The worst thing I'd say I've done is knocking the paint water all over my drying minies and pieces I'm just gluing.
After that, I'd say dipping my brush in the paint pot and getting it all over my fingers, not realising and then there being finger prints of that paint all over my models.

I stuck a paintbrush in my dremel, loaded the brush up with warlock purple and turned it on. Made a really nice effect on the fire prism I was working on. I think I was drunk or something.
The most painful thing was drilling up under my fingernail with a dremel. Hurt for about three minutes, then I got over it and continued working, with blood everywhere. Good times.

i was in my kitchen and trying to open my can of army painter spray which had a seal which said to use a screwdriver to pop it open... i only had a kitchen knife handy so tried to break the seal... i did that and more, i ended up piercing the can and the silver spray paint didnt leak the liquid, it ended up spraying the paint everywhere... i dropped it on the floor and the black laminate and the cupboards had a lovely smooth coat of platemail silver. suffice to say the missus was none too happy, especially as i was more peeved about having to buy a new can of spray

I tried to get back into the hobby last year, but wanted to escape scorn from my wife, so for a while it was a secret vice. I would always get home from work first, and have a couple of hours to fiddle about with.
I was in the middle of basing some marines and i'd had an accident. I'd been careless and one of our kittens had knocked the tub of watered down PVA.
All down the front of my jeans. All over my hands. All over my kitten.
Now, Watered down PVA always looks slightly suspect at the best of times, but the jeans I was in were my decoraring jeans - with a broken zip.
One man, covered in what looks like spunk, with his flies open, desperately trying to clean up himself and a very sticky, very vocal kitten.
Cue wife.
Cue interesting conversation about appropriate use of kittens.
Worst idea I've ever had hobbywise? Trying to assemble a 3rd ed avatar. Repeatedly. Ah, the naivety of "yoof"

There'd be better stories if the thread was just "stupid things you have done".
Nailguns are not toys. Bandsaws are not toys. Soldering irons are not toys. Hammers are not toys.
Basically, a there's a lot of things that aren't toys. O_o

A while back my desk was covered in school books and stuff and I couldn't be bothered cleaning it.
So I got my laptop and had the bright idea of surfing the 'net while having paint and water pots on the keyboard.
Needless to say, the water pot fell over and my keyboard is now many differnet colours.

Custom paint job!
Another cautionary tale for those who shape thier brush points with thier lips.
If you do insist on doing it, at least make sure your brush is clean. If you can't manage that, then at least refrain from doing it in the morning before work, only to realise at the end of the day you've been walking around looking like adam frigging ant.

Ever cut towards yourself and thought that it was a pretty bad idea? Just to be confirmed that it was a bad idea a micro second later, when the knife slipped into your finger tips. Its most painful when you know you are doing something stupid but still carry on with it.

Once upon a time (a good five or six years ago) I was just starting at a new modelmaking job making prototype airplane seats around existing armatures, i was cutting out vac formed plastic seat trays resting the 2mm thick plastik on my belly and fresh new scalpul blade cutting down toward me when .................
Yes you guest it the blade slipped from the plastic and I stabbed myself in the belly....... very sheepishly i checked my belly pulling up my t-shirt to find a small 3mm wide clean cut, then turning round to my new employer and saking "so who's the first aider round here anyway?"
cue embarasing revelation of how I'd just stabbed myself and being given a plaster.
I'm not sure if this is more or less embarasing than the kitten pva story or not.

Most of these stories is part of the reason I don't use a knife.
That and I'm crazy so would use it for stuff other than hobby useage.
Or it might be because I need ID to get a knife.

This, but with superglue. Didn't come out straight away, and now I have a blind spot.
Also, once, I was casually using my x-acto to remove some mould lines on a few Ork boys. Completely outta the blue, I sneeze. The normal response to a sneeze is to put your hands over your nose/face, right?
Well, my hands got half way towards my face when I though "Oh eye injury ahead" so I sorta twitched and pulled my hand outta the way.
Bearing in mind that this all took place over the space of less than a second, the twitch was so extreme I ended up jamming the x-acto straight into my left thigh. 'Bough 1.5/2 inches deep.

Since I'm a paragon of modeling safety, my knife nicks rarely bleed and even then, only a little. I don't lick brushes or drink paint water, either, but I have occasionally smeared/splodged/dragged paint onto those "woops!" magnets - the "freshly and (finally satisfactorily) completed other areas" of models. I seem to be doing pretty well for myself.
Pretty much all of my more painful/damaging hobby moments don't come from models. They came first from skateboarding, then from stage combat (13 stitches and a few severed nerves), then from armoring (talk to pretty much any armorer - if you're using metal, it ain't done 'til you've bled on it), then from occasional dabbling in Markland frat/SCA heavy combat.

I cut my finger with a hobby knife whilst trimming the flash off plastic tank bitz. Went and washed it, bandaged it up, etc. Went back to modelling.
Cut the same finger again immediately. Duh.
Not quite so injury related, but is it only me who finds it possible to unintentionally and inexplicably fling a fine detail brush halfway across the room whilst painting, using no more than a small unexpected muscular spasm or nervous twitch?

For the following few days my wife and daughter also reminded me.
