New Stuff looks cool, but I will probably just use the models which I have already (like the 3 Griffons which I have for various armies and run them without the guys on top). And using my Chaos Dwarf Lamasu whenever I can is going to be fun!
Definatly get the new book.
I rather like the idea of being able to spend up to 25% of your points on monsters sounds like a good idea to me. More because it reminds me of 5th ed.
The whole magic fulcrum thing and the supper spells rather runs me off, but I'd like to see how the rules look before I pass better judgment.
Maybe I will just convince my gaming group to add the monster rule only and run the expansion half way.

Storm of Magic - Because some bright spark thought magic was a bit lacking in 8th ed.
I will be doing jack-all with SoM.
Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

I do like the manticore model though, looks a lot better then i what i imagined it might look like.
Gotta agree with you Humps. It just feels to me like GW are stomping all over the flavor and character of the world they created in order to just sell more large monster kits to people. I mean what self respecting high elf general would surround himself with giants, trolls and creatures of chaos to destroy his enemies?? Not a one. Same goes for the Dwarves too. Honestly I could see a desperate empire count using such forces to hold a tenuous position, but not the main forces of the Empire by any means. Same with the Lizardman forces either.
I guess ultimately if people have fun with it, that is all that matters despite my cynical take on things.

This started with 8th Edition really e.g. Psycotic trees and rivers of blood in normal areas of The Empire to try and up the ante of what can take place in the game. I wonder if they were deliberately paving the way for SoM back then. It seems unlikley they would have dropped this nonsense into previous editions of Fantasy.
Start by changing all my WOC banners to tzeentch, kit bashing some dragon ogres, digging out all my 80's gw dragons and familiars, getting at least one black dragon and going nato with them!
