I know, but it's the only conceivable reason I could see to be in under 12", aside from fusion blasters.

I take 40 Kroot as a matter of course... usually 2 squad of 10 can handle any GK 10 man troop squad (other than termies)

Good point, they don't have armor anyway so the force weapons don't mean anything...and the sheer number of attacks should make a dent.

Right, since 11 modest purifiers cost more than 40 Kroot...
And the kroot don't need to win (and with a little cover, they can) just tie down those purifiers for a turn or two while bigger guns take out other targets. The purifiers will get their turn too
