Not sure how much interest that would get, is there a big interest in SG-1?
Although there is also supposed to be a Star Trek starships miniatures game coming out - and I'm not referring to the existing starship miniatures that compliment Starfleet Battles - I think it's going to be by WizKidz, I hope it's not a clix game.
As for Star Wars minis it is a great game and I still play it more than I do 40K. The quality for pre-painted minis is good - sure there are some bad ones (Sand Trooper) but also some great ones (most Boba Fett minis). The gameplay is be fun but I don't think it works well for high point games as the Command effects become abusive.
I don't know about now, but when Stargate SG-1 was on tv it was very popular. It was actually the longest continually running sci-fi show. (Star Trek and Doctor Who both had large gaps between seasons and producers)
I would say that a game produced at the times the show ran would have been very popular, now I'm not sure...

There ARE miniatures for it, and there was a game in the works for it, but things change. I think it's a bit late now for the game, really. Unless they get revived.
There was, at one time, supposed to be a 3rd person SG-1 computer game (not the MMO) - it got canned, but footage found its way into an episode (producers asked the programmers if they could use it and got permission).
Some of the code got altered for the MMO version of the proposed game.

I remember that claim by SG-1, but I think it was made before the Doctor Who revival and was longest continually running sci-fi show still being made. Doctor Who still ran for 26 years without a break from 1963-1989. And I'm pretty sure there are some Japanese sci-fi series that ran longer than that.
Personally I'm only a casual SG-1 viewer but I know a mate I mine would be over the moon if there were some SG-1 minis.

It's a Clixgame, did you really expect differently?
And before you say it, I know that's not technically the Star Fleet Captains set, but there's hints that the ships in the set are compatible, plus the card layout for the ship stats for Captains clearly resembles the Halo Clix setup.

Ug, it's based on the reboot with the chubby Enterprise...
I'd be all over a space combat game for either universe though. Starfleet Battles never did it for me (they had their heads rammed FAR too much up their own butts thinking this was a serious naval combat game) and Star Wars Starship Battles was too simplistic for much replay value (but fun for beer and pretzels).

Anyone try out the virtual sets that people have been making? I'm too lazy to break out my stash of minis. I'm just wondering if those sets are balanced or if its a lot of wishful thinking type stuff where things are overpowered and/or undercosted.
There's mention of the virtual sets here: bloomilk.com

On April 1 of last year, Battlefront posted ten items on their website and stated half were true and half were false. A Star Wars minis game was one of the items listed.
To the best of my knowledge, only about half of the items on the list have been confirmed one way or the other (the most recent was the Lost Ark miniature that's being used as a giveaway at one of the cons). So in theory the Star Wars statement could be true - except that another company (Mongoose, iirc) stated that it was someone not known for their miniatures.

Did you try Federation Commander? Much faster, although they seem to be building all the SFB crap back into the original streamlined game.
Also, Chub Enterprise must die.

I don't like them. They're trying to be clever with complicated over-powered abilities. My mate loves them though so we play half our games normal, half with the v-sets - although I have no intention of using the v-set characters myself.

I heard about it but never played, again SW minis is about the level of complexity I'm looking for. If you can't teach a civilian to play in 15 minutes it won't do me much good.
Also, Chub Enterprise must die.
40 years of great starship design and they end up with this...

I would have, but I'm still waiting for them.
The first V-set was a bit of a schmozzle. It was organised through Kickstarter and printed once the target funding was reached, with people who donated over a certain amount (supposedly) receiving a set of cards once they were done.
So here we are, 6 months on. A bunch of us never received our cards, the guy who was largely responsible for organising the first set and was handling all the cash dragged everything out for 4 or 5 months and as far as I can see completely failed to sort anything out with the missing cards and has now left the project (for 'personal reasons' with (allegedly) a rather large bundle of donations for the 2nd V-set that's still in progress... and the guys who have taken over from him appear to have decided to just forget all about those of us still waiting on the first set and plow ahead with the second, third and fourth.
Suffice to say, I won't be making the mistake of supporting any of the future sets. It was a nice idea for the fans to take over the future development of the game, but the result so far has left a rather sour taste in the mouth. I'll just be carrying on with the collection I already have, I think.

where am I? *looks around* Well i'm...errr...I...I...don't know!

If a game and minis do get made, I fear they would go down the path of the clone wars due to the large profit that could be made from 10 year old boys...
Although it is enjoyable Clone Wars seems to clash with the original stuff sometimes.

I guess the copy I bought and played with and then shared with the Science Fiction forum in my college three years ago and kept there for future generations doesn't help the value?
