I said Average since I'ts more average than not, but I swear the Dice God is a troll - I keep getting 2's when I don't need them. And when you're playing as Space Marines this gets INCREDIBLY frustrating.

It really depends what I'm doing.
Wyches with 4++/FNP survive more than anything I've ever used.
Warriors hit with 1/2 of their shots on BS4.
Lances kill Crisis Suits and Termies really well. Not tanks.
Never fail a Dangerous Terrain test, ever.
Succeed in rolling 2,3,4,5 for combat drugs for your first 10 games, then finally get a 1 when playing against...Tau.
Getting WS5 on Wyches, and proceeding to all roll 4's and higher against things you'd hit on 3's.

For me it all depends what unit i'm rolling for. For instance, my scourges are infamous for being nearly impossible to kill while my warriors are lucky to kill an ork boy when I outnumber them 3 to 1.

I tend to roll pretty average. Though for vehicle damage, I always roll 6's. Don't ask why.

Pen'd a friend's Venerable Dread, rolled a 6. Has me reroll it, I roll a 6.

My buddy who says he rolls like crap fired a multi melta at range 23" at my AV14 bunker. Scored a hit. Rolled to pen and rolled a 6. Rolled on the damage results chart and got a 6 so even though it was a glance he destroyed the bunker. He then rolled 8 out of 10 wounds on my 10 man marine squad in the bunker. I failed 6 armor saves with a 3+. Rolled my moral check and failed my LD 9 leadership. Rolled a fall back and fell back 11". This was just enough to reach the edge of the board and kill the unit, which through the game to my opponent.

This series of events is so statistically improbably that playing a game every week for something like 57 years, we would never see anything like this happen again.

SO yes, sometimes the dice are on my side, sometimes they are not.

I only ever have one opponent and the majority of the time the Dice Gods choose one of us to roll extraordinary well or have one of us roll horrifically.
Case in point 13 ork boyz plus a PK nob charged a lone plague marine. He survived, killed three boyz and they promptly ran off the table. Smashcut to next battle and a single wierdboy rips apart two Leman Russ tanks, And a Manticore. These are our streaks of hot and cold. and we always know by turn 3 which way it's going.

Just call me OneBiOne. Because all I roll are ones and twos. My marine army is a no upgrade swarm of 10 termies and 50 Marines at 1850 points. I need that many so after all the failed saves I can still have a force to fight with.

Last Friday all I had to do was to score one wound on a T5, 3+save; I had 6 heavy weapons to do it with-2HBs, 2PCs, 2MLs......I lost.

So yeah, the dice gods hates my ass.

The Dice Gods run hot and cold with me. Some games (like my last one) I roll amazingly well (three Poisoned Wind Mortar shots, three hits!) while in some games (my last battle against O&G) I fall apart at the seams. I suppose you could call that average...

"I have concluded through careful empirical analysis and much thought that somebody is looking out for me, keeping track of what I think about things, forgiving me when I do less than I ought, giving me strength to shoot for more than I think I am capable of. I believe they know everything that I do and think, and they still love me. And I’ve concluded, after careful consideration, that this person keeping score is me." -Adam Savage

As much as I would love to blame my dice for all my gaming bad luck, I can't. Its just me having no grasp of tactics.

There is one dice though, little green thing... I swear that is my unlucky dice.

dice rolls are average, but for some reason i am extremely lucky when it comes to the scatter die. Even if I don't roll a direct hit, my scatter distance is always low. Things got real interesting when I started playing Guard

You roll 3D6 and pick the highest when determining how far you run. It's the same as Hormagaunts have. And I got it against Tau.

My scatter die is possessed by Khorne and he get's what he wants.

@ Ardboyz I ran 2 manticores not only did they only miss target once for the day, the only rolled a 1-2 once, and a 3-4 3times, so for the other Sixteen Times it was a 5-6 or 3 Barrage

My scatter die is the same way. There are days where you'd swear I had it loaded to always hit, and others when you'd wonder why I haven't thrown it into a volcano because it sucks so very badly.

My dice hate me. Particularly when it comes to making Power Armor saves.

That sounds like the CSM player in our group. Hes a good player, not to bad not awesome, but his defilers are just evil. I swear the kid rolls hits like its nothing, if he doesnt, itll barely scatter. Today though, he FINALLY scattered 12 inches, so I laughed.......next turn though....I paid for that laugh

He hates me with a ridiculous passion. He loves one of my friends so dearly that he has saved so many Terminator 5+ saves now that is got to a point of stupidity. I can with good confidence say that he will save at least 2 out of every three that he needs to when terminators get hit with anything negating the 2+ save. I on the other hand will NEVER get the roll that you absolutely NEED to get at those crutial points in a game. I am also one of those annoying people that always use the dice that failed to hit to roll for wounds as my brain (incorrectly) tells me that they are less likely to fail twice in a row

If your going to do something wrong, do it right!!!!

