it works on all shooting attacks that focus on the vehicle as far as I'm concerned. If it shoots AT the vehicle, it gets -6"... including ranged psychic attacks, by BRB definition its a shooting attack.

No, it is a 4D6" range line. same as a template is range "template", and everything under the template is affected.

But that's not the range. If anything its range is "Line".

The 4d6" determines how long the line is, and then everything under the line is affected. Not because it is within a particular range, but because it is under the line.

Not everything.

From the Blood Angels Codex under The Blood Lance;

"Friendly units, and enemy units locked in close combat, are unaffected - the lance darts over them before continuing on its course."

So there is already precedence for the Lance not affecting everything on the line.

I have found again and again that in encounter actions, the day goes to the side that is the first to plaster its opponent with fire. The man who lies low and awaits developments usually comes off second best. - Erwin Rommel

so if you roll 4" and put out a line that stretches the table, you are hitting something 72" away??? Come on now, you are not even making sense in this argument.

I'm not making sense because you've presented a situation that doesn't even follow the text of the power?

Blood Lance affects everything [other than friendly units and enemies in combat, sorry TW] under the line.

Determine how long the line is.

Is the vehicle under the line? Then it is hit.

You don't measure each unit individually to see if they are hit, so at what point can you determine that the Night Shields vehicle is not "within range"? The only measurement you are called to make is to measure the length of a line. If you (also) measure 6" shorter then you are cheating.

Your right, in Bloodlance you are only required to make one measurement, and everything under the line is hit by it. However, its not Blood Lance that effects the range reduction, its Night Shields. NS states that any weapon fired has its range reduced by 6", so it would shorten the blood lance's range for anything in tis path with Night shields by 6". Now, if the night shields venom is in front of a Warrior squad, and the Night shields would shorten its range enough to not hit the venom, it would still hit the Warriors behind it, if it had range in its total range, because Night Shields doesn't protect the warriors, just the Venom. Thats not cheating, thats call following all the rules, not just the ones advantageous to you.
