'Pro-painted' is just a term slapped onto a product to try make blind people bid more for it.
Technically it's only pro-painted if one makes their living from painting models... and is thus a professional ;D

Pro painted is a term I will never use nor master painted. It degrades the quality IMO when these terms are attached. People can tell for themselves if it's a good paint job.

I listed mine as "excellent table top quality", which is what people have been telling me it is. I would never presume to tout my stuff as Master or Pro painted.
Also, if you downplay the painting quality and your cusomter is impressed you may have a repeat customer, if you say Master painted and it looks crap that person will never buy your stuff again.
The plan now is to place the units on ebay separately. That also means i only have to do 1 pic for each entry as opposed to payign to have loads of pics to cover the entire army. Save the pennies after all.

Might be atad late but here is my advice.
When I buy models on ebay, I will never pay above retail. And by that I mean purchase price + shipping has to be below retail. Otherwise I can just go to my FLGS and pick up the models with no wait. The only expection is if it is a Special Character and it is painted extremely well. In that case I might pay a little bit over retail but not much over.
Paint - If I am buying a single unit I much rather have it primed, or unprimed (best) as it will more than likely not match the rest of my army and it will need to be repainted. That means stripping it or repriming and repainting. So why should I pay you for painting when I am just going to cover it up? Not trying to be rude just my thought process.
If I am buying a whole Army, say 2000pts and it is painted to a good table top quality (I count yours as such) and I am starting a new army then can pay a "premium" for the paint, but keep in mind my first rule about retail. That is still in effect.
Keep in mind GW is not an investment. If you buy retial, you will lose money when you sell. Unless you happen to have an extremely collectable model that is now OOP.

On Dakka he was Eldanar. In our area, he was Lee. R.I.P., Lee Guthrie. |

I agree, I would never buy models above retail, but I'm a painter first and a player second. So ideally it would be unpainted.
When shopping on ebay I always look at the things that say "pro painted" and laugh, because 9 out of 10 times, they aren't even painted to what I would call tabletop standard. I always appreciate when people put well painted or something like that because they're usually painted better than the ones listed as pro painted.
I would list individual squads, and then list bits, either as a lot or take desireable ones out and list them seperately. Bits are the one thing that people are willing to pay more for because the choice is to either buy the bits or buy the whole kit.

I have put them on with a starting price of about 60% of retail. We'll just have to see how it goes.

Arctik_Firangi wrote:You misunderstand the definition of the word 'professional', as do many people, which is exactly why the word is used. If you're doing it for a buck it's a professional painting venture.
People keep saying that, but it is just not true; Professional has more than one usage and more than one meaning (as do many words) It is perfectly acceptable to use professional as a synonym for competent, skilful, or assured (worthy of or appropriate to a professional). It does not always have to mean you are getting paid or engaged in your occupation.
Just as if I were to say something smells 'funny'; do I mean it smells hysterical? If I say someone became 'hysterical' do I mean they became funny? No and no. Am I therefore misusing these words? Also no.
