Keep them as far away as possible. Or wait until their codex gets updated...

It depends so very much on both lists. A Coteaz Henchman-based army plays so very differently from Purifiers, and they're both different from Grand Strategy-oriented lists. This sort of thing belongs in Tactics, incidentally.

In the battlefield

if speed is his strong point. then you need to focus fire and kick the legs out from under him. that should be the priority. after that focus down big targets.

its pretty much 123 abc! =D

You are not free whose liberty is won by the rigour of other, more righteous souls. Your are merely protected. Your freedom is parasitic, you suck the honourable man dry and offer nothing in return. You who have enjoyed freedom, who have done nothing to earn it, your time has come. This time you will stand alone and fight for yourselves. Now you will pay for your freedom in the currency of honest toil and human blood.

Focus all your fire on one target until it is dead. Next, focus all your fire on the next thing until it is dead. Do this til you win or lose.

Tau have some potent units with battlesuits. Take crisis suits with plasma rifles and torch Grey Knights with em. Take Broadsides and instant-kill his Paladins, do heaps of damage to his dreadnights, and wreck any vehicles he fields with ease.

How do Broadsides do instant kill?

The strength of their weapon is double the toughness of the target.

They still get any invulnerable saves but since railguns are S10 AP1, they don't get the 2+ and no FnP.

My advice against GKs is the same as it would be against most MEQ. Unhorse them with shooting and then make them walk across the board. This is complicated a bit by shunting dreadknights but keep all your troops in transport and just unload on him (the shoot and scoot method).

Keep your firewarriors in warfish use intervening terrain to keep out of assault when possible. Remember that SMS doesn't need LoS to fire so buildings are your friend.

Railheads to take out dreads and transports.

Broadsides protected by a kroot bubblewrap for extra firepower.

Crisis suit teams with PRs.

I find tau to be one if not the best option for killing GK. They have nothing that can catch a Crisis Suit, so you can simply use plasma rifles on your suits and instant instant kill anything not in termie armor, and they will have to take an invuln...oh and its AP2 so no feel no pain for palladins. As stated before Broadsides ignore their two wounds.

As tau, when facing any enemy your first threat is transports. Destroy any and all transports asap. Then you can simply dance around their troops granting no armor saves with your plasma rifles.

The thing that would be a menace is the Plasma syphon.Majority of your weapons, pulse, plasma rifles and burst cannons will be affected. If he decides he likes a melee Inquistor then he has a good chance of surviving to get close.

Plasma syphon has a 12" range (I think) most Tau weapons are 24" or longer....

That's a really esoteric piece of wargear and unless he knows he's facing you, he probably won't take it.

A melee Inquisitor would be close,so range of 12" would not be that big of a problem.

Why would any decent Tau player get within 12"?

They wouldn't,but a melee focused Inquisitor with the syphon wiould try to be there, and the syphon will protect him from most Tau guns.

Not well. Put spaces after punctuation. Punctuation does not replace spaces. I don't care if you learned it that way, you learned incorrectly.

LoL. Rapid fire range also means assault range of your opponent. As a Tau player, I avoid that if at all possible.
