how would you surgest improving it. they are death skulls so the blue is a must and has to stay. but im ok with everything else

I think the blue is fine, as you say they are deathskullz.
But just for my personal taste I dont really like the "graffitti" look on the boomwagon, I think its a little over the top albeit very Orky
On the converted jetbikes/skimmers I think you should tone down the yellow/red effects, if you could invert the colors I think it would work better i.e paint all the yellow blue and vice versa (perhaps even get rid of the yellow completely). I'd drop the red paint scheme altogether, I dont think it fits too well.

But of course thats just my personal opinion. Good work on the overall conversions!

TBH i totally agree. i just looked at my looted wagon and yea the graffiti is'nt looking too great. i think the graffiti can stay it just needs a touch up and some bits need redoing. at the moment its just a bit too messy.

but with the deffkopters, they are surposed to be bad moon freebooters who have joined my warband. but because the rest of my army is kinda deff dread inclined i did'nt want them to have the same scheme. but hmmm its not like they could'nt be bad moons who had there kopters stolen. and with the red evil sunz one it does look out of place a little bit.

anyway im going to add those 2 units to my "possibly redoing" list which currently contains

32 boyz
a dref dread
a truck
and a stompa

Id recomend trying some transfers for the graffitt. I have found in the past that the cleaner look makes all the diffrence.

I think the red may look a little out of place because it is not a complimentry colour on the colour wheel. It might be worth looking at a colour wheel and thinking about complimentry but diffrent colours for the freebooters.

http://www.color-wheel-pro.com/color-theory-basics.html

I like the scratch building work though, lots of looting and lots of dakka. What every Ork warlord realy needs. As an ork player myself I am tempted to ask if there is enough dakka, but only because the answer is always no (Only joking, they look very killy)

what do you mean by "tranfers for the graffiti"?

and i am seriously considering going over them in a deathskulls sorta theme now, anyway.

Over all, very respectable conversions. Original, interesting, Orky, and pretty dynamic.
The paint is pretty bad IMO.
I'm not crazy about how flat all the paint looks, nor do the colors really jive in any particular fashion. The graffiti all looks incredibly juvenile.
Lastly, the randomness and chaos of the paint schemes don't really look random/chaotic like an Ork might do, but more lazy/mentally challenged. And no, Orks aren't stupid, lazy, or mentally challenged. They are cunning and industrious, if not base and aggressive.
I think that army would look amazing with some thought and effort put in to painting them well.
As a side, I'm not attacking the OP, I'm just making some fairly critical observations regarding the disparity between the modeling and painting.

1)"I'm not crazy about how flat all the paint looks"
fair enough, its a good point, and its true.

2)"nor do the colors really jive in any particular fashion."
also a fair point, they dont particually "jive"

3)"The graffiti all looks incredibly juvenile."
ok its still a valid point but starting to add favours of rudeness

4) "Lastly, the randomness and chaos of the paint schemes don't really look random/chaotic like an Ork might do, but more lazy/mentally challenged. And no, Orks aren't stupid, lazy, or mentally challenged. They are cunning and industrious, if not base and aggressive."
right so here is where i started to think that you were just trying to be a . "....chaos of the paint schemes don't really look random/chaotic like an Ork might do, but more lazy/mentally challenged. And no, Orks aren't stupid, lazy, or mentally challenged." when writing that were you actually trying to give some creative critism or were you just looking to give critism. because to be honest, it seemed like the later. and that is really of no use to me what so ever.
maybe if you had added some ways that it could have been improved or links to techniques that could help, it would have been a lot less rude and alot more helpful.

5)I think that army would look amazing with some thought and effort put in to painting them well.
the last point here did'nt really feel very sincere after the point above.

but to be honest, im not a very good painter, i dont have all the paints, i dont know all of the techniques. which is really the reason i joined daka in the first place. so that i could get advise, learn things and know what to get and how to use it.

so i would appreciate it if you could give techniques or things to look into that could improve my painting. unless of course you only have the time to critise, then don't worry.

thanks for your input.

honestly i am thinking about repainting it. i was going to redo it so that it still had the splattered blood over it but just so it was'nt black underneath and had more of a deathskulls vibe to it.
