Because the Jokaero have been shoehorned into the Grey Knights codex, instead of the Tau or an Ordo Xenos themed book.

GW has made it pretty clear they are not planning on one and Tau use their own tech.....

We love what we love. Reason does not enter into it. In many ways, unwise love is the truest love. Anyone can love a thing because. That's as easy as putting a penny in your pocket. But to love something despite. To know the flaws and love them too. That is rare and pure and perfect.

For what it's worth, the Daemon Hunter and Witch Hunter codexes both refer to the Jokaero in their digital weapons entries. Not specifically by name, but the 'hint' is there.

Fair enough, but it's still kind of..... odd.

You can give a fluff explanation for the Jokaero in the GK's but it still fits very badly in the theme of the army imo. The only Imperial force where they belonged were Ordo Xenos or Rogue Traders.

Yeah, GW is doing very poorly in the Fluff department as of late, so nuts to that.

All I am saying is that, with how they are going lately, Marboro will single handedly stop a Tyranid Invasion in the next Imperial Guard Codex.

I also can't wait to see what the Chaos Codex gets. If each codex tries to make themselves sound like the roughest and toughest out there, how do you come back from having someones name carved into your chest?

I have to be careful with this topic, because otherwise I turn into a grognardy TFG really quickly.

The problem with modern GW fluff is that it's being written as advertising copy, not as a story. It's all fist-pumping "HELLS YAISE BRAH! HIGH FIVE!" now.

Not that the old fluff was any great shakes, mind you. It still had plenty of moments, but it felt like everything was part of a cohesive whole, like there was some sort of meta-narrative. (And before someone says it: it was advertising copy even then, it was just better-written advertising copy that, in telling a story, probably sold more and better. It sold the game rather than whatever ridiculous model was the new hotness this month, and it had respect for its own universe, ridiculous as that universe was.)

If it were up to me, GW would make models and manage the IP, outsource the writing to proper writers (I'm talking about FFG, not BL here.) I'd also like the Squats back. And a sparkly pink pony of my very own.

You know, the Grey Knights have a Wraithbone device for communicating with Eldrad Ulthan. Eldrad used it once to contact them as well. I think of it as the Wraithphone.

FYP.

GW even said in WD that the wealth of material they made for Inquisitor was the driving force behind the Daemonhunters Codex(and as such, the WH Codex) having so many choices and options for the Inquisition.

Aren't they a part of the Inquisitor's retinue, rather than a part of the GK army as a whole?

I think that's the thing people are missing here... The book is called 'Grey Knights' certainly... but it's not just Ordo Malleus any more.
