True. But we need to differentiate the religious machine spirit from the normal AI.

According to the beliefs of the AdMech is present in every single piece of machinery they produce. They believe a termy suit or even a lasgun has a machine spirit for example (in other words, that it is sentient), and that the termy suit or the lasgun will not work properly if we don't pay enough attention to it.

On the other hand the machine spirit can also be the AI of various advanced imperial machines, such as a LR or a Titan.

Actually, it makes me wonder which one is the more intelligent: a nid bio-titan or an imperial titan's MIU?

MIU gets smarter with the more 'users' it has whereas the Bio titan would have to gain experience unless it had as synapse fellow helping him along in which case he'd be fine.

Every tyranid learns from defeat when it is remade. Especially something as important as a bio-titan. Whereas if a titans MIU is destroyed...... it's game over.

There's a thought. On what manner of hardware is a Machine-Spirit AI stored? Solid-state? Hard drive?

Excellent question.

I really don't know. Actually, I've never read anything about how the machine's spirit is stored.

I guess it is something more complicated than a hard drive or a solid state drive. I'm not really an expert, but I don't think a hard drive would be able to house a software as complicated as a complete AI.

It could be that the processing unit is sufficiently complex to have a "personality" of sorts without needing to store simulated-sentience programs somewhere.

It was aid in halo that AI's eventually die out do to over-thinking. They gain to much knowledge and I guess burn out. Possible here?

Unlikely. Most Titans MIUs are thousands of years old. Many of them even date back to the HH or even before. AFAIK, none of them ever suffered any kind of psychic trauma. They don't seem to age actually.

But maybe there is a special kind of magos within the titan legions which act as titan psychiatrist?
