No Sunshine! Because that's OOP stuff, and it's rare and it'd ruin the fluff/lore, and me being a prestine wargamer, blah blah.
Nah, but seriously. I wouldn't mind having the MK1 card around ya know? I blame the MTG player in me.

Water.
Anyways, aside from the battlebox...
I'm thinking of purchasing the following later on...
Skarlock
Seether (2)
Deathjack
Pistol Wraith
Defiler (2/3)
Are these good to look into?
Any Cryx players that know what are a "must have"?

Can't talk when your dead...
Are you planning on sticking with pdenegra? If so I would suggest looking at Nightmare, her character jack.

I'm kinda 'meh' on the Nightmare with either Denny. (Fluffwise, Nightmare wouldn't be around with pDenny...)
Denny is a focus hog and the NM is not very forcus efficient...in addition, as cool as stealth is on it, I find that generally you want it non-stealth as an intervening model with prime and especially epic Denny.
With pDenny you want high damage output options who may not hit very well, in addition she wants some ranged elements in the form of cryx or merc stuff.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

I don't like the Deathjack. One time, he tied my Typhon's neck in knots. Not nice... But then, the next time, Typhon ripped off his arms and marked them as his territory. Took forever to get the smell out...

While I like playing deathjack every once in a while he is very expensive pointswise to field. I usually can get by with less expensive jacks. When he does take to the field he will kill a lot of stuff however, especcially with the right castersupport.
For you opening purchases consider a max unit of mechthralls and min banethralls. They both hit very hard, especially under dennys spells and feat, while they will also give you a numerical advantage for 10 points. (mechs are 10 for 5, some of the cheapest infantry in the game, but they can still teir jacks appart..)

Hard to do when I don't bring Swordsmen! Or any models with a soul for that matter! But I don't hate him as much anymore. He dies to a charging Scythean as much as any other 'jack out there. Now I just need to find a way to kill off that Avatar...

I would play just the battle box then add a troop like Bane thralls, (speed 6 and they roll three dice on damage, 4 on a charge) and a solo or two. The pistolwrath is a good one so is a necrotech.
Play this at around 25 points for a while then add more to 35. When you move up add a unit attachment or a solo that grants skills to a unit. This way you are learning the game's rules and that tactics bit by bit.
Also the deathjack is like 11 or 12 points but he is amazing. He is just a third of your army so keep that in mind. Will he make up his points? Automatically Appended Next Post: Also, something not brought up was tiered army list. If you look at the Cryx book you will see that if you take a only select models with a warcaster, you get extra things like advance move or models added to your army without paying their point cost. Some who are just now getting into the game are looking at these tiers and gearing their collecting around them to start.
Others thing that you should play one set list for a while then instead of changing the list around only change the caster so you can see who the same list plays with a different warcaster.

thralls are speed 5 btw. they do however have stealth, making the speed a bit less of an isseu when going towards a gunline. Also remember denny's ghostwalk to grant pathfinder..

depends on what you want. thralls are more in your face with a potential higher damage output (thanks to darkshroud) and have a better protection from shooting in stealth. knights have ghostly, allowing them to ignore freestrikes and terrain (sort of like ghostwalk, but as a special rule) and have a reach weapon with vengeance. This allows them to do more damage to a unit when 1 or more of them falls. Still only def 12 with no way of improving it though..
In my view the addes protection of stealth is wort it. they are cheaper too...

Thralls vs. Knights, some of it depends on if the UA is involved.
Otherwise, in general, Thralls hit harder but Knights are likely to get there faster.
I personally like Knights better, ignoring Freestrikes and Terrain is a big thing, and IMO they get there and do damage earlier than Thralls and that's what I personally need.
And reach, best rule in the game IMO.

If you are starting with the Battlebox you have Deneghra as caster, so you have easy access to Ghost Walk.
This makes the Bane Thralls my first choice, over Bane Knights. Take a Skarlock and use it to cast Ghost Walk as needed.
Though your first unit really should be mechanithralls. A full ten. This costs 5pts.
They can hit like trucks when Denny Feats or gets Crippling Grasp up.
Then it opens your options to add the Brute Thrall WA to them or take a necrosurgeon if you like.
I would play about a dozen games of just Battlebox.
Then add a min McThralls and Pistol Wraith to get to 20pts.
Then you can max out the McThralls and add the Skarlock for 25pts.
I don't think you will regret buying McThralls, Skarlock, or Pistol Wraith.
You may not always use them, but the option is nice.

McThralls are nice ruleswise, just not so great models...
As for access to Ghost Walk true, but that just adds 2 points to the unit.
The Skarlock could be busy doing other things or saving points on it to get Knights and 1 point else where.
Both Thralls and Knights (IMO) look much better than McThralls.

Looks of a unit mean diddly in Warmachine.
If the rules are good enough, you use them.
Cephalyx are bad-ass models, but the rules suck, so you don't see them.

You need to quit thinking from Gaspy's POV.
Denny loves the Skarlock, and it should probably get into her lists as soon as you can.
The Skarlock will not always need to cast Ghostwalk.
There is not that much terrain on most Warmachine tables.
My opponents rarely leave me the gaps needed to sneak a Bane model thru another unit, Thrall or Knight.
I will use the Skarlock to Ghost walk an Arc Node right past the front lines if I can make the hole.
I can't do that with the Bane Knights.
The Skarlock isn't tied to the unit, either, he can cast any 3FOC spell at any target with the Warcaster's FOC stat.
If you are only using it to Ghost Walk units and that is it, you are doing it wrong.
He gives you another bounce of Crippling Grasp, Parasite, whatever you need.
