It usually takes longer to ship to the Netherlands then it takes to Down Under. My order is underway for almost three weeks now.

So I don't need to pay the postage on the squadron of Stormravens and Land Speeders I was thinking of buying.
Sweet.
Yep. Solid gold.
I think pref will go like this.
Bits : Combat Company
>$100 order : Combat Company
Everything else : Wayland Games
website is http://www.thecombatcompany.com.au/
While CC may be a couple of bucks more expensive than WG, i at least know it's going to arrive within 3 days no hassles...

Hi Guys,
Rich from Wayland here.
Just wanted to say thanks for the nice comments. I will pass them on the the Warehouse guys now as they are pulling another long shift.
And just to be frank here, this time of year is a pain for mail order companies in the UK, the 2 Bank holidays for Easter and May day (and throw in a Royal wedding for luck) always mean delivieres in and out are always a bit hit and miss. We should be back up to normal speed by the end of this week though.
Thanks again.

A big +1 for the status of UK ordering Rich. Fantastic for us overseas to be kept in the loop with what's happening abroad with holidays/weather/timeframes. I know where i'll be shopping next... kudos to you.

And pay twice the price.
Maelstrom just finished having a sale. Those are always their busiest times.

Funny the way it goes. I've never had any trouble with Maelstrom or communicating with them. Now Wayland was another story.
I guess everyone's had their good and bad with any company online.

I bought my things l before they had a sale period and I know they hadn't had one recently
Mind explaining why I got such poor responses then?
Because quite frankly it was appalling, especially compared to other services I've used, half of them as busy Maelstrom is and yet found the time to give me a quick reply
I honestly think as long as you keep your customers in the loop of whats going, your guranteed future purchases
Besides that, some people might see that as a price to pay to get things quicker

Haha, yeah, delays and order splitting are annoying. I placed two orders about 3 weeks ago, and they're been split into 7 pieces. Two of those only have one item in them. The only GW things are hobby supplies. They split the orders even though I asked them not to, so it must be part of their policy or something.
One order has arrived (the one with no figs) and after 3 weeks, two of the other orders have advanced to the 'packing' stage.
I don't mind waiting, since I'm saving a tonne on figs and postage, but what annoys me is that I haven't received responses to my emails asking for an explanation of the delay.
I'll still be using Maelstrom, since free postage is the real deal maker for me, and I can only guess that the reason they haven't responded is perhaps that even they don't know when they'll get more stock in.

I've just literally had a good email experience with Maelstrom (there was a part missing/wrong in an item I ordered from them). I got quick, helpful replies from them and even though I got the part sent out to me direct from the manufacturer they were still happy for me to return the product (with a refund for the postage) and then send me out a new kit.
I think standard "when is my item arriving/being sent out" queries might be lower down on their list of priorities unless it is significantly overdue.

I got two E-mails from Maelstrom, the first thanking me for the nice letter I wrote them (in which I thanked them for supporting the GW Hobby abroad - God knows GW doesn't...) and the other informing me of the status of my order.

I got my final 40k order from Maelstrom yesterday.
I'll put the delay down to them being snowed under with orders from like minded compatriots.
I've never had an issue with how they pack stuff or ship it (unlike FW with their 'loose bags rattling around in a box' shipping method).

That's the thing though, I didn't ask them 'when is my stuff getting here' as I imaging that gets quite tedious after a while. I simply asked why my order is split into 7 little pieces, and why I'm getting a 3 week delay when my orders were placed before sale time.
I'm a happy Maelstrom customer, and I'm always polite to them in my correspondence. I've even gotten them several new customers. I feel a little miffed actually. I expect a little better customer service, especially when I've just dropped quite a lot of cash on a large order.
