As the ONLY openly Jewish person posting on the thread, I can tell you that the whole "Jews run the world" myth is bs. Even further, anyone who thinks this is so far up their own donkey-caves that they believe the sky is a nice shade of brown. People like your brother and Warpcrafter believe in these myths because they want someone to blame for things. My people have been scapegoats for thousands of years, and it's easy for this world of Anti-Semites to say "Jews caused 9/11!" or "Jews run the world!"
Also, Warpcrafter, do you have any evidence? Any at all? Because I would love to see this science.

Honestly, it was a pretty terrible thing for him to say. But really, your reaction is pretty awful also. You are acting like your brother is going to run off and start a revolution. The man is obviously just stupid. You hear stupid things every day. Do you go nuts on them? Or is it just because he is your brother?
You admit to never being close to your brother, probably because of family reasons. But lets face it, maybe his current situation is a result of your parents separating. Stop freaking out, take a deep breath. Maybe get to know your brother a little better.

Maybe you are right, and I should be trying to help him. He holds similar views about other groups who are different from him too. It is just such a horrible thing to hear it's shameful.

The reason people believe Jews control the world, is because they tend to be well-educated, among the middle class to upper class and wield a relatively large percentage of the numbers of influential and powerful people in the world throughout history that is disproportionate to their actual numbers.
Historically speaking, in the middle ages, this was because most professions were barred to them. A Jew could not be employed by a Catholic, could not be apprenticed into one of the trades, could not own land, and so on. There were whole swathes of Anti-Semitic laws across Europe. One of the few areas in which Jews were not openly barred however, was that of money lending. That's where the stereotype of Jews being obsessed with money originates from.
Of course, as time passed, laws changed, and Anti-Semitism became less rife, those years of handling money and banking and the like meant that Jewish groups tended to have access to larger funds than their goyim brethren. In somewhere like America, with lobbying groups and the such, where money makes everything go round, this results in a larger than usual influence, that is again, disproportionate to their actual numbers.

I wont lie, that made me laugh pretty good. Stereotypes I find funny, because people TRULY believe in them. I do however, feel for ya chowder, a buddy of mine is Jewish, and works as a cook/cashier at the Target down the street and he not only gets the typical money jokes when handling peoples cash, but gets the food jokes as well. And worst yet, his nose is a little large. Just be thankful you dont have all 3 of those traits

That's a pretty fair statement. No one can argue that when it comes to lobbying AIPAC is the tops. The only time that the congress and senate seem to be able to agree is when it comes to Israel.
"Jews run the world" that statement is ignorant and stupid, a more accurate statement would be "many powerful people happen to be Jewish".
I’d say a bit more emphatically that, Yes, Jews have a 3,000-year history of story telling, a skillset that comes in quite handy in Hollywood. The clearest example of this, obviously, is the Bible, followed, though not too closely, by “The Big Lebowski.”
