Alright, I concede that I wasn't tactful and I'd like to apologize for that.

Now, as to critical advice, I've got a few suggestions.

1.) You said you aren't a great painter, but I don't believe it. Looking at how much time and effort you put in to these, I think you have a great painter hiding inside of you, but I think you need to learn a bit more about HOW to paint.
So, either pick up "How to paint Citadel Tanks" or one of the equivalent painting guide books, or check out one of the multitudes of free on line painting guides, such as...
http://www.miniwargaming.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=9829
Learn a little color/painting theory. Yes, I know Orks aren't looking for a human aesthetic, but us humans ARE looking for them. And since your target audience is human, it would behoove you to come of with some attractive schemes, even when trying to
go for the wild abandon of Orkish grafitti and mishmash paint styles. There are tonnes of ideas and information in the previously mentioned books, online tutorials.
And lastly, regarding general painting advice, buy or make some washes and wash your minis to bring out some depth and detail.

2.) Layoff the blood spatter effect. It's not convincing in it's current incarnation. If you want to dirty up your models, there are several other ways to do it.
Creating an effective blood spatter is hard. Practice it some where else and perfect it before you start applying it to your models.

3.) Lay off the graffiti until you have practiced enough to make it look like actual graffiti. Right now it just doesn't convey any feeling of scale or intention.

Hope this helps, and hope it feels less like an attack. It certainly wasn't my intention to make you feel bad.

honestly i was'nt expecting you to comment back but i am so glad you did, thank you.
and alright i will look into getting a copy of the GW how to paint tanks and yea seeing what your saying about the graffiti and the blood. i just looked at the other link you left and yea it looks pretty good for everything as well. and the next time i post something on here it will be after looking at technique and aesthetic.
honestly thanks for the advice/ support.
and as a last note i am repainting the looted tank among other things in this thread:
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/90/361076.page
could you just tell me what you think of the tank so far, at the moment i am sort of undecided on the design still and am not sure if the graffiti is toned down enough or if i should just scrap the graffiti alltogether and come back to doing it at a later stage when i have practiced it.
thanks again

The lines look a ton cleaner which is a huge plus.
I noticed that you spent more time to make the colors separate and stand out on the blue and white jagged lines and I think they look a ton better now.

Removing a lot of the extra graffiti has helped to guide the viewers eye over the lines of the model as well.
Over all an excellent improvement and I think it is certainly on the right track.

Next thing to do is learn how to apply washes to add depth and then on your next looted model, I suggest learning how to craft slagged armor plating to add, and how to make and apply rivets.

Here is an excellent resource my a master Ork Mek, Sukigod, that should give you some examples on how to plate up your wagons and what not.

http://www.coolminiornot.com/forums/showthread.php?34990

and also his tutorial on how to make good looking slagged plate.

..... i looked all the way through sukigods stuff, i swore at multiple points. wow just wow.
with the tank, i was going to do a badab black wash over the plates and then highlight with chainmail or boltgun.
The links are both great
really really inspired to do an kustom battle fortress now i have seen suki's stuff.
oh and i got a copy of the how to paint citadel tanks and it has a really good way of painting a good deathskullz blue so thats how i will paint my next meky thing. all of the links and advise you have given have all been great.

I like it, but I think it's a little too much mud. Other than that, looks great.

Im not a fan of the overall theme. Alot of it looks rushed and slathered on, looks like a toy.
