To be fair, you wouldn't have to modle it that way. The model to the left of that one appears to have dual chain swords, so presumably the set comes with pistol and CCW for each marine.

I think I like the ones from Chapterhouse better. I like the little airbrakes on theirs.

As a side note, I care not at all about the heresy\preheresy whatever, I sure wish they'd make assault marines troops in the vanilla codex. They look so much more awesome, and yet, so useless.

I still think what I have always thought of the MKIII... pre-heresy Iron Warriors. The MKII is really close in appearance, so... I'm gonna have to say the same.

My main question would be would the Iron Warriors have used jump packs/assault marines, with them being siege specialists?

I've always been of the opinion that Iron Warriors would not use Raptors at all (although i have a squad made out of SM packs and 'zerker bodies that i made for a giggle). Maybe bikes but even then not often. But this is a discussion for another thread i think......

Would be cool to see someone with GS skills take a squad of these and chaos them up into Raptors a la ADB's Night Lords.

Probably wouldn't take much either to be fair. Literally a few helmet swaps and some chaos icons/spikes etc and you're there,

I'd like more than spikes. The Raptor armor is pretty baroque and distinctive. Maybe these wouldn't make a great basis for Raptors after all . . .

I love the crusade era assault marine, can't wait to see MkIII to do up some iron warriors.

They should really have 2 sets of arms (2 handed, 1 handed) so you can have special weapons in each squad rather than all with bolt pistol/chainsword.

The reason i used Berzerkers as a base is that, after you clip off the stupid "horns" the helmets actually look quite similar to the Raptor ones. I agree that the Raptor packs are nice and should be reproduced in plastic or resin by someone (hint hint)

I am not a fan of the spiky look, especially for raptors. I think they're pretty decent as they are, maybe with some added chaos iconography. But your mileage may vary.

That's generally what I've heard and read about them Post-Heresy. I was more wondering about Pre-Heresy.

Basically, I was stating that the first group pictured would make a perfect assault squad for a Pre-Heresy Iron Warrior army, and was wondering if there was any precedent for such a thing, as I haven't found anything in the fluff one way or the other.

Feel free to PM me about it, or we can start a new thread in 40K Discussions to keep this one from going off topic.

These are awesome. I wish I had seen them a few months ago... my Vanguards are wearing the CH ones already. After a new Chaos Codex I will be coming back to these models for sure to expand my Black Legion with some pre-heresy goodness (or is that evilness?).

Maximus or Corvus armor would be the 'best' basis for Raptors, I think.

Definitely not a fan of the jetpacks though. But that's because they look slightly silly.

1. Instigate an across-the-board Forgeworld price increase.
or
2. Instigate a separate FW pricing structure for different regions and you'll only be able to get FW products via in-store orders.

And maybe I shouldn't have suggested that... d'oh!

See, don't think of GW's price increase and change to resin as major changes to GW - just think of it as FW taking over GW! FW prices! FW materials! It's all FW, all the time!

As far as the design of the jump packs go - I like the old skool metal turbofan jump packs more than these. I'm disappointed that they don't look more like them.

Even though I'm sore at GW right now I have to say I like them...

Now if they only got around to making models for the Primarchs. I don't see why FW don't do a Heresy Series of books and minis/accessories. All the history is there, the fan base is there & the rules will pretty much write themselves. They'd make loads of money & it will be an exciting and creative thing for GW to do but no. Access Denied

Anyway it's about time they did stuff like this. I just can't afford it - nothing ever changes : (

They probably don't because the Heresy is still being fleshed out right now through the novels.

Plus, to do the Imperial Army would require some kind of absurdly detailed troops wielding weird designs of weapons.

I personally am a big fan of the Mk III armor. So to see assault MK II is pretty cool. I love the gothic knight look of the MK II & III helmets. If I had the money I would do an entire SM army in Mk II-III armor.

Hey Warp,

Have you seen these?

http://www.maelstromgames.co.uk/index.php?act=cat&cre=min-kbk-kol

Also, there are are a lot of versions of the Primarchs available on eBay in various materials (resins or metal) of various qualities.

I bought a white resin version of the pre-Heresy Emperor just recently, and it easily matches, if not surpasses, Forgeworld quality.
