So I finally got to play a game tonight with a fellow Zero Comp teammate, Louise. We have been so busy with preparations for our GT, the Bay Area Open, that we have not been able to play much lately. Well, I finally got to take my shiny new Ork army out for a test drive.

The goal with the army was a fun list that was competitive. I have my hard core tournament lists and so I wanted this to be a list that was themed, fairly unique but competitive enough that I would enjoy playing it.

Still have some points to spare as I iron out the list.

Mission: Pitched Battle, Annihilation

Louise brought his no nonsense IG list (from memory).

So I thought I would most likely get my clock cleaned as my puny little trucks got shot to bits by this tournament standard IG list. I knew my list had potential but did not in any way expect the results I got.

I won first turn (which in retrospect was probably the deciding factor in this game) and charged headlong up the board at the IG parking lot. Using the pivoting technique (which I know some people disagree with although it is legal by RAW), I was able to move my 6 Trukks to within 3 inches of his lines turn one. The lootas and the Kannons went crazy (kannons are incredible for their points, I don't know why more people don't use them) and shut down the very scary hydras immediately, while also stunning some Chimeras.

Louise had reserved his Vendettas (a mistake, he should have just gone flat out for a cover save with his scout move) which took a lot of heat off of me. His Manticores wasted a squad of Lootas but the KFFs saved most of my trukks from destruction. At this point, the game was pretty much decided. I hit his lines with 72 Orks wielding 8 power klaws backed up by a lot of firepower. By the time his Vendettas showed up, it was too late. By turn three, the Orks were the only models left on the board.

Now, in fairness to Louise, my dice were gak hot which was huge, but a turn three tabling against a serious IG list? Wow.

Had I gone second, or had he had all his Vendettas on board turn 1, it would have been different. I will have to keep play testing the list though as it is so much fun. 6 Trukks tearing ass up the field backed up by crazy amounts of Dakka is a lot of fun.

I think I will drop the boarding planks though, they work well on Battlewagons but I never use them once.

Looking forward to more Orky goodness!

Ummmm, its either a typo or a pretty blatant (but not super important) mistake. Trukks have a transport capacity on 12, unless i miss read your list it appears you have 13 guys in each trukk other then the last two which have 12 to let you put the Big Meks in. Which is also illegal.

TL;DR Trukks have a transport capacity of 12 not 13.

Nice fun list, which I have always wanted to try but never did. Looking forward to more reports!

@Tekeino: the model count includes the trukk. The points also match for 11 boyz, nob, and trukk

@tekeino
As aleinikov said, that's the squad size with the trukk. It is easy to get that mixed up.

@aleinikov
Yeah, the list was a blast! So much speed and shooting. Especially against av12 spam, if was really brutal. I think the key is having 6 trukks. Anything less and they're too easily destroyed. You need a critical mass of them to provide too many targets for your opponent.

Good job against a very tough IG list. IG, Tau and other gunline armies have problems with very fast armies that can overload them with multiple threats all at the same time. That, combined with a little dice going your way, and I can see the end result as a real, though not very common, possibility.

Ah, who am I kidding, you tabled IG with that army?!?...

Congrats tabling a "serious" IG list on turn 3.

It's good to see a non-horde army performing well for a change.

Do you use the updated Ork Trukks or the smaller version?

Thanks guys. Yeah, going first and hot dice were a big part of it, a really big part. Louise wants a rematch and I am curious to see if the ass getting kicked is mine this time around when he knows what to expect.

I used new trukks. I personally think the old trukks are abusive as they are SO small.

The key to beating IG has always been to be extremely aggressive. Once you are in their lines, they tend to crumble (baring Straken power blobs, of course).

This list has enough shooting, numbers and speed to get in the other player's face right away.

Now the real test will be playing a mobile shooting army, like mechdar, or a superior assault army, like Purifiers, Bugs, Daemons, or DoA. That will be the real test for this list, I think.

Jy2
we should try this list against your Grey Knights. That would be a real challenge. I also want to try my Footdar against you as I think they would have the upper hand.

Haha, and my wolves need a rematch after the ass kicking they got!

That's a lot of games to get in....

I think you'd be better off in general with Battle Wagons, but the Trukks are good fun and with support, I think they can perform at an above average level of play.

Sure, let's do it after the 'Ard Boyz. BTW, are you going to be playing at the Ard Boyz?

Sure am! I've devised a pretty nasty black Templar list that I think will really stomp most armies.

Hmmm....you think it'll stomp my grey knights? Dare to play at Game Kastle with me and Janthkin? Heh, heh.... Ask your zero comp posse to come along.

BTW, I'm going to post up my potential Ard Boyz GK list real soon here in the Batreps forum.

I would gladly take up that challenge, but I will most likely be in San Luis Obispo playing Ard Boyz as my cousin is getting married and I will be gone that weekend.

And yes, I do feel that this BT list could take on any other list. It is pretty damn brutal.

What, you're not taking your speedfreaks to ard boyz?

I can just imagine how nasty your BT army would be:

Emperor's Champ
1 deathstar assault terminator unit with Furious Charge/Preferred Enemy in a LRC that doesn't give a crap about bright/darklite weaponry
2 5-man terminator squads with 4 lascannon shots each (at least against tanks)
6 5-man crusader squads with lascannons and 3 meltas/3 flamers each (maybe in lazorbacks)
3 land speeder typhoons that are 20pts cheaper than their marine cousins
3 trip-las predators that are 20pts cheaper than their marine cousins

and maybe a Witch Hunter Inquisitor Lord w/psychic hood

Damn, that's sick. Definitely a tier-1 tournament build.

That's pretty damn close to what I'm bringing. Crazy firepower combined with a death star assault unit. I think it's going to smash most opponents.

Your list looks like a lot of fun to play. I had the pleasure of playing against Louise a couple months ago at the Black Diamond Games tourney. He's a fun opponent. I want to play against his new IG list, when I played him he had a lot of LRBT variants.

Yeah, he ditched the leman russ' in favor of a more leaf blower style list. He is a really cool guy, and fun to play. He took the Crazy pounding my orks delivered in good humor and is asking for a rematch, which should be good fun

I play a similar list but with Kommandos and Koptas instead of Meks and Kannons. Same affect though, give your opponent more targets than they can deal with and overrun them on turn 2. Its an easy tactic against gunline armies, but I've had some trouble with it against assault marines like SWan BA.

List looks fun to play.... I only have 3 Trukks atm, but want to play the Trukk rush list...

Oh, having done the generic trukk mob loads of times, I notice that each of your mobs is 1 point short.... 12 Boys with the usual loadout in a trukk with RPJ and BP should be 157 points, and a group of 11 should be 146!!

Deploy your truck sideways on the edge of your deployment zone. Before your first move, you rotate it forward then move 13" (red paint job) giving you a total move of about 15".

Q: How many of a specific demographic group are required to carry out a simple task?
A: An arbitrary number. One to carry out the task in question, and the remainder to act in a manner stereotypical of the group.

As the pivot movement does not take up any of your movement, and is done from the centre of the vehicle, you can gain an inch or two this way!! Its cheeky, but legal!!! I'd personally not use it outside of a tournament!!!
