Looks like great terrain but I imagine it'll be crazy expensive for us Americans.

I really like it I just wish there were more US based companies doing this

Really impressed with these and with the Aquila decorative insert. I look forward to seeing the Chaos start decorative inserts. Also are there any plans for Savage Orcs decoarative inserts? I imagine that some careful positioning could create a carefully haphazard look.

I agree, it will be about 1.5 times as expensive for us not including shipping

Games Workshop: Ruining Chaos Space Marines since 2007

First they raised prices on the Eldar, and I did not speak out because I did not play Eldar.

Then, they raised prices on the Orks, and I did not speak out because I did not play Orks.

Then, they raised prices on the Nids, and I did not speak out because I did not play Nids.

Then, they raised prices on the Marines, and there was nobody to speak out for me.

Sure there is. Its called impassable terrain. I know the concept of actually using impassable terrain is not well understood by gamers, but its there for a reason, and this is one of them.

Quit your complaining, boy. You dont have to model the terrain with that anti-assault wall up if you dont like it. In any case, terrain like this is perfectly acceptable in normal games of 40k. Just set it up in the neutral area between deployment zones, etc./balance it so that both sides have equal opportunity to occupy it and you're good to go.

Troll much? I have no problems with impassible terrain. However if you think that a defensive position that comes with an impassible wall around it comes anywhere near a balanced game, then you have no idea of what that term means.

Good to know the outer wall can be removed.

This is why you give the wall armour (as it is in the BRB) so it can be destroyed. Nuff said IMHO. This will make Planet strike better that is for sure, and don't let me mention Apoc. . . oh god the fun. . .

There is no terrain in the BRB with an armor value, Lysenis. The closest thing is an occupied building, but that's clearly different.

You could just give the wall structure points similar to a sinle story occupied building...

My apologies, you are correct. But tell me this if there are objects can we not give them a Armour value? I have done this many a game myself (had berserkers tear down a wall right infront of me. . .was almost a bad day. . .)

My suggestion would be to treat this like the Walls that can be taken in Apoc.

I'm seeing some of these comments and my only thought is WTF.

Aside from the comment on the neat set, you guys ARE joking right?

HOW MUCH IS THE SET?

WHERE CAN I GET TWO?

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

But it's not true, you can always say these walls are impassible terrain. Jump troops could still get in but no one else could climb them.

Give the walls an armor value like bunkers and your opponent can also blast them apart.

Sounds reasonable to me.

This is why IMO 40k games creativity. Try breaking out of the "both players just grabbing X points and showing up on neutral ground" theme.

Say defender gets 1500 points and the fortress, attacker gets 2000.

Hell, if the attacker used a little bit of thought of the obstacle, he would realize that jump and/or deep strike troops would bypass the wall nicely.

Or just use the old way...knock down the fething gate and storm the keep.

Looks good!

For the price, that's a whole lot of terrain. When I get paid I think I might just pick up that £25 set and see how it goes.

What sort of overall table footprint size are we looking at for the £25 £40 and £65 sets?

Can the external risers on the outside be left off without any problems if we want to use the pieces as more of a barricade than a fortress?

Some other ideas:

- Another corner set that connects pieces at an angle of greater than 180 degrees, so that we can use concave curves in the finished build as well as convex ones (and open up possibilities like a winding line of barricades stretching across the battlefield).

- T-junction pieces. These would add some more options, for stuff like a secondary defensive line in front of the fortress but still part of it.

It looks good, great job. It might be a bit hard to use on the table (perfect for Planetstrike, though), but it'd make great display boards.

These guys are gamers themselves and seem to be willing to look into ways of helping you get what you want (take notes GW), just drop them a PM I'm sure they'd be happy to help.

If you check the last couple of page on their thread (link at the bottom of their posts) you can see what they look like in different positions, short answer though is yes they can, they fold/slot in flat to the main barricade.

You are able to use the pieces provided to do that anyway, a 90 degree corner is made up of 4x22.5 degree pieces and additional corners can be bought that bend both ways allowing for convex and concave defensive lines to be created.

Ah, yeah, I see it now, convex and concave:

I'm sold on these now, really nice bit of kit that a lot of thought and skill has gone into. Eyeing up one of the bigger sets now since they are better value...

The whole flatpack + easy assembly thing is great too, terrain can often be a pain to store.

Hopefully these will sell well so other things become viable... I'd personally love to see a set of modular medieval ruins for Mordheim, would buy a whole tableful of them.

Yeah those corners gave harry a bit of a headache!

I'd say that the barricades don't require glue, and are of a snap fit design. Once painted the extra thickness added gave a very rigid fit. (even though we airbrushed them!)

Lets hope they sell, as you say, if the kits get out there we most definitely will be adding to the range

Warmill,

Are there right angle corners in amongst any of this stuff or it is only the 90 degree curve?

Can the Heavy weapon/firepoints for fill this use?

I think notprop might explain what he's looking for better, but I assume he means "Is there any that have a near-zero bend radius in addition to those with a larger bend radius?"

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.

I think I understand the question, its as balance wrote; the 90 degree is in the 4 piece corner, currently that's all we have available. We did a render of what could be a sharper 90degree section, but it didn't really have the same characteristics as the rest of the barricade system.

the 'inside' curves will be available in a week or so.

If you have any suggestions or recommendations about the products, please feel free to head over to our 'main thread' where we undergo a fair amount of development with users of the the forum!

Thanks again for looking!!

Clearly anther example of the well known Germanic humour then.

@ Warmill that's it, a sharp corner would be a better fit for smaller tables. Perhaps one for the future then.

here's some renders of the complete kits to give everyone an idea of sizes for their respective gaming tables. Remember this is just the standard arrangement, you can put the stuff together how you like

Thanks to everyone who's ordered so far, although we've been lucky enough to get access to some sweet kit we're just a couple of geeks who got bored of playing call of duty a few months back and we've really been putting in the hours on Warmill ever since. Knowing even one person wants our stuff makes all the days of getting home from work and slogging it on a PC until the early hours of the morning worthwhile!
