I remember when this "dubstep" was simply my modem connecting to dial-up...

Any idea on a release date?

my opinion based on the vid is that you hotseat between all the units on your side, so like you start of in sorscha, maybe cast a few spells or run up and hit something while your warjack mulls around behind you, maybe joining in with some limited AI control

then at the press of a button you swap over to the warmachine and start really throwing out some hits while sorscha becomes the limited AI
like the latest final fantasy games, only theres no real cooldown on abilities, and its all button mashing combos with the odd focus using spell/ability

if im on the money there that a really nice system for single player or co-op as its a lot easier to hide your warcaster (who is probably still the dead=you lose button) against an AI than another human in PvP

means the whitemoon dream team really needs to work on supportive AI to balance out against zerg rushing casters.

anyway, all in all, cant wait!

That trailer was RAD.

Still needs a lot of work going by that video, particularly in the animation and hit detection areas. Watching someone wildly swinging a sword and enemies just randomly falling over around him with no impact feedback is just off putting.

The groundwork is there for a decent game though.

Does look great. had a look of fable about it but that may just have been the setting.

Also i'm at work so cannot hear the sound track but reading people saying dubstep makes me die slightly inside. I'm a drum and bass/ dubstep dj, sometimes I hang my head in shame how it's the new fad, It was even on the TV coverage of Wimbledon the other day. Shocking.

I think that's the best way to describe the game play style in the trailer.

Is this full retail or an Arcade only game? Looks great anyway. Could Whitemoon Dreams be Privateer Presses relic/THQ?

I thought Dragon Age when I saw this (not for its story, but some of the mechanics looked similar. Stryker brought up what looked to be a list (in radial menu) of ablities, and then chose one. I definitely get the Dynasty Warriors vibe too.

I would most likely pick if it up if I didn't know what Warmachine/Hordes was. The game looks sweet graphically, I mean come on, the Khador and Cygnar jacks looked beautiful. bonejacks not as much, and it may have been the scene, but Kreoss and his jacks looked like he was in a smoky room.

Interesting. Where can I read this fluff?

On the game. Looks cool. Jacks look awesome. Setting looks awesome. More detail on the character faces would be nice though; stryker seems so.. lifeless.

Glad this is coming out on PC. Haven't heard of Whitemoon before. Hope they do the game justice.

Love the soundtrack. Even more I love the implied sexual tension between Stryker and Sorcha. Mmmm... clashing weapons, baby...

The game itself looks fairly middle of the road in terms of gameplay and dynamics, and Space Marine certainly looks better, but to be fair that's the difference between Whitemoon Dreams and THQ.

But it's Warmachine! It really looks like it captures the spirit of the heavy metal battle and the environment looks gorgeous. If I get Space Marine, I will also get this.

Well a Light Jack is still several tons and six or seven feet tall, so they should be hulking!

The game itself looks like a good start, hope they continue to make improvements and put out a good game.

Imo though, they didnt really took gaming seriously when making FW (not to mention its a halo CE clone). While warhammer did indeed have many (and actually good) games pre Dawn of War, I think DoW was the first time they tried to give it publicity. I doubt PP is thinking of this game as an afterthought, it is a good way to get more players

Plus with the hack n slash Dynasty Warriors style, its hard to go wrong.

What's not being mentioned here so far and I think is a very important landmark for PP, is the very fact their IP has become computer game worthy.

GW should be looking over their shoulder with serious concern now. The distance is closing fast.

As to how good this game is? I would remind you all of firewarrior and chaos gate, both of which were terrible. It did no harm to GW, just spread the IP message and increased it's worth.

pixelpusher wrote:WARMACHINE is a fast-paced and aggressive squad-based tactical action game set in the steam-powered fantasy world of the Iron Kingdoms. Players take on the role of elite soldier-sorcerers known as warcasters. Though immensely powerful combatants in their own right, the warcasters’ true strength lies in their ability to coordinate and control the mighty warjacks- massive steam-powered combat automatons that thunder across the battlefield wielding powerful weapons and engaging battle in a clash of iron and steel.

So... kinda like a squadbased shooter? But you have those Manjacks and a huge sword?

Also top marks for a non-metal, non-choral musical score.

Quite so, quite so!

And this all looks very promising indeed. I believe this game has a good chance of finally getting me into WarmaHordes. Or at least that is my empty-walleted hope.

That will all depend on whether or not you can pick up another warjack, headlock it, then beat it with the hammer in your other hand.

The warmachine/Iron Kingdoms IP was originally designed and intended to be a video game but when that didn't come to be they decided to make it into a table top game instead...

The main thing is, it has lots of Stryker beating up Khador/Menoth in it. Which means it's an insta buy.

The thing is, there's a difference between an IP being worth translating to a PC game and finding the right partner to do it justice as a PC game. It took GW a long, hard time to find Relic, and they were lucky. Relic were a bunch of 40k players before they got the license, and also made their first two games in a genre they know inside out, being one of the best at making truly different types of RTS games. They also had the technology around so they didn't have to dedicate too much of their team to making an entire engine.

The success of Dawn of War and getting the IP out there for video game players was a whole lot of luck on GW's part, considering Relic wouldn't have gotten the license if THQ didn't get it for them. I wish PP luck with this, but considering Whitemoons history is non-existent, there's every chance this isn't the right partnership for them.

I was kinda hoping for a tactical game, but this promises to be kinda cool, if you can play as more than Stryker, at least.

Making Stryker is easy, given his penchant for applying sword to face. I'm wondering how the Cryx casters will do, with their preferred method of hanging out behind the battle lines and just Arcing spells thru the Bone Jacks.
