A LOT like Age of Conan.

Voice acting for femHawke is terrible, that alone might keep me from ever getting the game.

Well I played through the demo tonite as a warrior... bit too much mashing of the regular attack I'd say. Things should seriously die faster, its not exactly fun to just mash your attack button, especially if you're not even doing combos or anything.

Prefer Mass Effect 2 much better so far.
