Particularly one that is a statement about how one isn't "just part of a fad" or something.

Clearly, getting a symbol of one's devotion permanently inked onto oneself makes it impossible to not feel strongly about something in the future. It's why I'm so super-psyched to have this Marilyn Manson electroshock logo on my shoulder. I didn't get over that phase, ever.

Did you get the tattoos because they were a form of self expression or to prove something to other people?

Hmm...I would say the first few I got were more a combination of the two (as I said I was young)...but the rest were all about me and my love of tattoos.

I should state here....that what I've managed to do..( get covered in ink and still make a good living) is the exception and not the rule...so kids...my advice...think before you ink.

I've got my second tattoo idea already. I'll start by having a crowd of people on my back, and every time I hook up with a different person, they'll get added to the crowd. This plan can not fail.

Nah-just write a list and get them crossed out, or a big void stamp-its mighty popular

I'll take that dollar, thank you

Also, I hate how people go on about "oh but your gonna regret bla bla" Who gives a crap if I enjoy it now?

Secondly... It's for life... No, it's not. A few laser treatments, which cost you about the same as the tattoo itself and your good to go. And who knows how well they will be at removing the things in the future.

Last but not least. WHY do people judge others because of having a tattoo? Seriously, this annoys the crap out of me.

"oh you have a tattoo, you must be a bad person then" While the tattoo is a puppy or something.

I think that there are some tattoos that are instantly regrettable, those are usually the ones you get if you happen to be drunk or under the influence. If you are clear headed when getting a tattoo you should be fine, unless its a name.

If you're infatuated with someone you're not clear-headed so its best to wait a bit before names.

There are some tattoos that are acceptable for certain positions. Working at a 'family' retail store may require someone to not have visible tattoos. Someone with a sleeve may not be able to work at Disneyland unless they wear something over it.

Tattoos are also associated with the military from my perspective. Well, it depends on the tattoo I guess. My uncle and grandfather both have tattoos on their lower arms or shoulder. Then there's the kind of tattoos associated with prison, the face and hands.

Then there's the white guys who get the tribal armband and the sorority girls who get the chinese lettering. It all comes from personal experience I think.

That depends on if there's a spiritual revival cannerus. If we get one of those I don't see gay marriage, abortions, or many tattoos as coming. Legal weed already exists, they're called dandelions.

No one here, I'm just talking about the general oppinion from people on tattoos.

As for getting a tattoo while drunk. I believe it's illegal here for someone to put a tattoo on someone when he's under influence.

Any proper tattoo artist worth a damn won't ruin his reputation by tattooing a drunk person.

To the OP:

One big tip, do your research before you decide on where you got to get it. Just taking the convenient closes one, or the cheapest will often end in tears.

The guy I go to charges 125 euro's an hour, but damn, it's worth it
