Between Alpha and Omega, and a little to the left

I loved Daemonhunters, it was my second army next to Orks. And although they were rather weak and I generally disliked space marine armies, there was something about them I loved. I even have a squad of metal Grey Knight Terminators that I painted, even thought I never played the army outside of Vassal. Then Codex Grey Knight came out and I dropped the whole thing like a bad habit. The fluff is horrendous and the rules are soaked with power creep. In my eyes this codex is irredeemable.

Im planning on using the grey knights codex to make an army of adeptus custodes. I hate the models they released, and the fluff, but its the only codex that can accurately represent them.

The Emperor doesn't have a GKs unshakable faith in the Emperor which is....basically himself?

The new models do suck, they look much more granola, wherein the old ones had SB built into their armor and badass glaives

I agree, the new models suck. I really loved the old models of them. They were ownage.. Actually, my only wargaming friend (I do have other friends...) and I call them a bit else then Grey Knights... These poses are just... un-epic.

@ OP

Grey Knights are broken?

Awesome, that must mean I'm a fantasticly godlike 40k player in skill since I'm able to beat them handily with my dated sisters codex.

Oh wait, I only win b/c all I play are noobs. I forgot. Yawn.

When you stop complaining, you'll start learning....and get better. Analyse your losses, stop blaming things and think of what you could've done different. Learn to play 40k at a higher level.

Grey Knights are good, but not unbeatable. Learn to play better.

Space Wolves and Imperial Guard are still the top two armies by a goodly margin.

In other news, no, I don't think the codex is that broken, but the fluff leaves a lot to be desired. Still, such is fluff when it must appeal to hyperactive 14-year-olds.

I was a hyperactive 14-year old just a few years ago and even then I would have thought this fluff to be immature. Swap 14 for 10 and you're right on the ball.

Although, since Matt Ward's only written SM books, you could expect him to be targetting 10 year olds. Look at what happened when Phil Kelly wrote an SM book-the quality and immaturity whent down and up respectively. So who knows what he'll write in the 'Cron codex. It could be amazing. I'll just wait and see...

A 5 man marine tactical squad without upgrades is just 10 poins less than a 5 man grey knight squad without upgrades and the grey knights have more equipment and rules. Just confusing. Have not played against them so can't really say if it's wrong or not.

I think GW bases points costs on percentages rather then straight point values.

PAGKs take a 25% increase in cost over a tactical marine to get those upgrades. for being 25% more expensive, it better be better.

The codex, rules wise, is a very balanced one. it has a good mix of units and weaponry mixes.

the Fluff is, as always, a personal thing.

to be honest, Mat Wards fluff gets alot more hate then it deserves. things get blown WAY out of proportion.

yes, he could have left the sister incident out, but everything else is fair to ok in quality(and the Sister incident is actually quite vague. the sisters could actually have been willing sacrifices. heck, it never actually says they were killed)

Draigo also gets more hate then he deserves. yes, he is abit Mary Sue, but every book has one(Yarrick, Calgar, Ghaz, Eldrad, Drazhar, Mephiston...)

This lads got some common sense

ignore the fluff when compaining because thats a personal thing and look to the rules and you see a well balanced codex with a lot of variation.

Personally I think that when you put all the fifth edition codecies up with each other (bar nids who are still a good army in the right hands, the stealer list being used at the minute is vicious) then they are all just about on a par.

Having seen GK at one tournament it certainly wasn't them running everyone else over.

On moon miranda.

I'm definitely not a fan of how the GK book turned out, and the fluff is atrocious fanficy crap, but my...distaste...is currently reserved for Space Wolves, for many reasons.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

fluff sucks..... models however look good. plastic instead of metal is huge, and im glad to see them with more versatility then the old book. fluff is bad, but the fluff does not affect the game or how you play the army..... unless you yell "Blood for the Blood tide!!!" when assaulting... in which case maybe GK are not the army you should be playing. Rules they are decent. the FAQ clears up some of the more vague stuff and i think makes the dex decent. not OP but not auto loose either. a nice balance.

if you dont like the army then dont play them and dont buy the models. but whining about it like a prepubescent school girl is not going to change anything and only reflects poorly on not only your character but your gaming ability.

In other news, i have a shipment of fresh cheddar cheese. i heard it goes nicely with whine.
