Maybe 'plating' it in thin plasticard? Only reliable solution to the texture problem I can think of. Great looking project though.

all Citadel paints are Acrylic paint which are water based and don't melt polystyrene, so I am just doing to use acrylic paints which I have plenty of. Before I paint onto it I am going to seal the model with something like Plasticard or something else

Thats why I decided to build the wrecked Titan because I wanted too make the play field seem bigger I mean we'v all seen a Titan at Forge World or at a Tournament but thats it! My Rhino which I know is small compared to the Land Raider seem HUGE cause its the biggest Vehicle in my army so I wanted to make Everything Shrink. Buildings make the space marines look small but the Giant Titan's foot JUST its foot makes them seem also small.

plasticard is expensive for this application.
seriously, just use some newspaper and some wood glue. think paper mache. its cheap, abundant, and when you are done it will be lightweight and easy to spray paint on. it will also have a nice firm surface.
painting acrylic on that type of foam will bead up and the paint will not stick. the acetone in the spray paint will eat the foam quickly.... but in some areas that might be a good thing. maybe like a plasma coil exploded or something. blast through the armor.

here are the first Couple of layers for my recked Warhound Titan. Can you give some tips on how to improve from this grave situation I have got into. Do you think flock would help with the appearance of the Titan as a Terrain piece because the background to the shadow legion is that they are fighting on the there home world at the moment which is forest/jungle like terrain.
Opps his head is not on!

its looking great so far! don't beat yourself up!
consider painting it black all over first. this will darken its entire appearance.
if you want to make it look like its been there a while and has been engulfed by the foliage, get yourself some knitting yarn in dark brown (usually about $1 or less) then soak it in a mix of elmers or wood glue and water (you will know what works best for you) and lay the strands out to look like vines.
this gives the model some good fraying and looks like fuzzy vines have surrounded it. then dab on some glu and full in a fe places with some mossy flocking, oe even some clump foiliage or some static grass.
also, drybrushing is your friend (hoppefully BEFORE you apply the vines, but its not vital)
if you want area's to rust, apply a small thin spattering of orange and brown paint mix, then highlight that with a splattering of orange thin minx over the top. and then finally the same with some tin bits or copper thinned out.
there is an excellent article on rusting in an old WD that I have, I should post it.....
your project is coming along great bro! I would put it on my table any day!

With the texture of your material... I agree and think rusting it would really make things work well! Just go crazy on the rust as if its been there for quite some time and been eaten up by the environment! Some vines over it and some other overgrowth and it will look great!
This is simply a Titan that's been wrecked for some time!

Adding Battle damage will add to it and take away flatness. pluck at the foam with tweezers to make little holes. Add cracks, more holes, and add lots of different size wires. Use cut up pieces of sprue as rubble. as said before Dry Brush is your friend. With damaged terrain the more mistake you make for some reason makes it look better.

Thanks for the reply's of tips. I have a idea that to help making this Titan not look so flat maybe I could mould onto the front of the Titans legs and its back my Chapter's, the Shadow Legion, insignia.

Looks awesome. I think the polystyrene give it that weathered feel. If its been there for a while and its supposed to be a Jungle planet, why not have creepers and vines growing over it?

Looks great!
For future reference painting a coat of PVA glue over it would help hide the texture and since it's water based it won't melt the polystyrene plus it'll dry clear, if perhaps a touch shiny.

Sorry Guys about the wait, School started last week and have not had the time to get further on my Titan or even add a new post towards it, but the wait (for those who were waiting) is over here is the nearly finished Destroyed Titan! (sorry that the pic quality is not so great Blackberry Cams suck)
Next would be finishing the base by adding flock, vines and other vegetation along with highlighting.
Rules for actuarial playing with it: I know that the Titans main body is Impassible but does that mean the entire terrain piece is Impassible?

@ Nightfall
The terrain can be whatever you decide it to be before the game.
I would personally make the actual Titan impassable, but the rest of the area terrain difficult/dangerous. That should work well and be generally accepted by all

Wow i really like this idea.
I think i may steal it once i move to my new apartment with ample space.
I think i'll try and model it so that the entire crashed titan takes up right around 25-35% of a 6x4 so that it would be its own theme.
Use rubble as 5+ and 4+ area terrain
Legs/arms/torso as BLOS
and possible the head/torso as "counts as" ruins/buildings that troops can enter and use for cover.

I'm planing after these pieces are done to make more but like other that are still standing but the chest has been completely destroyed. Also I restarted fallout 3 on Saturday, (16 before the PC broke) and thought of making ruined, recked bridges that were once Highways.

If you are really worried about scale look up one of the warhound templates they have all over the internet. I used one to make a warhound of my own and well it might not look as nice as the Forge world one that is mostly caused by my use of around $10 for the whole project instead of trying to find a place to by plastic card.

It's lank chilled either way. A good paintjob will make up for bad modelling more than a good (see: expensive) model will make up for a bad paintjob, but obviously having both ideal is, well, ideal
