Eldar were my first "army" in RT, back in early 1988.
My first 40k miniatures were SM.

I've still got that army buried in amongst the rest of it that I've acquired since. I still play Eldar.

I also play GK (10 or so years), SM (22 or so years) and IG (15 years).
I only play the armies I like (I don't like enough of the models in any of the other armies to bother with them).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

Orks, at 10 Orks were the best because of the amount of blood you could cover them in...

I also started with the 2nd ed starter, so Orks and Space Marines... although I never used the cardboard Dread.

Bulked out the collection with a couple of Space Crusade sets back when Milsims was clearing out their leftovers for AU$15 a pop, so my third army was Chaos Marines.

Technically I started with with Eldar as these were the first 40k models I bought. I think they were the old style DA and an Eldrad, which I still have although it's been stripped down and repainted numerous times.

But then I realized how hard they were to get right and I ended up playing the then FotM Black Templars. Took me a couple of years until I returned to my pointy eared ways.

You've just got to love the Space Elves

Welcome to the internet, and specifically a gaming forum.

If your choice of game is not made in a blood oath that can only be broken by a quest and vow made with the most overwrought dramatics, then you aren't doing it right. -curran12

Eldar for me, back in 3rd edition.

I was fresh from Mage Knight, and didn't know about the whole faction/Codex thing, where you're restricted in which models you can put in your force depending on which codex you use. I didn't even know about Codices. I was looking through the racks of slide-cover pale-blue-trimmed boxes, and Dire Avengers jumped out at me. Literally. They just about bowled me over in fact, since I was a puny, scrawny thing at the time. Those metal heads... way too heavy. Like a damned cannonball.

My next army was Imperial Guard, followed by Space Marines, each after a year or two from the previous one. After that I went a bit crazy, then went a bit nuts with starting new armies, and now have a decent to good selection of models from seven different codex factions - interestingly, with a total lack of variant Marines... apart from an Ezekiel mini from when I was playing Dark Angels.
