Try being the squad of Terminators standing on the other side of a 30 man blob FRFSRF lasguns at you, and then tell me they're useless.

Thanks mate, now I know what child gun to buy to make Lasgun . Cheers

Or you could use a G36 like mine (not converted by me I might add but my a talented friend of mine)

Ignore the small box in the magazine well, this one has been converted into a Lasertag rifle and that is a test box for the programming code.

The fal/para/g3 doesn't really look like a cadian lasgun. Next you're gonna say the bolter looks like an Mp5. The proportions are similar and they may be lightly based on them but no more than a space marine looks like/is based on a stormtrooper from starwars. Like all things GW they are an amalgm of all kinds of inspiration. + Since when did Mrdians/valhallans have ak47/Garands? Last time i checked they had the same goofy 2nd ed lasguns.

EDIT : I would have to say that on considering it Bowman was right to Pick the g36, does look the most similar (perhaps a little compact, but similar silohuette).

Mine was the G36C before it was converted. The full size G36 adds a few extra inches on and improves the look. I guess mine is strictly speaking a Las-Carbine.

ChrisWWII wrote:I always assumed that, just like how Cadians are 'generic sci-fi soldiers', their lasguns are 'generic sci-fi guns'. Though, I do see how it is based on the Cold War-era NATO assault rifles...in some sense, a lot of the classic sci fi weapons are very visually reminiscent of that eras weaponry.

Cadia has a bit of Space Israel in it imo, and the FAL was their primary assault rifle for 30 or so years so it would make sense for their lasguns to reflect this.

Lasgun can kill in first shot today's solder that is veering best armor. And do not listen that Guard player - he is a heretic.
Lasgun is good rifle but when you have the enemy who's armor just boun of almost everything you will have some problems. And everybody knows that Guard work in large numbers, obviously that Guard player didn't hear that...

The Emperor doesn't have a GKs unshakable faith in the Emperor which is....basically himself?

Fluff =/= rules. Fluffwise, a Lasgun is just as deadly as the average military rifle/carbine(which "still" exist in 40K as the Autogun, which has the same stats as a lasgun, surprise, surprise) used today. We're just skewed because GW has so many S4 guns as standard(thanks to so many MEq armies) in so many armies.
