Facing Daemons with my gunline space marines. 1500 points. I make him go first, first turn fateweaver plops down about 6" from my line. So my turn I shoot everything at it. Like 2 full tac squads, a LC dread, everything on a LRC, some speeders, EVERYTHING. Nothing wounds him. The last thing to fire was the stormbolter on my rhino. Hits, wounds, he fails armor, fails the reroll, fails his leadership test and flees (one of fateweaver's special rules). On turn one. Freakin' rhino stormbolter.

Two Quad Scything Talon Carnifexes charge a Chaos Landraider; It didn't move, so all attacks auto hit, 2 miss, 1 glance, 7 pen.

Immobilised, 1 Weapon Destroyed, and the rest was stunned/shaken (all ignored because he took an upgrade).

I've had a fair few, but i'll list the more recent.

Just 2 days ago, i had a squad of 8 banshees charge a single librarian. They only caused a single wound but it gets worse, the librarian cause 2 back, i roll yup, boxcars, i then roll a 2 for sweeping advance it was terrible.

Another time, 5 FD lining up mephiston, i roll to hit, 1,1,1,2,3 they were promptly massacred next turn

This wasnt a WTF for me but my friend. He Used 2 land raiders and 1 rhino, put berserkers in 1 LR and then CSM's in the others. He keeps them all in a REALLY tight formation to block LOS on the rhino. I call in an earthshaker blast on turn 2 with my Master of the ordinance. It lands on target...penetrates ALL of the vehicles...both Land Raiders Explode and Rhino is immobilized. To add to this, he fails 1/2 of his zerker saves and 4 CSM saves. it was a 2000 pt game and he lost almost 1000 points from 1 earhshaker blast on a guy that i brought in for 30 pts.

i lost 3 guardsman and none of my tanks in this battle. it was an annihilation.

Apocalypse: two CSM Lords attached to a 20-man squad of CSM and another two CSM Lords attached to another 20-man squad.
Njal rolls his power that all enemy within range have to take a morale test. One rolls a 10 - barely surviving. The other rolls an 11 then proceeds to roll 8" move taking 2 guys off the board - lose 20 man and two buffed up chaos lords. WTF.

Second situation: Razorwing vs necrons. I have unloaded on the necrons and they have taken enough damage to at least cover my points in the razorwing. Shoots at it with heavy destroyers 1 pen - make my flickerfield save. Goes at it with destroyer squadron 3 pens - make all three flicker field saves. Force him to shoot his last full squadron of destroyers - 2 pens. I make one and fail the last one.
WTF instead of him lighting up my army, it is he manages only to drop one razorwing for all his fire.

Third situation: Sadly duplicated many times, my 5 termies roll up and the opponent unleashes his flamer 5 hit, 3 wounds.... i manage to roll three 1s. (Geez, glad I paid all those points for terminators...)

My WTF moment was in a game of 40k, I was C:SM, and it was vs CSM.

Somehow, the gods favored me. Pedro Kantor survived getting hit with a battle cannon 3 times, killed two Deamon Princes, and then wrecked a squad of Khorne Berserkers. I note- PEDRO KANTOR. Everyone got to hit before he did, and everyone got their armor save to shooting.

I still stand by the highlight of my 40k career as my greatest WTF moment:

After taking around 100 lasgun shots, 10 plasma gun shots, a vanquisher round and a HWS full of auto cannons, Fateweaver ran from getting kicked in the shins by a guardsman sergeant.

i play a fluffy IG army themed after tanith, my opponent for that day was with a nurgle/khorne CSM army, a few interesting this always occured:

1. A Det-Pack or blast weapon (from my guys) would NEVER pen an enemy Vehicle, unless one of my guys died using it. When they did. . . every time.
2a. Gaunt Killed anything he could poke his sword with, they never made a save.
2b. When Gaunt took a wound, another squad shot/assaulted EXCEEDINGLY well.
3a. Nurgle FNP is nullified by lasgun fire, everything else it will work against.
3b. IG FNP is nullified by Bolt Pistol Fire, everything else it will work against.
4. 'Zerkers hit with template weapons will always be able to charge the squad that flamed them, even if they ran away. (i stoped using flamers after this happened twice)

though i think the biggest WTF came from before and after the Gaunt model died in CC. While he was on the table, i never failed a leadership check. After he was removed from play, i never passed a single one.

Obviously your troops were completely demoralized by watching Gaunt get hacked to bits, and lost their nerve.

As of about an hour ago:

10 Pariahs footslogging behind a Monolith were left in the open when it was blown sky high, with 2 squads of 15 lootas in easy range, and no cover in easy reach.

Both squads rolled maximum shots, and both unloaded on the Pariahs. Every shot either failed to hit or failed to wound.

Not only that, but the next round they weathered another barrage of 45 shots total, and only lost one Pariah, before closing with a loota block, gunning down most of them and obliterating the rest in close combat.

Both my opponent and I were awed at how this normally suboptimal unit refused to die

My favorite WTF moment was actually in Necromunda. Was playing a friend in a local league. 4 of his gangers were armed with lasguns. For those who aren't familiar with the first edition of necromunda there is a chance that your weapon will run out of ammo and if it runs out of ammo there is a chance the gun could blow up as well and have to be replaced. To explode a lasgun needs to fail 2 2+ ammo rolls in a row. My friend proceeded to shoot with all 4 gangers with lasguns, was required to make an ammo roll with each and proceed to fail all 4 rolls and then also failed all 4 rolls to see if the lasguns exploded. Craziest thing I ever saw.

Most recent in 40k for me was in a game where I was playing Nurgle Chaos Marines against a friend's Tau. He fired his 2 broadside suits and main tank guns at my Nurgle plague hulk (a specialized nurgle defiler from Imperial Armor apocalypse 2) and hitting. Everytime he would either fail to penetrate or would end up rolling a 1 on the damage table. Oh look my plague hulk is daemon possessed so ignores shaken and stunned results. Hahaha...Plague hulk should have been dead on turn 1 or 2, but survived the entire game eventually damaing the tank and destroying both broadsides. Hahahahaha

I play tau and when I was playing my friend who plays SW, and when I fired at his land raider guess what happened ( ). This happened 3 straight turns.
