I'm really not buying any more GWS stuff right now, so this doesn't affect me much. I might be interested by the time Necrons are redone, and hopefully by then they'll have it worked out. If it still sucks by them, I'll just be proxying or getting off ebay if cheap.

I love the concept of Finecast, I'm just annoyed by how lagging behind the execution is.

I haven't actualy bought any finecast minis yet, as I have a shed load of stuff to build and paint already.
Having said that, I buy ALL my 'character' minis second hand from ebay, the high price of finecast is yet another inducement to do so. If I do buy finecast, it will be second-hand finecast as and when I need to. (Assuming you can easily strip the stuff!)
I want to support GW, I really do, as they are the only ones with gaming stores close by, and I do understand that the running of those stores is what pushes up the price of their products, but I simply cant justify spending out on full-price finecast models when I have a cheaper (and arguably better) alternative.

There's no option for going to a GW store to examine it before purchase.

Although that very concept in itself is ridiculous, when buying online is much easier, it sadly has to be done for 99.9% certainty.

I'd happily buy the finecast version as no bad experiences so far.

I've given finecast a try, but I'm not impressed enough to pay more for it, or any other models. Sadly my interest in GW games and worlds as a whole spiked immensely. I now look forward to more faithful to fill the ranks of Menoth.

I will just build out of plastic models. I don't like working with metal or resin.

I like resin fine, but I hate Finecast based purely on my own experiences with it, not even taking into account all the crap I've seen online before/after the fact which obviously doesn't improve my opinion on it. So I'll either convert, do without, or if I find the old metal versions of models like the incubi on eBay or at the store I'll buy them instead.

I might still buy a haemonculus or two if I can find perfect sculpts (and assuming I'm in the mood to piss away $20 on a single fething model...Jesus Christ, man), but so far I've had no luck finding one that I would be willing to buy.

I bought from Ral Partha and a multitude of miniature suppliers before every buying from GW. Funny I still buy from other suppliers besides GW.

At one point, GW sold more Reaper and other ranges than they sold of their own products...

I can only speak for myself, so at least 1/6 would have considered buying Finecast, and GW products in general, if the senior management behaved themselves instead of being very naughty.

I would need a multi-answer poll, because it would depend entirely on the situation.

I'm not prepared to buy Finecast until they iron out the bugs. Until then, I'll do what I've always done when models are unavailable: convert or do without.

I want metal back.

Having a ready made weapon in the event of something that requires throwing a heavy metal object at someone will be missed when Finecast dominates the tabletops.

Combination of sources for me - my primary resource would be ebay but it seems prices are rising there too. Seems people are checking on the GW website and pricing their auctions accordingly, so the potential for bargains is diminished.

I can concur with this statement. IMHO ever since Jan 08 when GW reorganize their way of bits ordering, the prices of getting bits from Ebay has steadily increased.

It has increased to a point where you essentially have to purchase hundreds of dollars of excess parts that you may or may not need, bits them out and store them for future use.

The days of getting smaller bit purchases due to the high cost of shipping and handling are to me, gone. I am -NOT- going to pay 99 cents for a plastic part and then pay for $2.50 for shipping and handling!

However I am -NOT- going to pay the high prices for a product such as Finecast and have a good chance of being defective.

Also, how does one apply to be a member of the Ultramodrines? Are harsh trials involved, ones that would test my faith as a wargamer and resolve as a geek?

I thought about doing that but I decided it was better to require respondents to pick their most preferred (or least unpreferred) option.

I don't like Finecast, so I won't buy Finecast. Then again, I don't play any armies where Finecast models are required. Everything can be converted from plastic.

In fact, I'd wager that outside of SoB or Daemons, most people don't play armies where Finecast is required.

I buy Games Workshop stuff, but I do not want to buy into Finecast stuff yet. I want to wait until they get the bugs worked out a little more, and the models are less flawed. I do prefer metal models to resin, however, so when possible I'm going to try and buy them off of eBay. I know that won't work forever, though, and I will eventually have to work with the Finecast, I just want to avoid it as much as I can.
