Use those extra points on some Warbuggies would be my advice. Either that or upgrade your Trukks with Rokkits to make them deadlier once they drop off their cargo.

Thanks, yeah orks are good fun. Definitely looking forward to getting some paint on them and some more games in.

The pivot move is definitely borderline abusive and in a casual game I wouldn't do it if my opponent had a problem with it. But, it is definitely legal by raw. It only really helps long vehicles who don't lose anything by exposing side armor like trucks, raiders and land raiders.

I was actually thinking rams would be the best use of the points. They make me safer through terrain and being.g able to go 19" and tank shock is potentially game winning. Have you tried them out?

Personally, i only ever take RPJ and rams on my trukks. Rams are fantastic as not only can you re-roll dangerous terrain tests but you can also tank shock units and, while not always that effective but fun!, ram other vehicles. All for 5pts, cant beat it.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. The Trukks start getting expensive, but they can be so good when they work, and with 6, some of them should make it across the board.

The Boarding plank, while not useful in my last game, just seems too good to pass. I am going to try them again as they can really give you a huge advantage and they keep your squad inside safe from at least one unit's shooting. I'll try with and without them, but I feel that they are probably a good bet to keep.

The Ram seems too good to pass up too, as you said. I'll have to try it out in my next practice game. I also want to try the wrecking ball on a few trukks as it could also be so damn good. Str 9 hit on a platform that moves 13" is great after the boyz get out.

GO ORKS!!! I've been tempted to try out big gunz more in my footsloggers list. Nice to hear that they can be useful since I just finished making some from scratch.

Kannons are fantastic for their points, really a stand-out unit. I made mine from extra bits, too, and I really like the way they came out.

Love love love this list! The lootas + kannons list is a bit of technology I've seen here and there, but definitely underutilized (darn heavy slot being so awesome!). You remember Josh, of course? He runs the lootas + kannons with foot orks (20 w/ 2 rokkits, klawnob). A couple notes-

Reinforced ram is an autoinclude. Tank shock spamming ld8 space wolves off the table, rolling through terrain (mostly) without fear... I just figure it into the points of the trukk.

Why not run lootas at 9? It still gives you the 3 casualties to force a test threshold, and frees up some points for boarding planks or ammo runts (more tech on the kannons).

Boarding planks are amazing. A little bit of my orky soul dies every time I see a battlewagon built without one. However, on trukks... I'd have to test it. Run it both ways and let me know! If you're definitely buying the klaws on the big meks I would run them for sure. RPJ is another auto-include on wagons that I'm on the fence about with trukks. If you do all of those upgrades you're looking at 50 points a trukk... a bit pricey imo.

Rokkit buggies are amazing! And exactly in fluff and flavor for this kind of list! I would find a way to get at least one squadron in, at 105 points you can't beat it.

Thanks for the input, Russ. Yeah this list was something I have wanted to do for years and when the opportunity came along to buy most of the models cheap, I couldn't pass it up.

The Rams are pretty damn awesome, I was thinking about using the extra points for them. And I may drop two squads of lootas to 9 and pump the other to 12 to increase it's break threshold.

The boarding planks are really good, but I found myself getting out of my Trukks a lot and not using them. However, if I were to play Grey Knights or something where I can't beat them in assault, I think the boarding planks would be the best weapon I had against them.

It'll take some experimentation, but so far the list is a lot of fun to play.

Boarding planks certainly do a number on enemy dreads.

Boarding Planks are good in theory, but usually when you get close enough to use them, the Trukk doesn't survive for long after that which dumps the boys out, usually with a few deaths...

That is a good point, and something to consider. I'll have to try some more games with and without them.

Wrekkin' Balls might be a decent alternative- same Strength, though only one shot- however, it'll always hit on a 4+ regardless of how fast the other vehicle moved, and doesn't need to be 'manned'.

I love speed freaks and ur list but maybe you could drop a big Mek for a warboss with a power klaw. You already get a cover when you go full out. And that monster will help against marines or death guard or even nids. He's an amazing character that will make ur opponent cry when he is in combat. Maybe take of a boy for more points for an attack squig too

I dont see the pivot move as cheeky at all. Its there for all to see and you assume risk doing this depending on the vehicle as you expose side armor. Some missions require deployment first before the dice roll for first turn. Its a risky move but not cheeky.

@anvildude
yeah I agree. I want to try them out. They look cool, too!

@funnyguy2112
I don't have my book on hand, but I thought only Skimmers got the save from going flat out? I am pretty sure that's the case. If not, I'd for sure take a warbles for the reasons you listed.

@kaiservknhugal
I agree. It is perfectly legal but some people have an issue with it.

Bikes actually always have a 4+ cover save. Could take them instead.

And I think it's anything that goes Flat Out gets the save- it's a function of going Flat Out, not the vehicle.

I'm away from home but I am pretty danger sure it's only Skimmers going flat out that get the save. It replaced Skimmers only being able to be glanced when going over 12" from last edition.

I could be wrong though. Does anyone have a book handy that could check that?

The extended to 3+ cover save goes for anything that Turbo Boosts. They have to have the Turbo Boost special rule I think.. And I think the turbo boost move has to be declared and has to be more than 18"... Correct me if i'm in the wrong ball park!

That is correct. You get a 3+ cover save if you Turbo Boost using the USR, and then only if you end up 18" or more away from where you started.

It's also interesting to note that Turbo-boosting prevents you from being pinned..................

Only bikes can Turbo boost though.

If a fast vehicle could get a cover save, blood angels and speed freaks would be pretty awesome! Well, even more awesome.

And Russ knows all too well about Turbo boosting and pinning! What a bust that was. You probably would have won that game had you known that. You were about to launch a serious multi assault.
