Wow, I never actually stopped and thought about how much I'd spent on the war barbies until now. Dang, whose idea was this! At least 1600 dollars which amazingly at the moment is less in US dollars! Still, got a very big core of IG and Marine armies now, so thats a plus, and a hundred and nineteen genestealers that I bought for a song! In your face Hock Shop!

Around 500-700ish spent in 2010. Started the hobby late 2009 with free models from a friend and borrowed paints from a really good friend.

Invested quite a bit on tools and paints but all is worth every penny.

A good bit of what I 'bought' last year was through trading on here, so shipping and models put me around $300. Not bad if I may say so.

Actually, I made a mistake: I fall into 2500-5000 dollar range rather than the 1000-2500 range.

some highlights:

airbrush
display cabinets x 3
all tools including desk, lamp, rotary tool
space wolf, tau full armies
and the jewel, which probably accounts for 30% at least was acquiring the majority of the rackham metal confrontation models--a few hundred models in total

I have no regrets--managed to save quite a bit AND pay off the bulk of my personal debts last year.

I worked on a TV serie as an extra for 35$ an hour for the hole summer with some days at 10$ when we were doing shots inside, but I got some great Mula.

I bought for 800$ woth of Tau the finish my 2k list and some extra to vary the lists format

¨Started¨ a Dark Angel army (one box of veterans and some tactical) + codex

a Necron Batlleforce with a Monolith + codex,

a 4k Skaven army (half of the models are the old ones in a big box I bought for 50$) including a Doomwheel, the new Screaming Bell, some new Stormvermin (love those), 2 boxes of the Island of Blood + codex

Also bought various paintbrushes, paint, random codexs ( fluff for the fluff god), random single non-metal models for fun like an eldar biker, moving trays, hobby tools, etc.

THAT ... is all I bought. But I live in a small house with my parents and my brother who bought:`

2.5k worth of Space wolves + codex

3k worth of points of an Empire army + codex

1k worth of Chaos Spacemarines + codex

He also bought some orc riders to make some Boar Cavalry for his space wolves

Diverse scenery kits

Lets just say that our house was, and still is, F-I-L-L-E-D with WH stuff in about 5 months of the greatest spending evar on hobby stuff.

I don't know exactly what I spent, but it was easily $1k - one order was a ROBB, a Chaos Battleforce, and a Defiler. I'd guesstimate $1500 or so.

Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

I spent in excess of $10,000.

I travel around the country to play in tournaments in a constant search for people to test my abilities against.

Here's an example.

Last May, I traveled from North Carolina to California for the Slaughter in Space GT.

Plane tickets for my wife and I: $1,000 apiece.
Hotel Stay: $129 x 3 nights.
Cost of shipping Battlefoam Case to California with $1,000 in insurance: $90
Cost of shipping Battlefoam Case back from California: $90
Cost of being extremely drunk throughout the entire GT: $50
Cost of taking wife to Medieval Times for dinner and a show: $100 (I don't remember if we paid for Hulksmash and his wife or not)
Cost of food while we were there: $200
Cost of GT entry fee: $50
Cost of leaving our car at the airport for 4 days: $80

In short, about $3,000 for one event.

And I went to a *lot* of events.

In terms of model costs, I didn't spend a whole lot on models. I acquired 3,000 points of Necrons, 4,000 points of Dark Eldar, a couple thousand points of Orks, and 6-8k points of Space Marines, but virtually all of it was "free" as in the cost of travel and tournament entries in exchange for winning stuff.

I did buy a few deffrollas in Atlanta. In Florida I bought a dreadnought; I was taking $300 worth of store credit out the door and felt bad for not actually *buying* anything so I added some cash. Spent $600 or so getting an army commission painted. But most of the costs are from travel.

On the flip side, I have no kids or pets, my wife and I are both employed and make very good money, we play video games for entertainment (and 40k) so we don't have a lot to spend our cash on.

No, I was drinking Captain Morgan (rum). A fifth of Captain Morgan is about $25. Two bottles is about $50.

Its not even 1:00 PM, half the bottle is gone and I've missed a call from my wife. Probably wondering if I'm winning, and if I'm drunk. =D

Glory to the Twelfth! Glory to Angron!

‎"Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls. The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does. That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."

I spent just a little over 1K last year, the biggest investments at any one time being $180 for a Forgeworld Eldar Scorpion Super heavy, and $175 for the Forgeworld Rev. Titan. Everything was in either bit parts or small lots of models to add to what i already have.

This year isn't shaping up to be any better, I've already dumped $100 into bit parts alone, $68 for the GW Orc Battlewagon, and today i dropped another $200 for apoc templates, the island of blood skavens, a shadowrun book, some castle terrain, and gale force 9 gray stuff.

Edit: so sorry, i forgot something, the above $200 was at the local game store alone, on Ebay today i also dropped $71 for a Forgeworld Nightspinner, another $11 for a Headless Horseman that a friend wants to convert for his Halloween themed Imp Guard, and another $10 for some more bit parts. So all told today i spent almost $300 with tax.
