But that's all he's running on. It's his entire raison d'etre and the repeating context of every interview.
He has no other policies or ideas.
I really hope he's the front runner for the republicans. He should sign on that Bachmann witch as his number two...

To be honest I think his history as a Democrat will kill his candidacy in the event he actually starts campaigning in the primaries and his opponents start targeting him. As it is I think he's just a guy with name recognition about whom most people don't really know very much outside the branding he has done.

He's only a story now becuase no real candidates have been picked; once the real elections get under way this story will fall to the wayside. It is a distraction for political reporters to have fun with.

The only good thing that could occur if Bachmann was someone's running mate is that she'd finally be gone from Minnesota, and we wouldn't have to deal with her craziness being "local news".

If you don't want him to be President, you really shouldn't hope that he's the front runner. Given the current trend in American politics, as long as the Republican candidate has a pulse, he's going to defeat the current resident.

Thats the kind of insane and irrational optimism that defeated clinton, preventing his second term! Good old reps, blustery and loud up until the bitter end.

I want another badass, donkey-cave president.
We had Clinton who acted like a pimp his whole presidency.
Russia had Putin who was basically Commander Shepard from Mass Effect in real life.

I remember people saying similar things about George W Bush.
He's a terrible candidate, but elections are weird and scary things. I think we really need to be hoping for the Republicans to put a sensible, principalled and capable candidate, so that whoever wins you get a good president. Unfortunately I have no idea who that Republican would be. Crist?

Yes, the Republicans are very confident of beating Obama, which explains why there's so many front line Republican candidates falling over themselves to take on Obama. It's exactly why political heavyweights like Trump have come to the fore.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Trump/Palin, then we could have the White house reality show. Talk about governmental transparency! It's just sad enough to work.

Based on Obama's approval numbers (basically everyone but Rassmussen place him around 50%, even Fox quite often), the history of incumbent advantage (especially pronounced in recent years), and present economic trends that's highly unlikely to be true.
In general, to fail to be re-elected the incumbent needs to see numbers below 35% near election day. Of course, because incumbents generally win, there aren't really a lot of cases to establish that as a general truth.
