This looks fantastic but..

Will they be available to the UK?
Will P&P make this too expensive even if it is?

And a light kit would add extra awesome to this already excellent design. A small strip lamp or white LED clusters on the underside of each shelf and lid, keeping your minis illuminated while also stored and being shown off.

How heavy is it compared to the other cases out there? I'd imagine the metal shelves can make it pretty heavy.

And I think it's a fine case for casual folks too not just tournament players. I tend to build horde armies that have lots of big models mixed in and it's a pain having to fill up 1 4" high tray just for 1 model, and some are even bigger than the tray, so I have to waste another 1" tray upside down above it to make a lid. So something like this would work great for me, even though I play maybe 2-3 times a year...

I tend to stay away from hard cases mainly due to their weight.

Looks awesome.

Generic Magnetic carrying cases;

Last year at Adepticon we made magnetic carrying cases out of this (Available at Wal Mart and Hobby Lobby with different sizes);

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ccreJx5dd6M/TiZi1z0geuI/AAAAAAAAAlE/aTqS3NPvPpk/s1600/IMG_1083.JPG

Just bought a cheap piece of tin, cut it to size, glued it down and spray painted the whole thing black. Cost about 7 bucks to make I think and I could turn my tray upside down and my Custodes would still hold.

That display looks awesome though---I wouldn't mind dropping 150-200 just for the utility + aesthetic of it.

I think that the two can serve different purposes. The magnetic case with pull out trays is a definite plus for getting an army onto the table and switching between tables more quickly.

Battlefoam bags would probably be the way to go if you needed to check your bag to travel or if you needed to ship something in a bag. I can't imagine the magnetic trays would hold up to the pounding packages get in transit with a shipping company.

I love Battlefoam. Between their great product and customer service they have me as a customer. But I'm also really interested in the TableWar case, and I'm sure I'll be ordering one in the near future.

It was designed to be light but if you put 300 lead figures in it... ;-)

We are working on getting all the specs up on the website now. I'll give a shout when its up.

Argh... my wife asked me to forward the link to her, which I'm doing so, but I can't tell what to recommend. I don't understand what unit trays need to be added to the main set (which seems to come with 4 display boards and 1 tray... and unit trays seem to go on the display boards, but none are included).

Would it be possible for you to post here a "recommended fantasy loadout"? Or, perhaps just describe what the loadout is for the skaven army that you linked to (and is shown in the BOLS article)?

With some helpful PMs from Dugg and perusing the website, I figured out the components of this system finally

-Display Tower, is the large box / outer casing
-Display Boards are the "shelves". 4 of them come with the Tower, along with a Tray
-Unit Trays drop into the Display Boards. The Skaven army pictured didn't have any, he just cut his own tin to go in the Display Boards. I am going to do something similar... however, I think the Unit Trays could be very useful for 40k players. For fantasy, I need a custom configuration for my odd movement trays, so I'll go the DIY route

So, suggested to my wife that I'd love the Display Tower and 2 extra Display Boards (for a total of 6). Obviously, if I've been good and get it for the bday, I'll post up lots of pics!

Those items say they should be released on August 13th... some of the unit trays just say preorder and don't list an expected release date, so I'm not sure if it's the same.

Thanks for all the help, Dugg

I do- and I've never personally had that issue (that's why I said "the idea" of it). However, it has scared me away from foam, as it's happened to friends... that and cramming models in and out of standard foam (not custom cut battlefoam) seems to lead to a lot of broken models. That has happened to me a few years ago when I was using foam cases...

It doesn't seem like a good idea to have my models "rubbing" against other things, regardless- especially metal models that chip easier, or fragile models with lots of bits that can break off.

Also... does anyone have a contact email or phone number for TableWar?
Edit: Got one from Dugg on here, thanks!!

Glad to hear that UK sales are on the cards, I think I'm going to start saving up for one of these.

You guys are the first people to market with a magnetic carry case, absolutely none of the other companies have done anything event remotely like this.

Quick, patent the idea to stop battlefoam from copying it. They are quick to do it with their own products, and you should too, otherwise they will copy this idea and sell it for cheaper due to being able to secure lower manufacturing costs.

It's listed as having a few patents-pending (with file numbers, I think) on the website, scarletsquig, so it looks like they've got that base covered.

Damn nice looking cases. Not sure how practical they are for transporting an army but they would be kick ass once at the tourney venue.

Nice looking cases.

Problems I have:

Apparently no shipping to Canada?

No way to contact this company by email or any other means.

I see their pre-orders being very bottlenecked by these 2 factors combined with very little description as to how the trays work etc... unless they expect customers to go scouting around on the internet for videos showing the mag trays etc.

I would love to pre-order one but it says they don't ship to BC or Alberta, so guess my money stay in my pocket.

I have their email, Solanthus- if you want it, just PM me, or PM Dugg (who I believe is the owner).

Also, I found the trays confusing, but if you click on the images for each and blow them up on their website, each image has a description that I found verrrrrrrry helpful. Watching the video in the link in the OP also helps. You can see him slide out the Display Board (looks like a shelf), take out a Unit Tray (3 fit on each Display Board) and put it back.

I think just the loadout that comes with it, the 4 Display Boards (shelves) is a great enough thing to start with for fantasy, although I'm hoping to get a few extra to swap in and out and just leave models on it. I'll have to put in my own tin, or do what the Skaven player who won the ToS tournament did and put in foam with tin under it to make it look better.

For 40k, you'll probably need the Unit Trays, but if you click on each on the website it's pretty clear what models can fit in each.

However, I don't think the Unit Trays are as close to being released- the Tower and Display Boards are listed as expected release on August 13th, not sure about the unit trays.

Hope that helps!

So will battle foam do something like this too? I think if they can get the price down, I'd pick one up.

Neat idea... I transport magnet-bottomed minis in a metal toolbox the same way.

The issue is I could never fit my ork armies into anything like this. I have a 2000pt NOVA army and it barley fits on my display board, and I am by no means playing a horde army!

How? You glue a rare earth magnet to the bottom of your model and they stick to it.

I love it! It's pricey, but absolutely fantastic. Not sure if I am going to order one or not though..

Here's my big ForgeWorld Meka-Dread, in progress, with a little .250" (6.3mm) in each foot base.

I'll post more photos of the Dread and the diorama I'm working on soon.

Glue it with super glue or 5min epoxy, I just use super glue. Just try to get the magnet to be flush with the bottom so you get a good connection to the tin. Some guys are adding a little bit of card stock, a little square piece of business card thickness to help them get their smaller magnets to go flush.

Side not, some friends that want the case have started with some of the Unit-Trays to build out their Army and are saving up for the case. The Display Boards and Unit-trays are a nice stand only for showing of your Army at home or if you have shelf space at your local store.
