For effectiveness though I would be tempted to kit the PCS out with flamers to deter any nasty closing hordes.
Two of those Platoons, a CCS and 3 Vanquishers leave me with 100 odd spare points at 1.5K....will post up a full armylist soon but I seems like I have room to kit out stuff.
@Llamahead; Yeah I'll probably see what I can easily get hold of, I know they had some stuff on their website.
Either why I am liking the name 13th Field Regiment Royal Morridane Artillery.

Looking at the Lascannon portee idea, seem to have a choice.
Can either go with this which'll add up to £100 per 'battery'.
http://direct.hobbycraft.co.uk/products-Italeri-1:35-Scale-Bedford-QL-Truck-with-AT-Gun-Model-Kit_316163.htm
Or get this (slightly different version) from Westwind and get some Lascannons (ideally the old metal ones).

Right, going with a Siege Regiment list under the 13th Battalion Royal Morridane Rifles name that is loosely based on the Rats of Tobruk.
Still kicking about a few ideas;
*May mount Lascannon and crew on different bases, depending on the game and really more for fluff I have the option to mount 'em portee style on trucks.
*Need something for a Plasma Gun, either use the PIAT from the SOTR Brits or try and convert something.
*Models to use for the Grenadiers; either some 'Commando' style ones or the British Steel suits of the SOTR Brits. Automatically Appended Next Post: Discovered that the SOTR British Commando Carbines combined with a bit of wire from an old set of earphones makes for a decent hellgun/hot-las armed Grenadier.
Going to find a suitable power pack to use, though I'm open to ideas here.
Other than that I'm currently rebasing and head swapping the models I currently have.

Nothing much to report on the model front, though still trying to get my hands on a camera.
Though in other news; the Royal Gibraltar Regiment seems pretty close to what I'm trying to do, infantry battalion with an artillery troop and tunnel fighters!

Sticking with the Death Korps based list for an army based on the Royal Gibraltar Regiment.
I can get a complete battery of 3 25 pounders with crew and Morris Quad artillery tractors for £100 from Warlord.

Recently seen the film Priest, really liked the animated section with WW1 British style soldiers complete with Brodie Helmets fighting the vamps amidst bard wire and mud.
The Ghoul Stars where the regiment's homeworld is on the fringes of its supposedly home to some vampric bat-like humanoid Xenos.....

Just a heads up for anyone who follows/stumbles upon this, I am unlikely to update or continue with this project.
I've come increasingly disinterested in 40K and unhappy with GW's business practices, in short I do not see it as a 'fun' game no more.
Instead I'll be focusing on Warmachine again now that is a growing playerbase now and I'm more likely to get a game in compared to the last time I dabbled with it.
Models I got for this IG army I'll end up using for Scerets of the Third Reich.
Thanks for reading.

Been looking at the Royal Ulster Rifles recently and I've come to the conclusion that they would probably be interesting enough to base a IG army on 'em.
*In North-West Europe The Royal Ulster Rifles had the unique distinction of being the only regiment in the British Army to have its two regular battalions included in the invasion of Normandy - Operation Overlord - on 6 June 1944. One battalion landed from the sea while the other was airborne. Both battalions fought through the subsequent campaign until the end of the war in Europe.
*When war was declared the 1st Battalion was serving in India, with the 31st Infantry Brigade, which was trained in mountain warfare. After converting to a glider-borne unit it took part in the D-Day landings and the airborne landings over the Rhine in 1945.
*It later formed a pipe band, wearing saffron kilts and carrying the Great Irish Warpipes.
*During Korea it fought at the Battle of the Imjin River with the 29th Infantry Brigade against the 64th Chinese Communist Army, managing to hold out for three days despite being outnumbered at least by 7-1.
*It also had a large number of Irish nationals in its ranks.

Still very much stuck at the planning stage for the time being....least until I actually have some funds.
Been looking at the ANZACs in Vietnam and came across this;
http://www.eleven-bravo.co.uk/the-war/organisation/anzac-org.php
Just looking at the Platoon organization I realize it could easily be done as part of a normal Codex army, thinking Penal Legion as SAS style patrol teams, Veterans with Demolitions & flamers as sappers along with Valks/Vendettas for 'Nam air cav.

Sounds interesting. You'd need to modify up some rhinos perhaps as M113s. I note some of them had turrets so it would fit nicely as a chimera.

Thinking over Platoon organization and got the following (subject to change);
PCS, Heavy Bolter
Heavy Weapons Team, Mortars (but can be changed out if needed)
3x Infantry Squads, Autocannon, Grenade Launcher
Going with at least two platoons, though one will be on foot whilst the other will be in Chimeras.
For my Veterans (aka 'Sappers') as well as going with Demolitions I'm trying to decide whether I should max out on flamers, meltas or plasmas? Automatically Appended Next Post: Models wise I'll be sticking with the Westwind Brits, but with slouch hat heads from Gripping Beast to give something like the chaps below but with body armour.

For effectiveness, meltas would probably be your best bet. For jungle-based awesomeness though, it would have to be 2 flamers and a heavy flamer

Sadly still in the planning stage, that said I could follow what others have been doing and produce a bit of fluff.
I like the idea of an ongoing conflict of a sort raging away on the Morridane homeworld of Morrdh, people have suggested zombies but I feel thats tad overused.
That said, you don't see many Werewolf Apocalypses now do you?

