$10 each for the cases -brand new- wal-mart. {drove all over town trying to avoid that place -couldn't find a cheaper deal even building from scratch} DAMN YOU WAL-MART and your strangle-hold on cheap foreign petroleum products!

That is a shame, just because you blokes don't have 'gun accessories' doesn't mean you couldn't use a nice padded-case. If Wal-mart got enough requests I'm sur they'd stock it in another section.
Otherwise here's the make & model:
--protector series plano model 1404--
you might be able to find it online -but then you gotta factor in shipping

Can anyone tell me what the requirements are for conversions in tournament games? Are the conversions i posted here 'legal'??
If it's an issue of % of material used {as I think it is} keep in mind the base for the autocannon turret is one whole piece from a Leaman Russ.
-please help-

Old Imperial guardsman may recognize this bit- I thought I'd never use it but as it turns out, if you cut the little plastic tabs from the sides, it fits the new Razorback/Whirlwind turret perfectly!

Ok, this is as far as I got before I cut the bajesus out of my thumb -hope it was worth it -let me know what you think.

Better attach this to a swivel-base before I add anymore.

The picture turned out fuzzy. This is just a small dowel with magnets on either end, holding the TL LC in place.

Thanks! I thought you'd like the flamethrower, it turned out pretty 'orkish' I think. I'll post another picture -now that the nuts & bolts have been glued on.

BTW- is this too many pics for a project blog? -I've been saving the finished pics for my 'Army-profile.'

Great restorations so far! I love he clean, crisp look of your marines so far. Excellent use of bits by the way, where do you get your plasticard from? My little town has no such thing as 'hobby shops'

Nice find with the figure cases, I shall have to check my local wal-mart to see if they stock them!

I have a local place I buy from when I don't have an order big enough to justify shipping -but otherwise:
http://www.evergreenscalemodels.com/
or in the UK
http://www.anticsonline.co.uk/2141_1.html

I got a few Serendipitous finds from the surplus-store and some plastic-rod -putting the restoration-cost total to $45- in order to build this:
[Thumb - wip-new 007.jpg]
-next to HB for size comparison-

[Thumb - wip-new 006.jpg]
Totally worth $5

In general I'm not a fan of Imperial Space Marines at all ( DEATH TO THE FALSE EMPEROR! ) but I am a HUGE fan of 2nd Ed armies and I really enjoyed seeing your older stuff. Reminds me of playing at my FLGS back in the mid-late 90's. A friend of mine from back then played Ultramarines and seeing yours made me remember things I had forgotten.

Really enjoy the conversions / customizations you are doing as well. This is great stuff, subbed, will be back for more.!

The original plan was to work my way through painting squads, one week at time, saving the HQ for last and taking breaks from painting to work on conversions. However, my FLGS had a character free-for-all/painting competition that bumped Marneus A. Calgar up to 'TOP-PRIORITY'

BTW- Marneus took 1st place in the painting category -and a young Eldar-commander took 'best-performing' w/his Avatar -though, I gave him a run for his money in CC!
It was much better to see the look on his face -after he beat me in a 'Mortal-Combat' style Fight on top of a piece of tower-terrain- than to win both categories.

bigfish wrote:your pictures are kinda messed up. not the model liturally the pics

Yeah -I only have one more picture of Marneus, the rest, I accidentally deleted. -I'll try to take some pristine shots when I do my 'Army-Profile'- for now it seems like too much for one model.

Thanks for the post...I play ultramarines and (until seeing your post) had a much more difficult (and less clean looking) method of creating the inverted Omega for the Ultramarines Logo on things.

Your method is very simple and looks great - will certainly use it in the future.

Cheers.

Yay! The original Marneus Calgar! Looking forward to seeing more pics of him. I always loved that model, even when it was force-feeding a Power Fist to my Bad Moon Nobz.

Ahh, 2nd Ed. I miss it.

This is not quite done but its coming along nicely -I still need to ad nuts, bolts, purity-seals, ect.

I also changed the design to include another servo -for more Dakka-power!

The switch is located under the turret- when turned anti-clockwise the switch caches a small bit on the tank and the barrels whirl!

As I've mentioned before, I don't have a lot of money to spend on this army-restoration [I believe I'm still at $45] so I wanted to find a cheap way to make some molds.
I used this epoxy and made a few purity-seals already, now I want to try something a little more complicated.
[Thumb - wip-new 012.jpg]
Very first epoxy-cast

[Thumb - wip-new 017.jpg]
pretty standard epoxy -not sure what its called -but very pleased it drys plastic-gray.

[Thumb - wip-new 013.jpg]

[Thumb - wip-new 015.jpg]
trying a scratch-built mold

[Thumb - wip-new 018.jpg]
Very-few turned out -but I think I learned a better technique in the process.
