Does Dragonforce remind anyone else of Surf music or is it just me?

Rhapsody of Fire is awesome. Rain of a Thousand Flames is one of my favorite songs by them.

I liked them for awhile then kinda fell off the bandwagon. Their songs are so long and the songs are so similar I can't tell when a song ends and another begins if I'm not paying particular attention to it.

They had one incident where they were using guitars that they weren't used to and weren't tuned properly ,and they sounded HORRIBLE.

But if you watch live shows OTHER than that, you'll find they really played that fast, and far, far better.

Meh, the music's not for me for compositional reasons, but that is no reason to try to lie about the band's capabilities.

It was all so very 80s power metal seeming.

Without the big hair coming through.

After glam metal, power metal is the second most cheesiest form of cheese metal, ugh too much cheese.

I like them and I heard of them before I played Guitar Hero.

I saw them live and they were quite good, so that clip of them sucking ass was probably a one-off thing.

Really, I like all kinds of metal, from over the top insane power metal to the grimmest, tr00est, kvltest lo-fi black metal around. No NSBM, though, except Burzum and while he is/was/is a terrible racist, that doesn't really seem to come through in his music much, so I'm not even so sure that his music can be considered NSBM.

this is from observation of the many angsty youngsters at my LGS who see fit to play their music out loud, assuming that everyone else wants to hear, songs like through fire and flames ad nauseum, but, I guess it could be worse....

Saw them live and i was sorely unimpressed like kc said , a studio band nothing more.

Like any music from my misspent youth, I can't stand it. There was a time though, a dark time, when I liked them.

I knew Dragonforce sucked before Guitar Hero.

I don't like Dragonforce. They just feel bland and boring, which is a shame, as Herman Li is such a good guitarist.
The rumor that they speed up their music bull though. It's okay that people don't like them, but slander is definitely not okay

i like dragonforce, but in small bursts. interspersed with Deadmau5, Muse and Iron Madian.

To be fair, some of us "Angsty Young Teenagers" (Not me anymore, I'm 20 ), not because we think everyone else wants to hear, but because god damnit, I'm not going to listen to Rap from four blocks away, nore am I listening to Katy Perry from four blocks away, I'm listening to Metal. And Metal just happens to get better the louder you play it.

I used to love them (along with a lot of my friends), but now I skip most of their songs when they come on my Ipod...I personally thought their live performance was pretty decent, but not great by any means

The point is that it's annoying, whether it's metal or rap, and it's even more annoying when the music is cheesy.

Now if only I could get my neighbors to agree with me!

They're okay, I guess. Not really my kinda thing, I like to be able to sing along to the songs I listen to, and it's hard to do that when the lyrics are covered by ultra-fast guitar playing.