OK, bit of fluff.
~ ~ ~
The Patrol
The forest was silent, almost as silent as a tomb, as the section threaded carefully through the dried leaves from the fading autumn. A chill was in the air and a low mist clung tightly to the ground, leaving rocky outcrops and trees like towering islands in a sea of cloud. They were on a recce patrol, conducting a sweep through the area for the spooks back in Intelligence to see whether or not there were any Wyldkin present. Patrols like this one were routine, mainly to stop the soldiers from getting bored and to keep tabs on the savage beasts that plagued Morrdh. However they were under orders to avoid contact as much as possible hence the need to travel light and slip like ghosts through the mist and trees, though skirmishes were sometimes unavoidable....worse was the odd patrol that simply vanished.
Like Patrol Five-Two.
It had been the previous patrol to recce the area some weeks earlier, though they were long overdue and not answering their vox calls. So Patrol Four-Nine had been given the recce job instead with orders to find the missing patrol, or at least their dogtags. Every Morridane knew that this was simply a fact of life on their beloved homeworld, even so the soldiers griped their rifles tightly as they heard howls in the distance...

Seeking feedback on a modelling idea;
*Thinking with going with slouch hats for the rank and file, possibly pinned ones to denote sergeants, officers will have berets.
*Veterans/sappers will have the brodie helmets, looking at mixing *these guys* with converted Westwind models to give a 'Royal Engineers' look to 'em.
*Penal Legion I'll be doing as a SAS/Commandos style squad possibly called the 'Special Duties Section' ( SDS) and use the Westwind SOTR British Paras with gasmask beret heads.

Got a revised an updated blurb regarding Morrdh, theres a chance that it'll feature in the Rogue Trader game I'm currently playing.
~ ~ ~
Morrdh is a remote fortress and misty swamp world on the frontier of Imperial space, though the once extensive cities and fortifications have slowly sunken into the mire over the centuries giving the planet a feeling of despair. Due to Morrdh's relative low population base and its status as a garrison world, only battalion sized units get tithed once a generation for service in the Imperial Guard. The planetary governor is a monarch (currently Queen Lothwyn XIV) who rules from the capital of Morrdun, the seat of Imperial rule on Morrdh and the site of its sole spaceport.
Settled long before Imperial times, believed to have been a number of worlds colonised by an ancient Terran empire known to antiquity as the Commonwealth. Some customs and traditions of this 'empire' has managed to endure through the ages, helping to give the Morridane people some unique characteristics.
Given its remote location, the planetary topography and scattered ruins it has a great many places to hide. As such smuggling is a problem, a proportion of the population is suspected to be involved and Rogue Traders have been rumoured to have met in the Morridane wilderness to conduct business over items that would be frowned upon at best in Imperial space. The Morrdh PDF conducts regular patrols of the wilderness, but more often than not run into problems with the native predators in the form of the lycan like 'Fen Hound' and the 'Swamp Cat'.

Revised entry for Morrdh as it'll probably appear in the Rogue Trader game.
~ ~ ~
Morrdh
Morrdh is a frontier world in the Koronus Expanse and was discovered by Sebastian Winterscale very early in his career. A lost world of man, it was covered in extensive ruins and great Cyclopean cities long buried beneath millennia of dark forest and dank swamplands. The native population were examined and found wholesome despite their long separation from the light of the Emperor, but for reasons unknown colonists were brought from the Greater Imperium to resettle Morrdh. Natives who were slow to abandon their old beliefs and practices were pushed to the fringes, and even today those with Native blood are viewed with some suspicion.
The tantalising prospect of Archeotech brought representatives of the Adeptus Mechanicus to Morrdh, while the prospect of conversion brought representatives of the Ecclesiarchy. Colonists sought to rule themselves alone, while Winterscale wished to exploit the mysterious bounties of the world for himself and his burgeoning dynasty. Fractious squabbling between these factions brought down the wrath of the Inquisition, who brokered a settlement - Morrdh and its people would be led by a council representing each faction, a council headed by a leader chosen from the ranks of the new settlers.
Queen Lothwyn XIV is the current monarch of Morrdh and planetary governor, ruling from the capital city of Morrdun. Beneath her, a Magos Explorator, an Ecclesiarchical official and a memeber of the Winterscale sit as advisers. Each has their own agenda, and each not-so secretly longs to rule alone. Were it not for the obsidian tower of the Inquisitorial manse casting long shadows over the capital it is very likely that one would have made their move by now. For now, they are content to plot and intrigue and to quietly indulge in smuggling ancient artefacts offworld.
Recently, Queen Lothwyn has pushed for her world to become a Garrison world. Her reasons for doing so are unclear, as it would entail far higher tithes and far more Imperial oversight. Some suspect that she hopes to force a confrontation between the other factions, a confrontation she clearly believes will end successfully for her. Others believe that she knows of some dark threat looming on the horizon. Those allied to Rogue Traders fear that it is the first step towards Imperial annexation of what they see as their rightful domain.
Despite the intrigue ridden politics, Morrdh is one of the major sources of promethium in the Expanse and its lumber is valued by Imperial nobles in the Calixis Sector and beyond as are the relics found in the mire-bound ruins that dot the planet's surface....

Figured it was time for an update.
The Good News: I've actually got a job and once I'm sorted money wise I can actually begin to move forwards with this project.
The Bad News: Need money sorted out first to build up some funds and the hours of my new job will kinda be all over the place.
And The Ugly News: Still need to settle on a theme, that said I've been playing Fallout New Vegas lately and figured the NCR Army is good enough to base a low-tech IG army on.
Hell the troopers are close to the models I intend to use.
http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20101031200036/fallout/images/f/fd/FNV_Trooper_Outfits_NCR.png Automatically Appended Next Post: Looks like I'll go with the earlier Vietnam ANZACs idea I had, light infantry and a bit of air support would suit the Morridanes perfectly.
Certainly doable under the normal IG Codex, though the forthcoming new edition and more than likely new Codex kinda throws a spanner in the works.