You guys may be rolling consistent ones and twos because you're using cheap dice. ...seriously. It's been proven that rounded, pipped dice like Games Workshop and Chessex brand blocks have approx. a 23% chance of rolling a 1 on those dice, and a somewhat higher than normal chance of rolling a two, because the pips throw the center of gravity mostly towards one, and a little towards two. It can get kinda technical, but there's an article on Dakka that discusses it, and I've talked to Dr. Fahring on the phone who among other things told him that the vegas gaming omission was honestly surprised that players continue to use those kinds of dice.

Of course, well-crafted dice are significantly more expensive. The cheapest I can find is located here: http://www.gamestation.net/Products_2/Opaque-Translucent_7?range=61%2C70%2C84

Also, check out the video I did on the subject. The quality is crappy when displayed on the forums, and there's text to be read on screen, so you may want to view it on youtube itself (because the video is actually shot in HD).

I must be a cleric of the dice god, cause there are a plenty of times where I go up against someone and we both have the same set of saves ( both have 2+ and we both have 3 to make) and he will fail every one of them and I will roll 5s and 6s on mine. This happened at ard boyz 3 times in the same game against tau and each time it caused a squad of his to run off the board from shooting

Very interesting post diesel7270. I am a physics major so I can agree with Dr. Fahring that theoretically the sides with more mass(1, 2, and 3) due to not being dug out will have more centripetal force when rolling. (centrifugal is a common misconception, it actually doesn't exist lol. Centrifugal is classically confused with tangential force) Due to the conclusoon those sides have more force they would make it spin in an ellipse (something you can basically call an oval of a trajectory). Due to be ing in an ellipse, it would decrease the time that the six would be on top(while being rolled) which would allow for more 1's and 2's.
!!!Disclaimer!!! I am not a fully graduated physics major, I am an undergrad. I may be completely wrong, just throwing in my 2 cents, nothing I have stated is solid fact, it all is theory. Well, essentially all science is theory because it can all be changed by a later experiment
But I may actually buy some board game dice now, or vegas dice...

Even if you roll 1's slightly more then perfectly squared dice, the fact that 90% of gamer's use the rounded edge dice levels the playing field. Everyone is at the same disadvantage.

When it comes to saves, be they cover, invulnerable, or armor, I defy the odds again and again to emerge unscathed. I can roll hits with average frequency. My 'to wound' rolls, however, are a different story. I consistently roll below average results to wound. Also, I know that 1/3 times I shouldn't scatter, but it seems like I always do anyway. My reserve rolls usually rock socks, but I have only gone first in I think two games, ever.

At the end of the day it all balances out, but it seems like I have dramatically different luck for specific purposes.

My dice are in general average. However, if I'm rolling a scatter dice, 9/10 times it's a hit. The dice gods frown on my use of the warp though. Last year, over about 25 games, I ran duel rune priests. Not ONCE did my opponent kill them. Though they died every single game by turn 3 due to perils, totally ludicrous. Honestly it was freaking me out so badly I stopped playing with wolves.

At some point after the video was made, I talked to Dr. Fahring on the phone for over an hour. Someone had picked up his work after he left ASU and taught elsewhere. Those who continued after him established cause, just as you described. I have for some time tossed around the idea of doing another video which would contain a skype interview with Dr. Fahring, in which he explains everything to a fine detail (because I can't explain the precision nearly as well as he can). I just haven't done it yet because I'm not sure if people would actually want to see/hear it. But, yes, since that video, Dr. Fahring and his sucsessors pretty much have cracked the whole subject wide open.

When I use my Marines they typically can't fight or shoot for anything. I think they've been trained completely in all forms of non-lethal tactics, almost like they're starting a kindler, gentler Imperium. But when I use my Orks, I usually roll pretty well. Absolutely cannot explain it, but that's how it usually works out.

Normally I roll average, but sometimes I do rubbish!
I charge a unit of Saurus warriors, need 18.5", I roll 10" + 8" thanks to my knights being knights. next tun he charges me and wipes out my most expensive unit, :(

But, then he charges my Peasants (Ld5, best stat they have), wins the combat and I make a leadership test. I get double 1's so my unit stays in the combat

Now I have two school League dice I use when ever I need to use two dice, they never fail me
