Why would they need to turn? Also, how often do your IG opponents leave enough room behind their heavy tanks to safely DS?
Turn to present superior armour. They have to choose between a lot of medium str AT shots or few high str AT power shots.

Really? I find my LRBTs invaluable against Orks and Nids. A large blast and 9 heavy bolter shots tends to mess up a good deal of Boyz.

Yeah not trying to be rude they just dont seem to be able to really have an impact in the games I play other then using the range to smack my lootas (who are fileded in 5 man squads and so are noramlly spread out) That being said I run a mech ork list to get around having to move so many models and as a plus it keep my boyz safe from you trread head IG players =)

I think they are pretty cool tanks. I have no problems with them. I love the look of a full tank army of guard, even if it is across the table from me.
Just an FYI, the best terminator transport in the game (to one of the other posters) is actually the Caestus Assault Ram as it can carry 10 terminators and they can assault from it. It's nasty......
Cheers.
P.S. Caestus is Forge World, Imperial Armour 10

Well if he's using them to shoot small units of lootas who I'm assuming are in cover, he's using em wrong! Against a horde Ork list they're invaluable. Mech Orks will mitigate that somewhat, but that's what autocannons are for

2 Things 1. A yellow fruit is very powerfully sourer ( Its Leman Russ not lemon russ) 2. Well no its not to powerfull as your enemy should have anti tank options in his army and that is the whole point of the IG that they have good tanks but all are infanry could easily get massacred so we make up for bad infantry by having good tanks i field 5 leman russ most games and i use them to pound my enemys core infantry or my LRV will target the tanks so your answer is NO!

don't use non-codex models as a competition to the Landraider.
not everyone has access to, or is able to use the Assault Ram in their games. either because they can't afford such a pricy toy OR their local gamers won't let them use it.

Cheexsta wrote:1. A lot of things can insta-death a Space Marine captain. You're doing something very wrong if you have to allocate a battle cannon wound to him, though.
2. A lot of things can wipe out a tactical squad in a single shot without armour saves. Again, you're doing something wrong if your opponent is able to cover an entire tactical squad with a single template.
3. All ordnance weapons can move and fire, that's not what Lumbering Behemoth does.
4. It's 40pts for a pair of plasma cannon sponsons, but who's counting?
5. Squadrons are commonly seen as a weaker choice to taking individual vehicles. You're forced to target the same enemy unit with all of the unit's fire, and your opponent gets a 25% higher chance of destroying them.
This.
Russes put out very poor firepower for their points, and they only do lots of damage to idiots a vast majority of the time.
The only advantage that a russ gets is front armor AV14, for which it pays a 20% premium over the basilisk, while also having a much worse gun (-1S, no IF). But don't let this confuse you into thinking that it's invincible, or anything, as anything melta or anything close combat will explode them just as fast as a rhino.
Really, there is a narrow set of circumstances to take russes in. Otherwise, they just cost too much for what they do to competent opponents.
If you want to complain about guard vehicles that do damage, why not start with a deathstrike or a manticore, rather than a russ?

Is this thread a joke? Russes are FAR from overpowered. Most people take them because they love big, bad ass tanks. it's certainly the reason I take them. I have an aversion to using Manticores and the other artillery tanks because I'm such a treadhead that I simply HAVE to field the Russes and Hydras. Russes aren't even good by themselves, they work best as a support unit. Busting open transports and shooting the juicy contents inside right after is a LOT of fun.
