That's the stuff!

Sometimes? That's pretty much the standard for me. I have to buy that stuff in bulk. I'm particularly partial to the new-ish crunchy stuff. Fine, fine work Belgium. This should be added to the Nations Achievements thread.

I just wrote down the recipe for my cake in another thread so here goes

Warning
Chocolate cake with chocolate frosting that tastes amazeing.
Many dairy products in this cake!
Gluten in this cake!

Name: The "Makes up for not ave'ng a green wang" Chocolate cake.

2 cups sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup cocoa
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon of vanilla (MUST HAVE!)
1 cup coffee (make a pot and measure out a cup)
1 cup canola oil (IT MUST BE CANOLA OIL, BUY IT IF YOU DON”T HAVE IT)
1/2 cup of milk
2 eggs

Sift dry ingredients together first. Mix wet ingredients together then add to dry ingredients. Beat until smooth.

Spray 3 9-inch pans with spray oil. Pour the batter into the 3 pans equally.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake for 20-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. (check at 20 minutes then again every 3-5 minutes after until its done.

You will have 3 round chocolate cakes.

NOW FOR THE FROSTING!!!!!!

One stick of butter (IT MUST BE REAL BUTTER!)
One 8oz packet of cream cheese (IT MUST BE REAL CREAM CHEESE!)
Let them sit out on your counter to soften up. Then place both in a bowel and beat the gak out of them with some electric beaters (or tabletop mixer with the whisk attachment) until smooth. MUST BE VERY SMOOTH, NO CHUNKS!
Then add ¼ cup of milk and 1 teaspoon of vanilla (AGAIN VANILLA NOT OPTIONAL!)
Beat until smooth again
Add at least one half cup of cocoa (ADD MORE LATER IF IT TASTES TOO MUCH LIKE POWDERED SUGER AND NOT ENOUGH LIKE CHOCOLATE!)
Add powdered sugar until the frosting is thick, this may take a while. Taste often to judge both thickness and chocolate taste. Note: this frosting will melt like butter because it is butter, if the cakes are still warm this stuff will ooze out. If you leave it in a hot car it will melt and ooze. But it is still damn good.

Build a three layered cake with the frosting in the middle, top, and edges.

(FOR BEST TASTE COVER AND LET SIT FOR A FEW HOURS)

Serves plenty of people.

Cover when it's not being eaten to keep it moist

This cake when properly prepared will taste better than any cake you have ever had before.

In your base, ignoring your logic.

I usually just doctor up prepaid mixes. The dark chocolate cake mixes especially.

PMS Cake:

2 boxes of Dark chocolate cake mix(and all ingredients included on back on boxes)
1/2 bag of Reese's peanut butter morsels
1/2 bag of semi-sweet chocolate morsels
1/2 bag of butterscotch morsels
1 jar of raspberry jelly
1 packet of raspberry jell-o mix
1 tub of buttercream icing
1 tub of chocolate icing
1 bag of jumbo marshmallows
confectioner(powdered) sugar

Alright the whole recipe is on the back of the cake mix boxes so follow that but add all of the morsels to the mix before baking.

The one thing you do need to know is to take the marshmallows and put them in a large bowl and to get them wet with some water, don't have to fill the bowl up just make sure all of the marshmallows are a bit wet. Stick the bowl in the microwave for 30 seconds, stirring every 10 seconds. This will create a marshmallow fondant, after its cooked take a large baking sheet and cover it in confectioner sugar. After this it'll be like kneeding dough for bread. Keep going until it becomes malleable but no longer sticks.

It should be enough to make two 9x13 cakes which is what you want to do. After this point let the cakes cool down on a rack. After they coold own carefully place the first one down and take the buttercream and make a small wall on the top part of the cake. Take the jar of jelly and heat it up until it becomes mostly liquid, place the liquid jelly into a bowl and mix with the jell-o mix. Once mixed pour it on top of the bottom layer. The buttercream should be thick enough to hold back the jelly filling and prevent it from leaking over the side, the jell-o mix helps keep it all together as well.

Place the second cake on top and use the buttercream to finish off the 'crumb layer' of the frosting. Take the fondant and roll it out with a rolling pin, using the confectioner sugar to keep it from sticking, and place the thin fondant sheet on top of the cake. It should be enough to cover both layers and the butter cream should stick to the fondant, if it doesn't stick you can take a little bit of water and spray it on the buttercream to make it somewhat sticky again. Trim the fondant to make it look nice and then cover with the chocolate icing.

If all is done according to the recipe it should taste sweet enough that it actually begins to taste like coffee.

Otherwise I just whip up a batch of brownies, get some vanilla ice cream, and whip up some hot fudge to cover it.

The measurements are "U.S." measurements so seek conversion help if you're from some god-forsaken place like Australia where a cup isn't really a cup.
Feel free to copy down the recipe and distribute as you see fit BUT make sure you credit me with "from some loon on the dakka boards."

Forbidden Brownies

Ingredients
1 1/2 sticks unsalted butter (melted)
1/2 Cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 Cup unsweetened dark cocoa powder
3/4 Cup sugar
1/2 Cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
2 large eggs (at room temp)
1 Teaspoon vanilla
3/4 Cup flour
1/4 Teaspoon salt
1 Cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 Cup white chocoolate chips
1 cup Walnuts, chopped
20 soft caramel squares

Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line an 8x8 baking dish with parchment paper.
2. In a large bowl, melt the caramel squares along with 2 tablespoons of water. A microwave works well for this. Set this bowl aside.
3. In another large bowl, mix together the melted butter and both cocoas. Mix until there are no lumps.
4. Add suger to cocoa mixture, mix well.
5. Add eggs and vanilla to cocoa mixture, mix well.
6. In yet another large bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Add to cocoa mixture and mix well.
7. Add chocolate chips and walnuts to mixture, mix well.
8. Spread mixture into lined dish.
9. Drizzle melted caramel over top of batter and using the tip of a knife, swirl the caramel into the batter.
10. Bake for 30 mins. Brownies will be too soft to test with a tooth-pick or anything else. Let brownies cool in the pan.

Enjoy!

Reading the above immediately made me think of this...

Premade stuff is meh, but so much faster to use. Especially when cooking dinner at the same time.

I don't so much mind " boxed" cake mix or what have you, if the Missus makes a cake using Duncan Heinz or whatever...I'll have some.
But as far as Pre-made/pre-packaged stuff I tend to beg off...except for the occasional piece of cheese cake or some ice cream.
