Wow. This is beautiful. That is some truly awesome SETMM. I must ask, how did you do that power sword?

VMC Burnt Cadmium red, blended down to black, then blended up through blood red, golden yellow to a white/yellow mix. White/yellow used for lightning and edge highlights, with a few spots of white for sharp highlights.

Freaking stunning, your work is a lesson to us all as usual.

As was said earlier, you don't get to see real work with metals that often anymore, it is beautiful.

Bumped the OSL a bit, following a friend's advice. Need to smooth it out a bit on the chest, but I like how it's going now. Started on the wings... lots of weathering to do on those.

So... So good. I genuinely hope more people start doing more with metallics than just drybrushing or throwing a wash on top, because they can look absolutely fantastic with a bit more work.

i like how you cracked up the wings, making them look way more real then all the people trying all sorts of elaborate feather textures or just leaving them plain white/greyish....

I would have preferred the Chapter Master with a spear... but since it's a commission, it's not possible to do it. Is it?

No, the chapter master was to have a sword. The rest of the squad however will have (big, pointy) spears. Paintwork isn't to be up to quite the same spec, but as this client has been waiting patiently for ages I'm doing a little something with the conversions.

Moving on with the honour guard, here's a first take. This guy will eventually be the equivalent of a company champion. I'll probably swap the shield out for a bigger one and use this to make the rest with a press mould.

Awesome!

You should have put the Sanguinary guard in a more dynamic position though.

Great job on the Chaptermaster. In retrospect I think I would've preferred something to break up the gold, so possibly more colours on the shoulder-pads for example. Otherwise however, that's a stunning looking model. You should put that in CMoN I'd say.

I'm liking the look of the Honour Guard too. I think the spear should be aimed a bit higher, so he's lunging at the opponents chest rather than shins , but otherwise it looks good so far!

This guy's pretty much built. The wings are attached to the JP rather than the back, same as the Chapter Master. Will help with painting (the JP/wings are just tacked on):

And the Sanguinary Novitiate (Apothecary) - just his spear to finish off:

I may remove the decoration from the discs on the left shoulders and paint the chapter icon there instead... not sure yet.

Bit more progress. May redo the counterweight on the Apothecary's spear. It's a bit messy.

For varnish I use Klear (AKA Future floor polish) and Tamiya Flat base. The precise mix depends on what I want to do. Gloss areas are pure Klear, most flat areas are about 80% Klear, 20% Flat base.

Amazing work as ever man; really impressive poses and if they look anything like the Chapter Master the painting will be sublime too.
Definitely think the 1st guy looks better with the raised spear and like he's lifting off something; the flowing scripture REALLY works too.
Loving the priest; the emblem on his shoulder pad and actually the base of his boot is done really well; he's got a great pose overall. Lovely work man.

Conversion work's pretty much done. Some chopped up sprue rubble and gritted sand will go on the bases later tonight. Should be set to prime and start painting tomorrow.

Basic candy coat done, this is pretty much what the finished tone will be. There'll be a layer of gloss over the top of it though.
