I always thought "Hammerhead" would be a good name for a metal band not really good for any other genre imo. Then again I always liked it when metal bands use the word "head" in their name.

Yes! Blame the Victim!
We have a winner....
or..
"Greater Good"
"Tau Viper"
"Sisters of Tau"
"Eye of Armageddon"
"Skull Pass Boys"
...any combination of GW trademarked names but not a direct copy enough to incite an IP lawsuit would be great.

Yeah, I'm going with 'Blame The Victim'. It's a good solid name that rolls off the tongue:
"Hey, did you check out that band 'Blame The Victim' yet? They rock."
It works. I like it.
I also like using the names of european cities.
It's not a city, but 'Kosovo' is a place name I always liked the sound of for a band.
I would suggest not heeding the advice of people suggesting 'jokey' band names, unless of course you are not trying to make a career out of it and it's just a bit of fun. If you start to do well, you'll regret picking a daft name.
Automatically Appended Next Post: There's already a band called Blame The Victim, sadly. You could always try to take them on, as they don't look particularly big. There was a band called 'Dresden', but my band pretty much smoked them so we get to keep the name.

My Pet Peeves on band names:
- Two-word adjective-noun band names: There is a reason it's a cliche. At least try to smash it into one word or add something like "the" at the beginning.
- References to Ancient Greece: I don't know why, but if I see another "Sparta" or "The Fall of Troy", the nearest baby is getting punched.

It depends if you guys are gonna try and go somewhere with your band. There are brilliant names already on this thread but also some utter tosh! (you know who you are)
Meaning doesn't have to be exemplified in your band name but it helps in the long run if there is gravitas or at least referential content in the name.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”
