I remember them saying that in order to take a magical shield, you had to have the option to take a normal one. Chaos Sorcerors, however, had a special exception since there was some kind of description allowing them to do so.

But the short answer is yes.

Yes sorcerers can since they wear armor they can take magic shields armor etc.

That was 7th ed

In 7th ed you had t obe able to take mundane equivalents of the type of armour (helm, armour, shield, etc) in order to take any magical versions; WoC wizards had a fluff exception that was turned into a real one via the FAQ

Fast forward to 8th and ALL magical armour is simply "magical armour" - there is no differentiator between the types any longer. And, according to the rules, all you need is the ability to take mundane armour to take magical armour.

This is true and that beind said WoC sorcerers dont mess around and wear armor because they dont mind beating a couple skulls in because they are still better than you

Ehrm, that means you need 6Models, the UC included to get the rank and file "bonus"?
So 5 wide 2+ deep wont get you a rank bonus? Would be new to be and even if it doesnt matter for me it would be interesting to know.
I always was on the "a UC is part of the rank&file stuff like musician and banner bearer.

Rank bonus is separate from "Look out Sir!" saves.

Rank bonus requires 5 models wide (3 for MI). Doesn't matter what kind, doesn't matter if some take up two "slots" (e.g.: a dude on a 40x40 base in a unit of 20x20 models).

Look out Sir! requires 5 rank and file members in the unit. Unit champ and characters do not count for that. So if you had a unit whose front rank was 5 across, and included a unit champ and a character, you would need at least 2 non character models in the second rank for your Character to qualify for Look out Sir!.

Ah ok, my bad It´s just about LoS than. That´s pretty clear sure, would be awesome to fill first rank of my goblins with 5 chars and have LoS for all 5 of them

@Gorbad - as long as there are 5 rank and file models in the unit you will get a LoS roll for all characters and champions. A unit tmarichards 40 gobbos plus 1 champ and 4 characters making the unit size 45 will give them all a LoS roll until 36 rank and file models are removed. That's my take on the rule!
